I asked this 'way back when' (at least a year ago XD) and i have no idea where the post is (even if it still exists). So..My questions!

-How do 'batches' for a CW work?

  • Since I cant art, about how much might it cost to have someone make it for me?
  • Related to the above...If the artist says they want one from every batch, how would they get that? Would they buy it and i send the money back?
  • Would i get the full purchase price for the CWs if I sold them in the shop, or would I onloy get a certain percentage? (and would the artist be able to get part of it if it can be split?)
  • Can the items be animated somehow (when on your HA), or can it only be on the icon of it?

Pretty sure theres a few others Im forgetting, but i'll add them here if I can remember.

1| Batches are the number of bunches of ten copies you can release. If you have three batches, thirty copies are available to be distributed. You cannot lie about the total number of batches (scamming), but you can choose not to release the entire amount you have set when you submit it.

2| It depends on the artist and what you want to make. I'd go and scope out the Custom Clothing Commissions forum and check the prices on the artist's thread. If you get a background, it could be up to a hundred dollars, but those are by far the most expensive things. Usually it's between 10 and 75 dollars, not including recolours.

3| The artist generally wants one copy from the first batch you submit (unless they're really strange). When you submit a CW, you see a page that looks like this. You have to insert ten names (don't all have to be different) and input slot prices that add up to the total cost of the batch (or more if you want profit). You insert the artist's name and put in zero for slot cost. Generally, submitters also put in a zero for their own name, so you have to figure out a price that allows eight people to make up the total cost.

4|Read this. You would be required to buy a copy for the artist and send it to them. Generally (almost always...I've never seen otherwise), the artist doesn't ask for profit-share unless it was a collab or otherwise worked out beforehand.

5| As far as I know, you cannot animate the actual overlay, only the custom item (icon) for it.

I hope I helped!

So with the CW shop Id only get 15% of the base price? :( And out of it, Id get the entire amount?

For example, I have my hockey jerseys in my shop for 700csc. Since I submitted DTS (direct-to-shop), I got to set a price that was at minimum the 400 base cost (4k to submit a batch of top items, etc). Every time one sells, I get 300csc. It's only if you sell exactly at the base cost that you get 15%. You get more by setting the price. Usually it's 700, though, in my experience. If it's from one of the lower tiers, it'll be cheaper (tights, makeup, jewelry, etc.).

It'll have to be CSC since only very, very, very, very rarely do artists take sP. Most of them only take USD slots, normally, and then one CSC slot that people have to apply for, due to having to pay expenses in the real world.

Another thing- if the base price of a thing is 500CSC, and I sell it at 1kCSC, I would get all of the CSC above the base price?

I wouldn't recommend selling it at 1k because no one will buy it. But yes, technically, you would receive 500csc if it sells (which it won't).

I figured that. I just picked a number that would be easily divided. Unless its FREAKY awesome, I dont think anyone would buy it for that price...At least, directly from the shop. If it had a limited run, and was bought from the user shops or in trades...Maybe
