This is not just for Morostide, but for all holidays that have a holiday forum on site

Staff has, in the past, closed the holiday forum the night that the event/holiday ends, encouraging us to get our contests finished up before the event ends. I don't know about you, but I don't like to end a contest prematurely unless it's something that I've pre-determined. They should be allowed to end when the event ends and then give contest holders an additional week (keeping said holiday forum open) starting the day after the event ends to tally things up and hand things out. Closing the holiday forum the night the holiday/event ends doesn't give sufficient time to count tallies and end contests. This would be especially difficult for Morostide. The 31st is when ToTing times get shortened the most and when the most feverish ToTing happens to try and build those scores up as it gives people that last burst of enticement. Please give us an additional week to count tallies and give prizes out so that it won't be so difficult for us to end things.

I suggest a week so that RL stuff can be taken into account.

Pretty sure they already started doing this? iirc we had a news post that mentioned when the forum would close (a week after the holiday) for whatever the last holiday was that had a forum

I don't know if they have or not, but I remember either Masq or Vesnali where they told us to close up early. I don't want to see that happening again :/

Or just expect it to happen and have your contests end accordingly? Like if it's going to end on the 31st at 1159p then shut it down at 10p. Screen cap what you need from the forum and take your time to tally.

Exactly, a+ suggestion.

Plan properly, especially with holidays that have a fixed ending. Everyone knows Morostide ends at the moment it ends. You can def. plan your event to finish earlier.

Personally as long as they tell us at some point when the forum will be closing, I don't care when exactly it closes. If someone chooses to run one, I feel like it should be up to them to keep their things under control. Keep track of what they need to keep track of, plan on ending the contest a day early or so to get their final tallies/screenshots/whatever they may need to figure out where their prizes are going.

Knowing that forums tend to close on the last day of the event, you should be able to plan accordingly. But I do think it'd be nice to have a warning whether they close on the last day or stay open for a week, just so everyone is aware.

Didn't they already start doing this? I remember people throwing a fit after Masquerade or something, so they started keeping the holiday boards up for a few days after the holiday ends. I know they did it with Vesnali too.

That being said, I am still an advocate for just planning your events/contest accordingly so you don't lose things 😑

If they tell us that they are going to close the ToT forums spot on midnight the 31'st, just have a forum Moderator move your thread to contests or user run games or some such. You can then tally up your winners/players at your leisure.

Or just keep track of everything yourself.

It's not the staff's fault you don't keep track of your own contest.
