Okay, Subetans. I have this lovely K. Rool fanpet right here:

He is a Nostalgic Mortiking and I paid a lot of money to get him that way, and have been very happy! But... since coming back, I discovered this beauty, the Experiment 716.

Now... K. Rool is a crocodile and crocodiles are also one of my favorite animals, so it seems natural that I pursue this. But I'm hung up on two things: the amount of money I spent on my Nostalgic Mortiking and the fact that even after a hundred zaps, I still may not get him turned into a 716. Also, aesthetically, K. Rool looks slightly more like the Mortiking but... crocodile.
See? I just keep talking myself in circles. If you were me, what would you do?

@ Strength I totally feel your pain, as I sometimes was in similar situations.
To me, I really need to ignore the $ factor. More than often, when it concerns color/species, I end up spending more than I plan to save when I'm focused on saving. So I guess it's really important to push away factors like this, and just focus on determining a pet that you truly like.
About the crocodile vs mortiking thing, again, I would go with my heart to pick the one I like better, instead of following apparent logic. For example, I have a pet that was supposed to be a penguin, but I don't like cybills, so I picked a lain in the end.
I hope it helps a little. Best luck deciding :)!

You could use your yearly totem to add a pet slot and just have two crocodile pets. It will take a lot of zapping though. But it may be worth it!
When pigs fly, I want to ride one.
Thanks for the advice! It helped a lot. After thinking about it, I'm pretty hard-pressed to change K. Rool from a Nostalgic Mortiking. I really love him that way. However, brought up a great alternative! I did just get my loyalty totem a few days ago, so I may just make a new pet that I can work on making the crocodile experiment. Most pet projects I have are pretty much finished in terms of colors, so I think I can spare some zapping money. With any luck, I may get 716 without having to pour millions into it.
Thank you both for your advice! It helped a lot.
