OK... So I am currently getting this shorts commissioned by . However, due to some of the complications of the bottom layer of the shorts, I didn't quite know how to proceed.

The complication is that regardless of how it looks like, it currently looks like a skirt while the main reference looks more like a shorts. How should I make it look like a pair of shorts instead of a skirt?

I think its the length and cutting of the shorts that you can tweak a bit? [preview=Spiffy Fabric Wrapped Basket] like pointy pointy at some parts? =0

could you perhaps show a larger version? it's hard to see right now -- but basically, the way the legs are placed, it's super hard to make poofy shorts because the lace is going to touch both sides.

The only way would be to make the inner thighs a bit skinnier, and compensating the poofy/layered feel on the outer edges!

Oooh. that looks like a hard design to make it look like super "short" xD I like the third one best as well!!!! I think maybe because of the dark colour, it's harder to see?

I appreciate everyones eyes and time on this. its been a real head scratcher from one person who does bgs to shorts. im still learning, so thank you much for everyones support and help. ill take advice so far and after in great consideration.

but after getting over my nasty long cold..I looked at everyones feedback...again.. So I just redid it totally. Thankfully that time gave me a fresh outlook and (sorry in advance for taking so long already and in general. Clothes are a challenge from time to time. OTL)

I have a lighter verison(pink is the original color I started from) then made a black,but i had to tweak the black shades as i wanted it light enough to see the details but yet still look like black. I have working size and subeta size.

So does this look more like shorts and more improved? if not i look forward to your comments on what i didnt do right so i can get better(thankfully I have sai now which makes this process so much quicker)

Those look much better to me! They do look like shorts. The problem with shorts that really are short is that dang "crotch seam." It doesn't even have to be ruffled to look "odd and heavy lined." I think you've hit a really good balance!
