Severus Snape sat in his compartment on the train, alone, somewhat wishing he had someone to share it with but also glad that he wasn't being bothered by anyone. It was, after all, one of the few times he was able to find peace and quiet away from home. He reached into the pocket of his black robe and was just about to pull out a pen and notepad when he glanced through the window and saw Lily Potter walking down the boxcar alley. Severus slid the door open and called her name just as she came to a stop by his room, and as she looked over at him a great smile lit up her face. He couldn't help but smile too, but it didn't last long as it wasn't something he was used to and therefore made him feel quite uncomfortable.
"Severus!" Lily exclaimed as she helped herself into the room. "I haven't seen you for two weeks. Where have you been?"
Severus kept his head down, failing to make eye contact with Lily. He was ashamed to say why he hadn't met with her in their usual spot, and she seemed to take it as a hint.
"It's okay, at least we're together now. Wouldn't it be great if we were put in the same house together?"
He looked up at her now, wondering how his pale skin looked in comparison to her fair complexion.
"It would, actually," he said without much enthusiasm, although he knew Lily understood him and wouldn't need much more excitement in an answer than that. He looked off as she sat down beside him, and added, "It would make the year far better, I assume."
She shook her head in agreement, although Snape wasn't looking at her to see. She reached into her bag and brought out a few boxes of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans and some Chocolate Frogs. "Do you want some, Severus?"
He looked down at the boxes of candy and although he had never been a fan of such things, he grabbed a box of each and immediately opened the chocolate frog. He handed the card inside to Lily, and she slipped it into her pocket without looking at it.
"Why aren't you going to look at it?" Severus asked.
"Well why didn't you?" She replied.
He grinned, holding back a small laugh. "Touche."
It was at this moment that two cocky boys by the name of James Potter and Sirius Black came knocking at the compartment door. They slid it open and took it upon themselves to sit down in the seats opposite Severus and Lily.
"You must be Severus," one boy said, looking Snape up and down as if he were gauging how quickly he could tackle him to the ground. "I've heard many things about you. How does it feel, being a half-blood living in dirty streets?"
Severus's face grew dark red, and he reached for his wand in his robe pocket.
"Oh, you want to duel? Pull it out, let's see who'll win. A rat, or a pure-blood like me?" James pulled his wand out without hesitation, pointing it at Snape. "I don't think there's really any contest here."
Lily put her hand on Severus's wrist, gently urging him not to do this. At the touch of Lily's hand on him, he grew calm, almost weak, and in an instant he didn't feel so angry any more, so he let go of his wand and it slowly slid back into his pocket.
"Get out of here or I'll be alerting the headmaster as soon as we get to the castle." Lily said, staring daggers at James.
He stood up and left, along with Sirius, who was passive in the entire incident, and as they were walking down the alley of the boxcar, Lily and Severus heard them talking loudly amongst themselves and laughing, saying, "Looks like he hasn't had any sun in about ten years."
Lily quickly shut the door, and took Severus's hand in hers, saying, "Don't worry about them." With her other hand, she pulled the chocolate frog card out of her pocket and began reading it to Severus to take his mind off of what had just happened. "Here, look.. Morgan le Fay. It says she was the child of the Duke of Cornwall, whoever that is, and that she was a very powerful dark witch. Hmm, not a lot of information on these things is there? Do you have this one yet? Do you want to keep it?"
He looked over at the card, examining the picture on it, and shook his head. "I don't collect them, but I'll keep it."
She smiled as she slipped it into his pocket, then let her head rest on his shoulder, and her long red hair tickled his neck as she lay it there, and then she said something that surprised Severus completely.
"Keep it forever, Severus, and each time you look at it, know that I'll always be with you."
He smiled a genuine smile then, one that he didn't mind feeling uncomfortable with, and let his head rest upon hers, and they sat there like that, undisturbed by outside annoyances, for the rest of the train ride, in what was the beginning of a blossoming romance.
Rox Oatwood, Gryffindor
Being raised in Spinner’s End, in one of the poorer area’s made it difficult for Severus, He didn’t have much friends, he was an outcast, his appearance not up to the standards, his behaviour not really fitting in. He lived in a city with people surrounding him, but he didn’t feel surrounded by people. To him it sometimes felt as if he was invisible. People could walk right next to him and still ignore him. Or ignoring might not be the best word, because that would imply they put an effort in it, it was as if they really didn’t see him, no effort needed for that, he just wasn’t really there. He often felt lonely and because of this his heart grew darker. He could have ended up the wrong way here if he hadn’t met the love of his love when he was nine years old.
