I just got the achievement for purchasing from the forum shop after I made a purchase from the braintree bonus shop. Is this a thing? Was this a thing that was announced somewhere or already asked and I just couldn't find it? Apologies if it's already been answered (probably a million times).

Nope, it's a bug. I'm not sure if there's a thread or not, but I think someone mentioned it in the news comments. You should probably report it and/or file a ticket to have the achievement removed
