So someone is most likely spying on my phone, considering this someone got into a facebook account. That is the only way they could know some things since most of my groups are private...there are apps that allow you to spy on phones when you're i n the same plan or something and this all happened after the new phone...anyway I'm wondering if I put a new sim card in my phone, if that would help or if I should definitely get an entirely new phone too. I just realized it had a sim card and learned what they were today...when I took my sim card out the phone looked the same.
I'm very stressed and confused so any thoughts are welcome.
It would probably be a good idea to call the company you have your plan through and ask them specifically what information other people on your plan can see, if you're worried it's someone you share a plan with doing it. Other than that, is there a chance they could have accessed your phone or computer while you weren't looking? That's what I would be assuming, or that they asked friends/family of yours about that specific information. It's unfortunately very easy to get individual people to give up private information, much easier than hacking.
@ kraze Might I ask what is making you believe someone has accessed your FB account? Also, is there anything specific that makes you believe it's via your phone? Do you log into your Facebook account via your computer too? In your FB settings you can view the location and device of places you are logged in your account - that would confirm if an unusual device or IP/location has accessed it, though I don't think someone on the same phone plan as you can access your phone. If you think it's through your phone though - then I'd firstly delete any apps you're unfamiliar with or that you don't know the origin of, like games or any quiz apps, leaving apps that you know you can trust the source of like FB/Twitter/Amazon etc. If you let me know the type of phone you have - Android/iPhone etc, then I can try to see what you can do with your settings. :) (Obviously a change of your FB password (not via your phone if you think that's the crux of the matter) is in order and then keep your eye out for any unusual activity. :))
Edit: after reading your post again and reading 's post, if this someone is a person close to you... I doubt this is malicious, it might just be more a case of them snooping at your account on your phone/computer when you were logged in and not aware, for example. If you could give us a bit more background info I'm sure we can help you further. Other than that, might this person have sent you a link to something through email or messenger that you've opened on your phone/computer that might have downloaded something in order to give them access?
Lastly, please don't stress! This probably isn't as severe as you think it could be. I know us as humans have a tendency to overthink things and it doesn't do us any good. :)
I should have been more detailed but dont really want judged or anything. I live with an abusive relative who's using my disability $ so I'm kind of stuck here still trying to figure out how to get to a shelter safely. Though with my health getting worse that is making me pressured to do so asap. I'm sure my facebook was accessed. I'm just assuming it's through the phone, there are a dozen apps that do it and we have the same phone and it's not even my own plan. I would try one out to learn more about it but it's illegal to do if used maliciously. They are supposed to be used for ailing parents and children. I dont know why nobody thought they could be used for domestic violence. From what I read even your texts and calls themselves can be logged.
@ Kraze I'm really sorry to hear that. :( Can you see any apps installed on your phone that could be the suspicious one to remove it?
I didn't notice any unusual apps but I dont really know what is unusual...I upgraded from a very basic cell with a qwerty keyboard to a touch android. But anyway it had some odd behaviors that I read are signs it's been tapped. Like short battery life, heat, too much use of data which should not have been used at all...and web pages popping up at random. It isn't coincidental that it all stopped shortly after I posted on that facebook a status stating it had been compromised and not to contact that account in the future because they didnt know who they were talking to, and I would soon delete the account. Then there are the things that were known that shouldnt be, and the words used that I would only use online.
Maybe my cell isnt being tapped but I cant take the chance and make calls for help on it. I mean I was calling for about a year like that.
I'll take another look at the phone and see if anything looks suspicious.
Yeah, if you're using the same phone it would be all too easy to get your information through your use of it. I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this situation, it sounds absolutely heinous and I would be just as freaked out about it considering the details.