When he met Lily Evans he quickly became friends with her. A friendship that seemed very unlikely, as they were so different from each other, but that might have been the whole reason they started to become friends in the first place. From the moment Severus met her, he loved her. Feelings that he never spoke of, unsure about her feelings for him. Even though he was always hoping for her to feel more than friendship, these years were the best of his life. It was because of Lily that he started to change, that he opened up a little and that his life seemed promising again.
When he received his letter to Hogwarts, he soon after found out that Lily had been given an invitation too. They would travel to Hogwarts together and they would be in the same year. He was hoping for her to start feeling more than friendship if they would spend more time with each other there. But in reality things didn’t go as he was hoping they would.
Upon arriving at Hogwarts, she was sorted into Gryffindor and he got sorted into Slytherin. To him it felt as if the sorting hat was trying to keep them away from each other. Why else would the hat place them in rival houses?
On the train over to Hogwarts he had met James Potter and Sirius Black and he had hated them from the moment they first saw each other and that feeling was mutual. James and Sirius did everything they could to embarrass him, especially in front of Lily. What made it worse for Severus was the fact that they were both in Gryffindor with Lily, something he wanted too.
Because of that Severus started to develop interest in the dark arts, he had a great desire to get revenge. Wanted to get back at James and Sirius for embarrassing him, wanted to show Lily that he could be strong too. Little did he know back then. His search for revenge was the whole reason he scared Lily away. His heart became so dark that even Lily wasn’t able to help him out at this point. It was a turning point in his life, that ended up breaking his friendship with Lily completely. And which caused him to eventually join the Death Eaters from Voldemort. It was the worst mistake he ever made. He wasn’t able to do anything about the change he made, his desire for revenge still very much alive, especially since Lily ended up marrying James Potter, one of the men’s he had hated for his entire live.
He wasn’t able to see the change in himself, he wasn’t able to do anything about it. Lily had been the only one he could ever turn too to reflect back on his life, but because of his own actions she wasn’t there for him anymore. And this eventually got her killed and him broken. He remained broken for the rest of his life, never loved anyone else again. It was the moment where he was able to look at himself again, seeing himself through Lily’s eyes. He didn’t like what he saw and he blamed himself for not being there for Lily. She remained his one true love, the love of his love, forever.
Sunny Day
You walk into a library downtown, hoping this one has the book you are looking for.
"Hi, welcome to my library. On the phone I didn't understand your question about a book with memories in them like movies. But, I soon remembered I picked up a book from an old friend of mine, you might know him his name is Albus Dumbledore. He entrusted me in this book and said that no one can look at it until the -whispers- Dark Lord -whispers- was gone and that the only people that would know about this book is those close to Harry Potter. So please follow me into the back." Calling to another librarian in the vicinity. "Sweetie can you watch the front for me while I help my friend here with a book." then continues to take to you. "Okay so there is only one place to read this book and it is in one of our soundproof booths that we use for audio recordings." You sit down and he starts with the telling you. "Severus Snape was an amazing person, even though his life was very confusing at times." flips open a magical memory book. "Lets take a look at a time in his life that wasn't all that confusing," pages start to flip violently to the beginning of the book, then suddenly stop on and page titled 'Day with Lily' "Ahh perfect, our story begins with Servers waking up to a beautiful sunny day here in Cokeworth, which is not usual."
The book then starts to spin on the table and soon the room goes dark and plays the memory from Severus's eyes.
