Hi, So I've decided to take up battling quite recently and there are still a few things that I haven't got the hang of. Here they go:

1. Scrolls & AP: In the old days AP points used to be subtracted as soon as a scroll is equipped/ read to a pet, but now things have changed a little bit so I have been quite confused with how the AP system works. So will APs be subtracted as soon as a scroll is added to the scroll library, or only when it is added to a scroll set? Or is it that APs are actually not 'subtracted' at all, rather they decide whether a scroll set can be used by a pet in battle? Say, if my pet's AP is 61, can he use different sets of scrolls with very different scrolls as long as the total AP is less than 61, or can he only use a few certain scrolls initially equipped/ taught to him that total 61 in APs?

2. Very Hard Opponents: So I have been doing Battle Quests recently, and so far have stopped at Lvl 15 because I'm just afraid my pet is still not strong enough for the Very Hard opponents. Could someone please tell me at which tier or with what stats can a pet start tackling this group of opponents? My pet is currently an early-stage T6 with around 1000 HP and 650 for every other stat. I guess he might not be strong enough right? I've just tried battling Carion Lord and was knocked out (managed to beat him to 800-something HP, then lost to him). I wonder if my pet would stand any chance against the Dentist, because according to the order on the Challenge main page he will be more difficult than the Carion Lord right (please correct me if I'm wrong here)? My pet's current battle set is (I know it's more than 8 but I tend to pick different weapons from these for different opponents) for scroll I've got only the I'm pretty sure this set can be improved so could you please give me some suggestions as well? I've got more than 100 Hard tokens and around 200 tokens for each of the lower level in the battle shop, and I wonder if I should spend them on any weapons there.

2. Challengers are sorted by difficulty but within difficulty they're alphabetical, so Dentist is not at all harder than Carrion Lord. Look at stats and sort of mentally combine them, or take a calculator and average them.

Get a Freezewand from the MC and combine it with your Reborn Wand to make a Reborn Icewand. Lucent and Aemis are frankly just pretty baubles more than good weapons, so I'd switch those out. I'd wait for someone else to give more input on a t6 set, but I like the and .

Thanks a lot for your answers :D I bought both legendaries when weapons were not tiered so they were of big help for my pet then with stats equalling tier 2 or 3 now, but I agree that they are just decorations now and would better sit in my wardrobe XD Have you perhaps beaten the dentist? Have you got perhaps a rough idea of what icons he does and blocks?

I've beaten him, I... totally forget hahaha. Sorry, at a certain point I stop caring about icons and just steamroll with my pet. Maybe ask in the Battle Chat? There are people in there that are usually on top of what the icons are/strategy.

I've found this thread to be particularly helpful when it comes to choosing weapons for each tier, and keeping an eye on what weapons I'll buy right before I move up a tier.

As for Tier 6, my set is something like:

along with thrown in, depending on what the battle at hand calls for.

In terms of scrolls, I've mostly been using as a great bomb and healing scroll, though with your high HP you might find the 300HP heal a little lacking. Still, my set includes two full healers as well as constant healing from the reborn icewand and knocker, so I find that the 300HP heal is a great bonus in addition to the 40 icons the scroll does. I also like to keep a in my set because it's cheap, and the 8% heal comes in handy while I wait to use a Morosbane Scroll.

: Thank you very much for the detailed comment. I really appreciate the time you've put into answering my question ^^. I have referred to the weapon guide and found it very helpful, though for battles against opponents a little difficult for my pet (the Dentist, for example) I think I can benefit from more specific weapons tailored to those challengers' icons. One last question though, could you please tell me which modification crystals are most worth buying? I remember reading someone posting about this already but my pet wasn't able to tackle even the Hard challengers then so I didn't make a mental note of it. The only crystal that I remember reading about is the parched baguette.

In those cases I would suggest looking at the guide I linked above - it details the weapons each challenger carries, so that way you can choose which specific icons to deal/block. The writer of that guide also suggests some weapons to use, and I find it additionally helpful to cross reference his guide with The Weapon Guide to see which weapons would be most effective.

For crystals, parched baguette is often your best bet as it protects against freezing. Though, at Tier 6, I generally don't find freezing to be that big of an issue and generally keep my weapons modded with the offensive elemental crystals, just to add a bit of extra damage. That might just be personal preference, so I really recommend trying out different combinations to see what you prefer. I've also seen a lot of battlers use the critical strike crystals to add an additional chance of doubling your damage via critical hit. Again, personal preference, along with the specific challengers you're having trouble facing.

The Dentist deals dark and physical icons, so take a look through The Weapon Guide to see what would be best there. I haven't gotten around to battling him yet otherwise I would have done that myself! ^-^
