Bentley is my five year old pomeranian poodle mix. Hes my baby, my first dog that was specifically for me. I took him off of a friend who was going to dump him in the pound when he was only ten or so weeks old. I love this dog more than I love anyone or anything in the world.
Bentley has been going to the vet constantly for the last several months. He seems to have developed general head/face problems. First it was with his eyes. I thought he was having an allergic reaction to something but it has turned into some sort of infection. He digs at his eyes all day (yes he had a cone on, he broke it) and makes the hair fall out in the corners and they bleed. He was one one type of medication, then another. None of it is helping.
Then it was his ears. I though he had picked up ear mites so I was over the counter treating for that. No big deal, typically clears up within a week. It didn't. He has scab like bumps in both of his ears and disgusting brown drainage that I clean out every day.
Now it is his mouth. He has weird scabbed over bumps on either side of his lips but not inside of his mouth. I don't know if its from his food or the plastic bowls. We switched to metal bowls and his diet has changed constantly.
I'm taking him back to the vet today after work and they are going to take scrape samples of his eyes, ears, mouth, do blood work etc. I know we'll probably have to treat long term considering this started back in.. at least since October. I'm just so very frustrated and tired and I know he is to. He doesn't act the same, he just wants to be left alone and sleep all day. I miss my healthy baby.
i'm sorry your dog isn't very healthy right now and i hope he feels better soon but
i hope his poodle parent was a toy poodle
yes toy poodle haha. He is short and weighs 19 pounds.
Thank you both. /: The vet put him on autoimmune suppressants as she believes his immune system is attacking the healthy cells, as well as a pill for the eye infection and ear drops. Its just so tiring.