Waking up Severus look outside his window, not expecting anything but rain and dullness. But, he is brought back by the unusual sun beaming in his eyes. 'I most seize this day, let me get Lily' stating to himself has he walks to the bathroom. He takes a quick shower and gets dressed. Here in Cokeworth all the house are the same, all brick and a dull gray color. But, he knew exactly which on Lilies was, he walked a few streets over to another area connected to Cokeworth that was for families with a little more money, these houses were more white then gray. He walked to the house with the number E4777, this was Lily's house, knocking on the door he could hear someone yelling "I got it." Petunia opened the door and her face went from a happy smiley face to disgusted int he matter of a second. "Oh, its you let me get Lily." calling behind her in an annoying taunting voice "Lily you boyfriend is here." Severus blushed, hoping Petunia didn't see. After about five minutes Lily came to the door, she was in a dress with red and blue flowers and and blue belt around her waist, Severus stood there admiring her beauty, then saying "Hey Lily, you look very cute today." Lily blushed "Aww thank you. So what is are adventure today?" Severus then snapped out of his gaze and told her "We are going to go to the stream today, I may have found an area that has clean water and isn't dirty." Lily gasped and turned around, before walking out and yelled "Going to explore with Severus be back later. i'll be careful." then she closed the door and they started to walk to the street towards the edge of town that meets the lake.
When arriving to the Lake they both made the same disgusted look face. Since the lake was so close to town, it was very polluted and was never clean, the one source of water the flowed in was on the other side of it. "I'll race you to the other side." Lily quickly asked, "Your on." Severus replied., and they both took off running around the lake. It was neck and neck when the came to about 100 ft from the finish, when Severus acted like he was running out of speed, but really he was letting her win. "Ha I win." she gloated then laughed. They both had huge grins on their faces and stood there breathing heavy. "Come on this way." Severus pointed towards from which the stream was coming from.
As they walked Severus would talk about the different flowers and animals they saw. He then picked up one and gave it to Lily stating "This is you, the lily flower." she blushed and accepted it, putting it in her hair. The water started to clear up the farther they walked, it had been about 1 hour of walking when then stopped at a side of the stream where is was dry to sit on. The sat down Severus soon turned to Lily asking "Do you want to see something cool?" she nodded Severus then whispered into his cupped hands "Avis", but him being such a newbie to magic he conjured up only one bird instead of a flock of birds. Lily's eyes lit up when the bird came flying out of his hands, "Teach me she said." cupping her hands and doing what he didn't but, nothing happened. He said "You have to concentrate, you are to excited you most calm down." he took a deep breath then let it out, she followed him. "Okay, now this time when you do it think only of a bird and keep thinking it until the end, or it won't work." She tries again and nothing, then again, and again. She starts to get flustered, he reminds her "Focus Lily you can do this." with those calming words she focus's on what she is doing. She cups her hands together and then whispers "Avis" into her hands and a light comes from them and she lets go and a bird flies out of them and into the air towards the other bird and they fly off together. "How did you learn to do that?" she asks while watching the birds. "I learned it from a wizarding book my mom bought me. It has all types of spells in it but this is the only one that works for me." he didn't mention the fact that it is suppose to make a flock of birds in embarrassment of him not being powerful enough. They then chat a little more about how life at Hogwarts is going to be and hopefully they get in the same House.
They started to walk back now that the sun was behind them and it was going to be dark in about 2 hours. On the way back they stopped at the lake and skipped a few rocks. Then continuing to her house, when they finally got to her house he hugged her goodbye and she went inside as he started to walk home.
The book then started to dim the picture and was soon gone. The librarian closed the book. "Well that was amazing to see. I hope you come back to do this again." walking you out of the room and to the front of the library. He resumed his post behind the desk "Have a great day, bye now." waving as you walk out of the library.
Hope you like this read. :D

I cannot begin to tell this tale. Too much hurt and too much pain. But it must be done, so they tell me, for cleansing purposes and so I can move on in my life. But that is where the dilemma begins. Do I want to move on or do I want to stay the way I am?
I am a half-blood wizard, the son of the witch Eileen Snape (née Prince) and the Muggle Tobias Snape. I was raised in the Muggle dwelling of Spinner's End, which was in close proximity to the home of the Evans family, though in a poorer area.
My mother recognized the wizard side of me (which she refused to acknowledge)and therefore kept me in the dark literally about my gift. I was confined to the basement when ever my ability rose to the fore front. I became pale and wan, seeking warmth, light and most importantly hope.
My life at Spinner's End brought me nothing but anguish, as I grew up as a child, and later, an adult I became coldly sarcastic and exhibited a controlled exterior that concealed deep emotions.
Much of this is due to the fact that I belonged no-where. The wizard world rejected me and the muggle world laughed at me. I was ostracized by all and loved by none.
