So I have eye issues, glaucoma and maybe something else. But I just realized the incredible pain and pressure around my eye socket (where you can feel bone, not the eye itself) is part of a migraine and my eye is not actually going to explode. I've Taken a nap and that was the only time I was pain free today. This started sometime yesterday. I took Advil and that didnt help much, soaked feet in hot water and put a cold ice pack behind my neck. That might have helped but I can still feel it and cant imagine another day of this.

So any tips would be appreciated.

I've been dealing with migraines for almost 15 years, so I completely understand how frustrating it can be. I've tried just about every type of preventative and rescue medication out there and still have to go at least once a month for a cocktail of injections to get relief. Is this the first time you've had a headache with the pain focused around your eye socket? Because that sounds more like a cluster headache than a migraine, but normally it's not just a one time thing. You might want to see a doctor if it's recurring.

Lying down in a dark room with a cold compress (my husband bought me a mask filled with beads that can be put in the freezer so it's icy when i need it - highly recommended!) helps. As far as over the counter, excedrin migraine is the only thing that will even begin to give any relief when mine start...Advil did nothing at all. One other thing that helped a bit was using peppermint oil on my temples, but I could only use that if my sensitivity to smell wasn't killing me.

Everyone's different when it comes to symptoms and how your body reacts to treatment, but I hope maybe some of that helps. Hope you're feeling better!

It's happened before and I thought it had to do with my eyes or sinuses but now I had pain of a migraine moving into my head so I knew what it was finally. Ive had a lot of migraines and ice pick headaches. I did find relief- I ate cinnamon Chex twice yesterday and realized after my second big bowl that I was pain free. I didnt wake up with a migraine today. It's amazing. Googled migraine and cinnamon and others have experienced the same thing. It can be a trigger too though. So I found a cure. Not exactly something I expected.

Thank you.

Not completely sure about migraines, but I know that eating sweet potato helps with the headaches I get! I mean, even if it doesn't help, sweet potatoes are pretty good for you, so it doesn't hurt! I hope you feel better.

I'm sure this thread is dead but I figured I'd offer my help since I get super bad migraines every so often that can fuck my world for like three days. Anyway, when I get migraines I use lavender bath salts and take a bath. Now, the key to this helping even a little is to turn the lights off and use a candle because that is literally heaven on earth. Bathrooms get hella dark and it's super relaxing. Also, you can use essential oils in the bath too. You'd need a what a believe is a castor, but if you can stand the smell of peppermint oil that helps really good with migraines. You can massage essential oils onto your temples and stuff to help with tension. Certain teas are good for migraines and relaxation. But if you get them a lot and they're ruining your life you might want to talk to a doctor.
