Would it be possible to have a way of other users seeing what is under a persons tree? Like I (the person with the tree) wouldn't be able to see what's been gifted (for the element of surprise), but other gifters could. I know when I'm putting a WL item under someone's tree I always worry that someone already gifted it... If there was a way to peek at what other people have gifted them, then person with the tree wouldn't end up with duplicates.
just a thought - I know the subeta team has a lot on their plate right now, but this could be an idea for the future...
EDIT : JUST HAD A THOUGHT - What if you could just do a search of a particular item... like instead of seeing all the items under a tree (which could be an abused function), you could just check to see if a certain item is under there. Example - thinking of giving a person a subeautique invite? look for that item under their tree and see that 3 have been already gifted
yea I thought about that too, but if a person really wants to know then I guess that's up to them - NO SURPRISE 4 U
idear about gifts under the tree
Okay, but have you considered that I may want duplicates?
If I don't want duplicates, I'll sell the duplicates.
I feel like this is suggested every year, and every year it is turned down. They just want the trees to be complete surprises... and though I, too, worry about giving duplicates... they aren't really a bad thing? It's the thought that matters... and you can always sell the duplicates.
So... I am ambivalent about this.
I understand your worry's and concerns. ;)
I have think about this subject and in the meantime I'm more for a system by the wishlist which item the person has got already than to see what kind of presents a person have got under the tree.
On the other hand the person who get an item double can indeed always decide to do what he/she wants.
I think that the sentiment behind the idea is really nice, but I agree with . It would likely be abused to some degree, and ultimately what's the harm with a few duplicates anyway? I got a surprising amount of duplicates in a prior year (despite my ginormous wishlist :P), but I just sold off the copies I didn't need to get different stuff.
There are also a lot of people who buy presents in advance of the trees opening up, and it would be kind of awful to buy a really expensive gift for someone a little early just to find out you weren't the first person to place it under their tree and now need to come up with something new. I'd rather get the duplicate than have friends worry about that.
