Before animals were domesticated many (most?) had "ancestral" or primitive patterns/colours that helped them survive and the same is presumably true for subetan pets. How coolio would it be to have as a colour on subeta? Answer: like, super cool.
Agouti/wolf-grey: Kumos, ruffie, telenine
Primitive equine markings: Hikei, legeica, etc
Mouflons or norwegian wild sheep. Devonti and sheeta
Wildcats, fishing cats, marbled cats for feli, tigrean etc
Heck cattle, an attempt to breed back the exinct aurochs. Bovyne!
Quilled tail in psittacosaurus: Obv, the bhakoru. Idk how else to differentiate it from the common bhakoru since the colour is already very well camouflaged in saheric sands.
Camouflaged sneks. Like the aeanoid, donadak, serpenth etc.
Early feathered tyrannosaurids: Mortiking
Early feathered dromaeosaurids: Velosotor
All the birds: (chants) Archaeopteryx, archaeopteryx, archaeopteryx! May have been iridescent black how cool is THAT
The prussian carp is the origin of the common goldfish, ie, the torrent
Wyllop: common brown rat.
Just some brainstorming 👌
Subeta pets aren't real world animals though. Besides, I feel like some of these would be pretty boring, not to mention some pets like the Serpenth already have very natural markings.
I'm more for overlay's in general than for new colors, but the photo's are beatiuful and it's a fact many of the subetapets are inspired of real animals. I'm not against a wild color at all.
If this color comes out once, I think it's great. Meybe I'll paint one of mine in a wild color.
I think this one is better suited to an overlay, especially since Subeta lore =/= real life history and there are a bunch of pets that wouldn't really work for this (Harvester, Warador, Dillema, Aeanoid, Cadogre, Endeavor)
Hmm, I don't know where I stand on the lore thing. I mean, we have plenty of clothing items with animal patterns and if Subeta's fashion designers can get inspired by them I wouldn't put it past some obsessed NPC to go out of their way to create a potion to bring out these kind of super detailed wild patterns in the pets themselves. With this inspiration in mind I don't think it necessarily wouldn't work for the species mentioned above. Imagine a dilemma stitched together with of patches of tiger and leopard print fabric, and similar kinds of bold, animal inspired patterns on the other species.
I think personally I'd quite like this as a colour, as the "wildest" colours we have are glade and harvest, and they don't quite fit the "wild" that I'm talking about. But that's just a thought!
I was slightly against this at first but the more I thought about it, the cooler a "wild" color became to me. Since these are subeta PETS they have been domesticated which means presumably they were once wild and may have looked different. I like 's idea of the dilemma being made of tiger or leopard print fabric and really that could also apply to the warador. I imagine a wild harvester would be more caveman-like, maybe with a heavy fur coat instead of a cloak and a spear instead of a scythe; which could also apply to the warador being more cavemanish since it's a bit humanoid. It's a color that would require a lot of careful thought and creativity for the pets that aren't directly based on real animals but I believe it could work.
I agree that with creativity -- which the team has! -- this could work and would be great. Wild-patterned domestic animals are quite popular in the real world, after all. There's lots of options, too, for most of the pets, as we've got multiple species of wild dog/cat/hoofed animal/etc on earth to take inspiration from.
I'm not even a big fan of the robotic species but imagine if their primitive style was all clunky, riveted steel, with tons of exposed wiring, like real-world prototypes? The real challenge will be the lunar pets, I think. I'm not sure what could be done with something like a Kora besides maybe a less cute version? Their space faring form might not have been as appealing.

I love this idea! Feral versions of the mostly adorable subeta pets would be an interesting change, definitely a potion I'd sink a few million SP into. An issue I see is with something like, say, the Ruffie; how do you maintain the essence of what each pet is if it's so very FAR from wild in its common form?
