Hi guys, I don't really know how active this forum is but well... I'm really devastated. My dog passed away earlier today and it was really sudden. I've never had the experience of losing a loved one before so the grief has hit me pretty hard. The worst part is that I'm studying in university halfway around the globe, and can't even come back to say my goodbyes. I'm absolutely heartbroken, I've had him for 4 years and I love him so much...

Does anyone have advice about mourning a pet's death... or just a friend to talk to I'd really appreciate it.

I am so sorry to hear that your beloved dog passed away. It can be horrible having to deal with the pain and sadness of losing him. Pets can give us so much joy and unconditional love, and then after a short time they leave us.

I too, lost my dog to cancer earlier this year. It was heartbreaking, and even though it's been over half a year that's gone by, I still miss him. I still feel as if a part of me is missing.

My best advice I can give you, is remember all the wonderful times you had with him. How lucky you were to have had him in your life, and that he changed you for the better.

While it may sound strange, I found that making a pet profile page for my dog on Subeta helped immensely. I will look at it from time to time and add some treasures that remind me of my dog. I also found it comforting to talk to friends and family about my dog, and recount stories about him. People mourn differently and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. You may want to browse some websites about grief or pet loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss! I absolutely understand what you're going through. I can't even imagine that the full weight of the situation has sunk into me...

I'm so grateful to have had him, and I've been telling everyone about the lovely memories we've had. I'm lucky to have good friends and family who will listen to me. He was bitten by a poisonous snake yesterday, so it was really sudden and recent. He was really young still.

I might consider making a pet tribute to him once I feel a bit stronger. Thank you so much for your kind words and advice.

I am very sorry for your loss. I lost my cat monday due to a horrible accident. I know how you feel, our pets are family and it is really tough to get over. I too made a tribute pet for my baby and its still is painful to think about. :/ I still have yet to find a way to get over my cat so I can't say much to help you. But, I can say if you need anyone to talk to feel free to message me anytime! c:

It's never easy, and the pain never completely goes away. My beloved best bud, Solo, passed back in April of 2013 and I still get a lump in my throat when I think of him..., but it does get easier to deal with as time goes by. Like and I have a tribute pet (Suds) for my boy, and it does help to remember the good times we had together rather than that last awful day at the Vets.

S#*!@!! Now I'm crying again.

Like my HA?
