I'm a froth-at-the-mouth fan
Sadly, I can't afford to see the movie yet.
Someone on our local radio station was being a butt and stating that die-hard fans would make time to see it this weekend and therefore we should feel free to post spoilers after 72 hours. I was a little offended, even though I got to see the movie already.
Hope you get to see it soon - any hopes in getting tickets as a pressie? <3
Well. I've gotten kinda spoiled already by my brother's friend, but I'm not terribly offended because I could smell it (You know, the Han Solo thing? yeah)
But well. I guess it's fine. I was actually very iffy about Disney making the new movies and "owning" the franchise. I do really hope that the effects are nice and well done and that we don't see many weird animations (or bad touch-up).
I don't get presents for christmas from my relatives, so I'll have to see if I can find some coins here and there.
I figured that part too. I knew something of that sort of plot mechanism was going to happen, and figured it'd either be Solo or Chewie. <3 Chewie though. I love how they made him a little more grey to show how he aged.
I wish I could send you tickets to see it! The effects were definitely on par with the originals. Abrams did a good job staying away from using too much CGI.
CHEWIE!!!❤️ My furry friend, my pal haaaaa. Omg they made him grey?! I'm so so happy. He's no longer young lmao. I mean look at Han Solo for a sec.
Good then. I like the rusty polishing of Star Wars. I wish I could own a true lightsaber, but my plastic one will suffice. It's also really kind of you c;

I loooved the movie. I felt like a kid again when the Star Wars logo popped up on the screen and the theme started playing just like the old days.
I really appreciated how much Abrams stuck to the old effects. The amount of cgi was perfect, and the fact that things were filmed on location really sold it for me.
The one thing that bugged me is that they missed a perfect chance to reference The Empire Strikes Back!! When Han and Leia were hugging at the base, I really wanted him to be the one who says "I love you" and her to say "I know." Like, I could literally picture it and I wanted it so bad because it would've been perfect, but it didn't happen! haha My dreams were crushed. ;^;
I saw it yesterday and the parallels between A New Hope and The Force Awakens are just awesome. I loved it okay. The fight scene between Rei and Kylo Ren was just awesome. Everyone should go see this movie.
Oh gosh- I've gone to see it thrice already. Once at the midnight premier, once the day after, and once the day after that x3.
I hate how they've just retconned the extended universe tho. lIKE WTF THEY CALLED HIM BEN. i can understand that if Luke named him but leia and han never even met the guy. tbh I think Luke probably named him cuz Han and Leia argued over it too much x3
but i mean srsly Ben. Ben Skywalker. Are they just going to shit all over his head and give his name to Kylo Ren instead? =/
And like seriously. Kylo Ren doesn't share the same name as Jacen, but he's basically Jacen.
Tbh I think of movieverse and extended universe as completely different things nowadays though, so it's all fine. Besides, I'm more of an Old Republic fan myself x3. Though I did feel kinda put off when they told me all the dozens of hours I'd put into KOTOR were actually for something that they said "wasn't even canon".
/sigh
but that film, fml
i'm writing so much fanfiction for it atm, like. oops.
I saw it a couple of days ago, the day after release, and all I'll say is: I cried.
I took a friend of mine (who grew up with the originals and is a HUGE, really knowledgeable fan) to see the movie yesterday as part of her Christmas present. I like SW too, but I'm not really in-the-know about it. We both REALLY enjoyed it. She said it's up with Return of the Jedi for her, and that's her favorite of the original movies.
(Still debating going in with a few friends of mine and getting her the Secrets from the Dark Side vault and book for Christmas...)
And just from a cinematography point of view, the scene where they return from the Starkiller? With the celebration on the left while Rey and Leia hug and mourn on the right. That was just such an absolutely perfect shot. May've cried a little bit.
" Okay, so you’ve made some bad decisions. You’ve hurt people. You’ve hurt yourself. You’ve stumbled through life from one self-inflicted disaster to the next without anything even approaching a plan. To which I say: welcome aboard. Maybe you’re not good... but you’re sure as hell good enough. "
Adored the new film, really kept the feel of the old ones; I was on a nostalgia high the entire time. I really loved all the characters.
SPOILER (click to toggle)
Even though this isn't much of one, I thought I'd put it under here just in case: I was tearing up when the x-wings came out...and even though you didn't really learn their names, or much about them besides Po, I was completely in love with the x-wing squadron. I hope there's more of them and about them in the next few films.
Kylo Ren = Helga from Hey, Arnold! General Hux = notice me Snoke-senpai
I've seen the movie now twice, and I can't get enough tbh. I love everything and everyone, the main cast is amazing, and their dynamics are a constant source of enjoyment. AND BB-8, can't forget that tiny space football.
Me and were both new to the franchise before TFA, so we ended up marathoning all six movies right before the release, and now we're in space hell and i love every second of it.
Loved it, as expected. I was following production the whole wayyy. Had reserved tickets on the first day. Saw it about five times.
The toy collecting game is crazy here too. I'm going into debt right now. I'm just waiting for a figuarts toy to come in that I reeally want and debating if I want to buy something from Hot Toys now, but that aside.

I've never been a passionate fan, but I've always liked the Star Wars movies... Tbh I didn't have much hopes for this one, I thought it was like flogging a dead horse, I had NO idea about the cast or anything before I went to see the movie, and I was SO PLEASANTLY SURPRISED when I walked out of the movie theater. The movie was quite fast-paced, but I don't think think that was necessarily a bad thing. The main cast was absolutely amazing. <3
Before anyone sees The Force Awakens, if they haven't seen a Star Wars movie before, it is highly recommended you watch the original trilogy which is Episode 4, 5, and 6. Those will tell you everything and apply the appropriate background roots for you to completely understand The Force Awakens (Episode 7).
I myself just saw the trilogy over the past month thanks to my boyfriend, and it took me a little to warm up to the story and the characters but when I went to see Episode 7, I was blown away by it. Definitely the best Star Wars film so far, and I hope they keep that trend.
I've heard people say that the next movie, Episode 8, is planned to have the same vibe as Empire Strikes Back did (Episode 5). It's almost as if they're attempting to reboot Star Wars for a new generation of fans while still continuing with the storyline.
Also by now, spoilers are almost guaranteed to come up since it's been almost a month since the movie released.
I actually didn't see that coming. The way they filmed the scene made it look like it could've gone either way in the moment. Kylo was pleading for help to his father (Han Solo) by feeling the pull of the light side. He then asks Han to help him stop the pain, in which Han agrees to do anything his son asks of him. It was a solid 15-20 seconds before the sound of Kylo's light saber stopped everyone's heart in the theater and my mouth just dropped. I still refuse to believe he was killed haha, I liked Han's character above most others in Episode 7, so it was heartbreaking to see that happen.
And BB-8...cutest robotic soccer ball I've ever seen lol. The movie had everything going for it, I already saw it twice so now I'm trying to get answers to some popular questions like who is Rey's father? My money is on Luke, but we'll have to see.