Then came the opportunity to begin my first term at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where I was sorted into Slytherin, one of the four Houses there.
And there begins another story.
Going Fishing!!! 🐟
Poppy, Slytherin
Take four cups of apple cider pressed from fruit grown in the Weasley's orchard and pour it into your cauldron. Combine it with a bottle of red wine taken from the Hog's Head in exchange for a Potion for Dreamless Sleep. Stir in a fourth of a cup of Molly Weasley's Home Made Yummy Honey. Drop in two cinnamon sticks taken from the student supply cupboard in the Potions Classroom. Steal an orange from the kitchens and use all of its zest and juice. Pluck four whole cloves from your bedside pomander and add them to the liquid. Watch three star anise purchased from Mr. Mulpepper's Apothecary on your last trip to Diagon Alley disappear into your cauldron's depths.
Bring everything to a boil. Now simmer it over low, gentle heat for ten minutes.
Severus Snape now had eight cups of the world's most delicious mulled wine. He had wanted a project to take his mind off his work for the Order of the Phoenix, and now the boozy brew was ready to drink.
Snape carefully peeled four oranges with a small silver knife. He divided each strip in half and arranged the citrus curls inside a handsome set of pewter mugs on a wooden tray. The steaming hot beverage went in next.
One for himself. One for Lily. One for his mother. One for Dumbledore. Those were the easy ones. Four cups left, but not another soul to drink from them. One for Molly Weasley, for the apples and the honey. One for Aberforth, for the wine. One for Voldemort, because now he was drunk. The last one for Harry, with tears in his eyes.
(This short story uses Ina Garten's recipe for mulled wine.)
Enter for 15 House Points; a chance at 500, 250, or 100 CSC; and to honor the memory of an actor who brought one of the best Slytherins to life. This challenge ends tomorrow night.

(OOC:) This ends tonight! I know we have great writers and amazingly creative people. House points and possible CSC will be awarded!!! Good luck everyone! ❤️
The End
The End
We rushed into the room the moment we heard Voldemort leave. I kneeled down beside him and placed my hand on his neck, trying to slow the bleeding. "Take them…Take them…..Please." Snape whispered, gesturing at his falling tears. I turned to Hermione "Give me something, quickly. A flask, anything." I pressed the flask to Snape's cheek, collecting his tears. "Take them to the Pensieve," he said, "and Harry....You have your mothers eyes."
They finally left. I released the breath I'd been holding in, careful not to be too laud. I quickly said the incantation to heal my bleeding neck. Though it was harder to heal than I had expected, I got it eventually. I took the potion I had made before out of my pocket, careful not to drop it. I had known that Voldemort would try to kill me at some point, so I had prepared this anti-venom potion especially against that accursed snake, in case the need ever arose. After the potion had had enough time to do it's deed, I made my way out of the school, careful not to be seen by anyone. "I'll leave everything else to them, my job here is done."
After that I went far away from that school, to England.I gave up my wand, and bought a house in a place called Hammersmith, in London. I didn't want to have anything to do with magic, so I worked as a muggle, and I lived as a muggle, but I could never forget what I really was. A wizard, The Half Blood Prince.

Snape, early childhood
Severus Snape
Severus Snape was an only child, born in 1960 to witch Eileen Prince Snape and muggle Tobias Snape. Because Severus’ father was a muggle, the family stayed away from the witching crowd and young Snape was homeschooled until his attendance at Hogwarts in 1971. It is known that as early as nine years old Snape knew his one true love was Lily Evans, and he loved her after her death and it is believed even after his own. Being homeschooled Snape had few examples of normal childhood relationships. His own parents’ tumultuous relationship did little to teach him much needed social skills. By his overall sloping shoulders, general appearance of miss-matched clothes and stringy looking hair during his attendance at Hogwarts, one observes that his care was greatly neglected as a child. Young Snape spent many hours alone, investigating the surroundings of his home in Spinner's End, a street in a rundown, ghetto neighbourhood in the city of Cokeworth, England. As a young child he spent hours dabbling with a few magic tricks his mother taught him to keep him occupied. A clever boy, he figured out spells that had no known origin, and he experimented all his life to perfect these spells. It is unknown how he got around the restriction of underage sorcery nor why the trace charms for improper use of magic did not stop him from these activities. Severus learned quickly to avoid the muggle children in the neighbourhood who pelted him with mud and sticks after he showed them some simple tricks. Lily was his first and only friend during those lonely years.
