I'd never actually bothered to check...but if I actually understand it correctly...Braintree is a Paypal company...which means once Subeta removes Stripe...I'm sunk...I'm not allowed to use Paypal. That was a rule when I lived with my parents because Paypal screwed up both their bank accounts so badly they had to close them. And, my hubbie had a similar problem but his was a little more serious since the issue with his was related to his business account...THAT was before we met but he's still firmly against Paypal. I thought Braintree would be a solution to the Stripe-removal...but it seems like its just gonna be an addition to the Paypal issue.

I guess my question here is: Is Paypal STILL like that? I mean, still that bad? Or, if anyone has any experience with Braintree...is it that bad?

I've been using paypal for ages, years, and never had a problem. That being said, I can understand people being leary about attaching it to their bank account. One way to avoid that would be to purchase prepaid cards such as a visa giftcard, and use that with paypal.

=That's what I use...a prepaid card. I guess with the horror stories I've heard about Paypal though...even if I could use Paypal...I'd still be hesitant. I mean, I know...if I wanted to that it probably wouldn't be to hard to convince my hubbie since it wouldn't be linked with his bank account. I just wouldn't want it to turn out to be a HUGE mistake on my part. Because the 'I told you so' statement...the way he goes about it makes me fill awfully dang small.

i have paypal connected to my credit and debit card, but not my bank account, and i've never had an issue. anyway, you don't need to save your information with braintree, i don't think. you can just manually input the card info every time you pay.

=Hmm...maybe Braintree wouldn't be so bad after Subeta gets done removing Stripe (as long as they only have temporary access...)...Idk...'cause I really don't want to lose my GA once Stripe's gone.

I was a customer of Paypal waaaay back when they were still called X.Com (X.Com became Paypal in 2001.) They went downhill fast after the changeover, and I haven't transacted over Paypal in at least ten years. I don't blame anyone for not wanting to have a business relationship with Paypal.

I don't know the reasons why Subeta is planning to end their relationship with Stripe, but I hope they'll consider that users who've had negative experiences with Paypal feel very strongly against trusting Paypal with their financial information.

=That sounds to be about the right time of when my parents had THEIR experience and when my hubbie had his. I sure hope they do too...because using Paypal/Braintree...is gonna take some serious convincing of myself...before I'd even ask.

i feel like paypal has probably improved since then, as it's been a very very long time since i've heard any of those paypal horror stories. nowadays pretty much everyone uses it and i've never had an issue, nor anyone i know. it's perfectly reasonable to not want it connected to your bank account, though.

also, if it's your own card that you pay for with your own money, i'm not sure why you'd have to ask your husband's permission to use paypal/braintree.

=Maybe they have improved. I mean heck, my parents have 'horror stories' of Verizon's billing methods from several years ago...and yet my hubbie has used them just as long and has never had a real issue.

Uh...it may be MY card...but its his money. I don't exactly have a job...and he doesn't seem to mind supporting me. I'll let him know about what you said though...and he'll probably do some research to see if there is anything really current.
