I live with a family in NYC and one of the dogs we live with, Marshmallow, a beautiful malamute had to be euthanized this morning. I'm just feeling really bad about it because she was just going for a normal vet appointment so I never got a chance to say goodbye to her...When my housemates took her in this morning they found a bone tumor that no one knew about. She was already getting really old and it was a bit hard for her to move around, but they said a dog her age and size (she was 7 and a half and 135lbs.) wouldn't be able to handle the treatment necessary to handle it. Sadly it came down to the heart-wrenching decision of having her be in a lot of pain constantly or euthanizing her. I'm glad she won't be in pain anymore, but I miss her so much.
I know people probably don't want to hear about this, but I just needed to get it off my chest. Thank you for listening.

I'm really sorry to hear that. Malamutes are beautiful and losing any pet is heart wrenching. My boss actually texted me last night to let me know that her Siamese got run over. He was a leash cat, always in the office, and I helped bottle feed him. It's still not really set in that I won't see him again. He was always darting around, had no street smarts. It was everyone's big fear, and it happened.
I bet Marshmallow was spoiled rotten and had an excellent life.
I am so sorry you had to make that decision. I've lost a couple of pets myself and know how hard it can be. If nothing else, I hope getting this off your chest helps you get through this.
I am so sorry for your loss. If I can be of any help, even if just by listening, my comments are always open.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss too! Hang in there :(
Thank you so much ;_; It did help a bit
Thank you I really appreciate it.

I'm so sorry. You and your housemates are in my thoughts and prayers - may you have the peace and comfort you need right now. Losing an animal is never easy, and I can only imagine the added pain from its suddenness. hugs Good dogs like Marshmallow mark our souls and never really leave us.

Oh no, I'm so sorry D: I know what it's like to lose a dog; we had to put down my dog Theo back in 2007. Theo had been in our family since my sister and I were little, but he was getting on in years. He was 18 and had a lot of health problems (he was losing his sight, hearing, and even his ability to walk), and my mom and her roommate took him to be put down while I was in town. I was upset because I didn't know they were doing it until after they told me, but I knew it was the best choice because he was miserable. I still miss him, and I've been wanting to get a dog again ever since. :(
I'm sure Marshmallow is in a better place now, and I hope you feel better :(
I'm so, so sorry that happened. I can only imagine the pain you and your housemates are going through- but I can empathize. My 15-year-old cat died last night. Losing a pet is so, so tough. I wish you and all your housemates the best.