Severus Snape as Headmaster
SPOILER (click to toggle)
Severus sat in the big chair in the headmasters office. He looked at the portraits of the previous headmasters. His eyes wandered to Dumbledores portrait. But he was currently away. Sighing Severus closed his eyes. It had been a hard day not that any other day was easier. The Deatheaters were everywhere. He still had to keep his role as a double agent intact.
Although he would not stop them yet. He had to wait, wait until the choosen one returned to Hogwarts. Until then he had to try and endure his position as the Dark Lords loyal servant. He heard shouting and cursing outside. It was probably the Carrow twins. Severus had the feeling that the Dark Lord didn´t trust him completly. The twins were there to spy on him and see if he was as loyal as he claimed.
He snorted. Damn fools they really thought he was so dumb to let them see he was a double agent. He kept a close watch on all the Deatheaters in Hogwarts. He knew what they did to the students. Torture, death threats, bullying. They were pathetic. He knew that Potter must have gotten his message in the Forest of Dean. It was just a matter of time. He could wait another day or two it didn´t matter. He allowed his thoughts to go to Lily for a second before he banned it in the darkest corner of his mind.
If the only the Dark Lord knew what he was doing it would make him furious. He was only buying time. Precious time until the boy who lived deateated the Dark Lord and ended this war. Dumbledore gave him a task and he was going to fullfill it. Turing from the window Severus returned to his seat. "Soon" he told himself, soon everything would be over

I have some great news! This challenge's deadline has been extended. Writing Challenge will end on Sunday, January 31st at 11:59PM.
NOTE TO SELF: DO THE THING.
Thank you SO MUCH for extending the deadline!
the deadline has been extended! let's get in here and write a few stories before the term ends. give it a shot, even if you're not great at writing. we could really use the house points, and i'm interested in seeing how all you guys will honour snape/alan in your stories!
Between the stomach flu, and a bad bout of blank-pageitits, I thought I was gonna miss this. Thanks for extending!
I was very inspired by and the theory that Snape lived instead of dying. But I needed a little romance.
Lily's Flower
Years have passed since they thought I was dead, that night when the Dark Lord took his final breath. I escaped that night but lost the use of my voice for a while. My work was finally done so I left into the shadows to live the remainder of my life in my solitude knowing that the boy would be okay. I left and moved to a remote village near the sea, most of the people living there are muggles but since there are a few wizards nearby I changed my appearance a bit; shorter hair the color of Lilys and a tanner complexion. Most people see only what they want to see anyways – no one has ever thought that I might be more than the old man who lives alone.
I spent many years alone and enjoying the things I hadn’t had the time for when working with Dumbledore. I created spells and learned to grow different herbs, I learned to paint without a wand, and read more books by muggle authors. After living in the village for awhile I learned about the muggles and came to understand them a little better. It was strange to feel something other than disdain for my father’s people. a
I never forgot Lily though; knowing her son was happy and alive and that she was happy on the other side gave me comfort though. I knew she watched over me sometimes, I would smell her smell or see her face in the window of a store. One day I was out in my garden when I smelled her near again. I stood up and smiled, thinking of the little girl I once played with. A feeling washed over me, one I could not ignore, and I knew I had to go into town. I walked to the main road and walked around when a glimpse of red hair caught my eye from the other side of a flower cart. The feeling that Lily was pushing me on was still with me, urging me forward toward the red hair. I saw her then, as I walked around the cart, red hair, pale skin, and eyes as green as a meadow. This woman looked so much like my Lily that my breath caught and I felt frozen in place.
“Why hello there sir, would you care for a flower? I am new to this village and am selling flowers to make some money for a room at the inn” Her voice was like a melody, ringing through my body. I felt as though Lily had led me to this woman; that she was telling me it was okay to move on. I couldn’t believe it but my heart felt light when I heard this woman talk.
“Please mis, I would love a flower.” I reached out and took the flower she was offering me (a pure white lily) “Would you like to spend the night at my cottage, I have space to spare and can offer you a warm meal?”
She smiled at me and nodded her head.
