Hello everyone! Firstly I apologize if this is in the wrong place, I wasn't sure where else it could go.

Recently (to be honest for the past 5 months or so) I got a stomach related illness with a side effect of almost constant nausea. I've tried pretty much anything to help relieve the symptoms, so I guess this topic is my last little pathetic attempt at getting some help, but it's also because I'm interested about what works from person to person. So I'm curious- how do you deal with nausea when the problem arises?

Honestly, I've even been prescribed anti-nausea medication specifically for people with my condition but sadly with no relief with added sleeping problems from them (so, naturally, I've stopped taking them). Most of the suggestions I read online also involved mint and ginger, which I can't stand. I'm not expecting some miracle cure, but I'm definitely open to suggestions.

I usually just eat a handful of unsalted saltines. Haven't tried anything else since that works for me.

Cinnamon? Yogurt? Obviously not mixed.

Ugh, I'm sorry you've been having to deal with that for so long. :/

To be honest I just drink water until the feeling goes away. Most of the time it just gets the bad taste out of my mouth to the point where I can focus on something else.

Crohn's Disease here, in remission for about two years now. I learned that if I exercise lightly, it helps tone down both nausea and stomach pain. I stretch my arms over my head, take deep breaths and walk on my treadmill.

There's also antacids like Pepcid and Tums that can sometimes take the edge off, depending on the source of the nausea.

Chamomile. Settles stomach and is also an anti-inflammatory.

I try similar methods, usually bland things are the only things I can keep down anyway XP

I can't have yoghurt sadly, but for cinnamon do you mean cinnamon flavoured things?

Drinking water is usually a good thing regardless. I usually drink water and hope it makes me feel better too ^^ But at least I know I'm getting an adequate amount of water in my system nowdays hahaha

I'm in a similar boat. They aren't sure if I have an infection or possibly IBD since it's in our family, and also because my symptoms change between the two (I possibly have both. Fingers crossed I don't.) so this was something I was looking for. I was kind of too nervous about posting that in the initial thread though. I've found that light exercise helps too. I try to do a few laps in the pool and when I'm in there it honestly makes me feel normal again ;v; I just wish it lasted forever, because it usually comes back a few hours afterwards though. I'm definitely going to try chamomile tea now, though. Thank you!

When I was pregnant I was nauseous pretty much non-stop for two months. I tried lots of different suggestions and I think that ice lollies probably helped the most. I made my own from pure fruit juices, sometimes adding a bit of sugar or pureed fruits (baby food "smoothie" with 100% fruit works great). The coldness helped calm my stomach and I kept hydrated when it was hard to keep anything else down.

Hope you'll feel better soon!

Gingerale, perhaps? That's my boyfriend's solution to everything, to be honest. But I know it works for nausea during particularly bad episodes of sea sickness.

I mostly get nausea from motion sickness, so the source of nausea is completely different for me, but I thought I'd post anyway.

These work for me: Fizzy drinks (even just carbonated water, but I find sugary drinks help the most), cold air/drink/food, deep breaths, taking a nap... ginger probably too, but I already consume it on a daily basis (I put it in a smoothie), so it's hard to tell how much it helps. :p

I used to have horrible acid reflux, so my advice might not apply but cutting out acidic food and drinks really helps prevent the nausea. Drinking soda made me feel the worst. If I felt really bad I'd chew on ice chips to slowly get hydrated without overwhelming my stomach.

I live with nausea pretty much 100% of the time. Its low level, so mostly I ignore it, but when it ramps up I use the solutions already proposed. Plain, unsalted saltine crackers or dry toast. Seven up, with sugar, though sometimes we only have diet and that helps too, but not as much. I don't like gingerale, but I do have a friend who swears by it.

Otherwise its mostly avoiding things. For me motion is a huge trigger, so if I'm feeling strongly nauseous I avoid looking at screens with movement (TV, most computer games, etc). Then I seriously have to police my thoughts because I have a tendency to think about things that will make it worse.

I would check in with a doctor if this has had a large impact on your quality of life.

Have you tried cola syrup? My local pharmacy carries Flents brand. I can sympathize with you because feeling nauseated is my least favorite ailment. Mint and ginger are my go-to remedies but I know both of those are off-limits to you. Feel better!

Thanks to everyone for the help! I kind of forgot about this thread, I'll be trying a few of the suggestions soon.

I have consulted many doctors. They've done nothing for me haha, which is why I've made this thread. The only anti-nausea medications I can take haven't worked so I've been told I need to suck it up till it passes ^^

A hot bubble bath usually helps me. I've had stomach problems for 15+ years and this almost always does the trick. Throw some essential oils in for aromatherapy. Peppermint is a common one for stomach pain.

I deal with constant nausea myself. I have a sensitive stomach and severe anxiety, which come together to make me miserable! I always have flat coke on hand, which usually helps when the nausea isn't too extreme (or cola syrup, if you can get your hands on it). For more extreme nausea I'll use Emetrol, which works better than the stuff the doctor prescribed me with the added bonus of not making me tired like the prescription does.

But I'm not a doctor or a pharmacist so you should probably run it all by your doctor to make sure its ok for you to take. Good luck!

sadly I've never lived anywhere with a bath so that's out of the question ^^ it sounds lovely though, you're very lucky! I'm glad it helps you!

I think I'm going to try the cola syrup since a few other people have suggested it! I'm not meant to have caffeine because it can upset my stomach lining (or something like that) so I'll ask my doctor before I take it, but it seems like the best bet out of the things I haven't tried yet. Thank you!

The cola syrup itself doesn't contain caffeine, but it does have sugar :)

Saltine crackers + Carbonated apple drink! I've been eating this combo since I was a kid for any nausea inducing illness and it works like a charm. I feel like the key is burping, even if it doesn't actually help, I feel like it really helps you placebo into feeling better!

Did they give you the cherry dissolve-on-your-tongue ones? I had those when I got a concussion and had post-concussion syndrome (nausea all the time, yay!). They worked for me with no other side effects.

Ginger really is the way to go. Ginger tea or ginger ale are good, but literally eating ginger root raw is the best remedy. You might have to suck up the taste in order to get rid of the nausea!
