Not able to create a pet with spaces in the name?

I've been trying to create a pet with spaces in the name, but instead of being able to create it, I get a message that says, "Oh No! Your new username must be alphanumeric! You are not allowed any special characters except for the underscore(_)" I've checked several things. The name is available, and I even put it in a url to see if the pet existed to be sure, and no such pet has been created. I'm not sure why I get that sort of error specifying my username, though. I've been able to create pets with spaces in the names before, such as my most recent pet, Pink Diamond, made on 9/17/15. I've tested out other untaken random names with spaces, and I get the same issue every time. Are we not allowed to make pets with spaces in the names anymore?
Is this something that happened when you looked at the pet name length limit?
After investigating the error from earlier I came across some other issues with pet creation (things that have broken the database, names with weird characters, etc). I changed it to the same as usernames so that we can do some research on the effect of those names on Monday when I get back into the office :)
Until then, you won't be able to make a name with spaces (or other strange characters) in it outside of a -.
