Hello everyone! Welcome to the opening of Art Club! Whether you are a traditional or non-traditional artist or photographer, every form of art is welcome here.

To start off, there will be two different features of art club:

☆First, this will be a place for wizarding members to showcase their art (HP or non-HP). You can receive feedback on current works or older ones and discuss art topics.

☆Second, for those who wish to participate, I think it would be neat to hold contests to enhance features in the guild through this club. As it stands, we don’t have much user-based art in the guild. For example, it would be nice to have pieces for Quidditch, house banners for the great hall, etc. (Note: Participation in this part is optional.)

If you are interested in joining, please mention what type of art you enjoy. Feel free to share a link to your portfolio. Also, let me know if you are willing to create guild-related/contest art.

Rules: In order to keep this board friendly for all types of members, please keep your posts here pg-13. Should you wish to share mature works, you may issue a link with a warning. Also, remember to follow Forum Guidelines when sharing pictures. Do not post images that exceed the current limit of 325 pixels in height or 450 pixels in width. Instead, you can link them.

Your custom wearables are gorgeous. Do you create both the outfits and the icons? That must take a lot of concentration to make works that are so small are particular, whilst following Subeta guidelines.

Welcome to the group! I added everyone's profiles to the Artist Spotlight. If we don't have enough participation in the contests, I may just issue a list of guild art and see if anyone would like to sign up to create a particular piece. In the meantime, feel free to share any art you're working on. If you get stuck or need advice, I hope this can be a good place to come to for feedback.

Your works are gorgeous. I particularly like the black and white sketches and color pencil works. The Xweetok piece takes me back. I used to have a DA littered with Neopets application art. I'm glad Subeta is not so competitive with adoptions. cx

Your Tumblr art tag is really cool! I love seeing the works in progress. The tide work is hilarious! That sounds like a fun project-idea to base it off of a famous work. What do you hope to do when you finish art school?

That sleepover piece is gorgeous. I noticed it a few weeks back and meant to say something to you. You certainly have a skill for coloring and shading hair! Thank you for offering to help with the guild. I will definitely let you know. In the meantime, if you come up with any ideas that you think could improve the guild, I encourage you to share!

Yea, it was really fun to paint. The final piece was done in Gouache on illustration board. It was for one of my classes that I've been using the theme of 'beheadings' for. In the class we're paired up in groups of five to six to help each other and my teammates said if I didn't continue the theme they'd be sadly disappointed. Now I'll be doing a paper cut illustration about Mary Mary, Quite Contrary. (Flowers and beheadings!)

I want to be an animator (like frame by frame drawing) however, in 'murica that's not something that people pay for. I could become a story board artist or concept artists, so I'm thinking of looking overseas. Even in France they still do 2D animations in house. I might also look into book illustration.

Paper Cut Illustrations are so neat! Definitely post a link with your progress on the Mary project. I love a good creepy illustration. It's sad that 2D animation is becoming a dying art in many animation companies. I generally prefer the frame by frame works.

It's amazing that you had the dedication to finish that piece, then. My attention span with art projects lasts a couple of days, tops. Ah, thank you! I had a plan to make a much larger costume set, but, like I mentioned: low attention span. Are you working on anything right now?

I'm going to go ahead and start (semi)weekly goals.

I work in really short lived spurts. Sometimes I go wild and work on something for like 7 hours and then put it down for a month... Considering all the things I have in my one folder I would say I am working on three to five things? But "working" is not so much the word for it. More like staring at the file and frowning XDD Also I am super easily distracted... If I'm not binge drawing.

That constellation blanket is really cool! Best of luck meeting your goals. pom-poms I would like to see it when it is finished :D Or at least if you feel like snapping an update.

I'm butting in to say that 2D animation is freaking amazing and you are awesome for keeping it alive. The artistry that goes into it is just so mind blowing. I hope you are able to find a position in the field. That would just be the coolest.

Not sure if you are into anime style movies, but Redline from 2009 was mostly hand drawn and it really rocks IMO.

Hah. I can definitely relate to that. That's good that you have a lot of works going at once. At least, it may give you some variety. You seem to work mostly digitally.

What is the main drawing program that you use? I assume you have a digital drawing tablet as well? I've been using an expired Paint Tool SAI. It works pretty well, but as it's expired, I can't open or save files.

Oh, and thank you! I haven't worked on it in over a year, so I really need to get moving.

I use SAI as well. There is a free copy floating around the internet, I can try and find you a link if you like? But I understand preferring the legit copy. lol. Heard great things about Clip Studio, but I missed it when it was on sale and I haven't been motivated to drop fifty bucks on something I'm not sure I will like or not. I do use a tablet. Wacom is the only brand I have ever used and so far they have been great. Started with a Bamboo Fun, I think, and now I have an Intuos 4. Aside from having to restart the drivers every once in a while the tablet itself holds up great.

Totally thought the blanket WAS finished, it looks so good. But it can only get better, so I'm excited to see what you have in mind for it! :D

Oh, yes, if you can find it, that would be awesome! I do love the program, specifically how you can make very smooth, fluid lines. And the layering looks great. How do you like the Intuos compared to the Bamboo? I've had a Bamboo for maybe six years. It's now quite scratched up. I've noticed the driver issues too. But it is a good tablet!

Welcome to art club. I'm glad you decided to join! :) That town picture is great! I love the detailing on the buildings, like the smaller pink one in the background and the train. I take it that it's from the Sherlock series? I thought it was you who drew my HP character on one of the art boards a few months back. You do a great job drawing outfits!

Really like the intuos. The tablet top itself feels more similar to pencil on paper than all shiny and slippery like the bamboo. And it came with a bunch of replacement nibs (pen tips) and like angled ones... I haven't used them but I think it is pretty cool they were included. The tablet itself is larger so I need more space for it, but over all I like it more than the Bamboo. The top still gets scratched up a bit, sort of worn looking, but I haven't noticed any difference in functionality. Pressure still works just fine. I never really use the shortcut buttons on the tablet, but the intuos has them on the side instead of on the top making it easier to access without putting down the pen. Oh and IDK what type of pen you are using, but the intuos came with one that has an eraser on the other side just like a real pencil so you can flip it instead of changing the brush you are using :D

It worked! I'm so excited to finally save and load files. Thank you! The eraser pen sounds awesome. It feeling more like a pencil on paper would be nice too. I'll have to look into that whenever I decide to purchase a new tablet.

I love all of the colors in your new work, especially the backdrop. And the little bits of light reflected on the fur and hair makes the subjects pop. I noticed that you mentioned the development of your art "style." I can definitely sense a certain vibe through all of your DA pieces.
