Yes, you get one every year, on the exact anniversary you joined the site (date and time). You go to this page to collect it, and if you don't get one you should file a ticket.

There hasn't been a limit in the past, and I think it's reasonable to expect a Box each year. I have gotten one for each of the eight years I've been here, and each time I look in the Achievements, there's always two more available than I have so they appear to be adding more in as we go.

The actual time-counter measures in oddly shaped months so you can have 11months and 5 weeks sometimes. But it will get to the exact time and date you joined in the end.

I used the extra pet slot totem, and now it said that I have 11 open pet slots now. Where did the extra 10 came from? I didn't even buy them.
