Hello! I am somewhere between 96-100 pounds on different days, I have an almost flat stomach, and I believe my Body fat percentage is 22%? I was wondering if any girls here have flat abs, or tight abs. And if you do what is your advice? I am cutting carbs out of my diet until I achieve my goals, I eat fruits, veggies and meat, I also rarely eat sweets now.Does anyone have any advice? Men can comment too, I need all the help I can get :)

I do, and my advice is to do full-body and core exercise. Pilates and Yoga are wondrously effective in tightening abs. A simple exercise to do at home is the plank, but make sure you're in the right position, there are bound to be plentiful illustrations/videos online. I also think there's a 30-Day Abs challenge knocking around online somewhere, if you'd like to search for it :)

you definitely won't be able to get abs with just changing your diet. it'll require a lot of core exercises and strength training along with some cardio. It will also depend on how your body distributes fat to begin with. For some women, abs will start showing at 19%, but I was 17% at my fittest and while my stomach was very flat, I didn't even have a faint outline of abs. also, how is your body fat being measured? the scales with sensors are extremely inaccurate, as are random personal trainers at the gym.

I do work out I run almost every night, When I run I do interval training by walking two lamp posts and running the length of one (I just got back to working out again) I am doing all of the P90x strength training workouts too, I do chest and back, ab ripper, shoulders and arms, back and biceps ect, I have to take it easy though since I hurt my arm.

I wish I was fit enough to get abs! At one huge "I wanna be fit" part of my life I worked out every day and ate pretty damn good actually, but I was terrible at crunches. No more how hard I tried I got nothing xD

Good luck to you!! ^-^

Hi, it really is a combination of developing more muscle and having less fat covering it. While you can change your body fat % there is a genetic predisposition makes it easier or more challenging. Also two women who both have the same body fat can distribute it differently and show it differently. I am not a doctor or trainer but I believe 22% is average range for women and 18% body fat is still healthy for women. I think the lower end of the spectrum is 10-15% for female competitive athletes and it's not a good idea to stay below 12%. Just from my own research with weight, fat %, muscle %.

Lots of good suggestions for exercises to get stronger/bigger abs, but you probably won't have the defined appearance you're after until you reach a certain fat percentage unique to your body. 'Bulk and cut' is what guys call it. :P Good luck! And eat protein!

By the way, I'm currently trying to lose weight/gain muscles, too. I was going to post a picture of my abs but I'm shy about my 'before' photo. I would post an 'after'. xD There are fitness galleries of normal people who post their photos with height, weight, age, and body fat % that you could look at to for inspiration or whereabouts you want to be.
