Is anyone else a Certified Nurse Assistant? Or something similar like a PCA?
I'm technically not a CNA, in fact I'm nothing 'care' related at all, lol. But I work in an assisted living facility (as a receptionist/concierge) so I sometimes take on certain tasks that otherwise care staff would do - taking residents to their rooms, getting them things like snacks or drinks, making sure they have what they need, etc. There are quite a few CNAs and a couple of RNs and LPNs where I work though, so I see all the things they go through every day. It's a tough job and I have to give major props to anyone who can do it!
Yeah, there are a lot of days where everyone wants something all at once and we need a little extra help.
I've been a CNA for three years, and I recently passed my state boards for my Med Tech. [:
The system in my country seems to be really different from the rest of the world but I'm currently on my way to become a nurse with a specialization on geriatric medicine. 1.5 more years to go...if I survive this. x_X
I worked for a facility that would train us. But my ADON hated me sooo..... lol
Yeah, I was thinking about doing nursing as well! I would do the LPN then bridge to RN ASN.
I'm an EMT and I work as a Safety Sitter. I have a lot of respect for the hard working CNAs. Long hours and shit end of the stick. My hat is off to you all
I'm a CNA, state certified and it's no walk in the park. I love my residents, but the hours are long and you definitely do not get paid enough. I was mostly filling in, working six, five days out of the week to bring home a decent paycheck every two weeks.
I'm an STNA (State Tested Nurses Aide) I've worked in several nursing homes and sadly I no longer work in one since I got hurt on the job.
I'm not a CNA myself, but I work alongside many CNA's on a daily basis and our wards would fail without them. Most if not all of them work 12 hour shifts and they honestly don't get paid enough. Nothing but pure respect for all healthcare staff!
