So through some cosmically bad luck, I've gotten hit with a cold just one week before the convention I attend every January... even worse, I'm a panelist this year. I started feeling sick yesterday around lunchtime, and I remembered reading once that if you start treating cold symptoms within twelve hours it can lessen the duration and severity of the symptoms you experience.

I've been taking Vitamin C on top of the multivitamin I have to take already because of my dietary restrictions, I'm loaded down on tea and honey, I have cough drops, and I took severe cold Thera-Flu and started on a maximum strength cough syrup last night.

Does anyone have any other suggestions that may help me kick this to the curb, or at the very least (as the cold cannot be cured as it is) make my symptoms way more tolerable so I can survive the weekend without getting MY can kicked?

Whenever I feel like I'm about to get a cold, I eat a clove (or two) of garlic, some ginger and food with chili (and garlic! lol more garlic) in it, take ibuprofen and drink lots of green tea, and rest/sleep as much as possible in the first couple of days. I don't know if any of this is helpful to you, but I wish you good luck with battling the cold. c:

Oh, I'd never thought of doing garlic! I do a lot of ginger and ibuprofen and tea, and peppermint too. I'll have to give that a shot. Thanks!
