So, the last few events/plots have been a little confusing for some, in that they forget what step they are on or the clue/current step text disappears when they attempt to revisit the page for a refresher on what they are supposed to be doing.

A page that auto-populates your completed steps (with the readable clue/text related in a spoiler) and the step you are currently on (with the oldest at the bottom and the newest at the top) could be incredibly useful. It would allow users to go back and look at older steps for any missed clues, would prevent confusion as to whether or not anything else needs to be done before they can move on, and would keep people on track as to what they're supposed to be doing.

I'm not really sure how this would work from the back end, but since the site already tracks which step you are on it doesn't seem like it would be too difficult?

There could be a small header with a link to the news post for a new event, with the date it's ending on right on the page so users know how much time they have left. Once the event is over the prize shop could also be linked there, and a week or some other period of time after the end of the event/plot it would auto-clear to be ready for the next event.

My memory is very terrible, and I struggle with step-by-step processes in my day to day life. Site events, while fun and rewarding, often create a tizzy of confusion for me. Plus, if I happen to step away from the computer before finishing a plot or puzzle, then out-of-sight-out-of-mind no matter how many notes or open tabs I might leave myself.

So something like this would be fantastic, I could go back at any time and check which step I left off on!

Yes this should happen for sure. Especially when the steps aren't popping up clearly. I missed 2-3 text pieces for this plot and had to hunt them down on the forums to figure out what I missed. If there had been a journal I wouldn't have had to risk spoilers :C

I could see this being useful so I'll go ahead and say yes to this idea as well.

Anything that gives out reminders is an automatic "yes" from me and my useless brain.

I like this idea.

I have sometimes copied text from plot steps to a notepad because I can forget what I'm doing if I have to leave midway through the step so having somekind of tracker that reminds me which step I was doing would be huge help for me.

But I would like the log to stay after the event is over instead of clearing for the next event.

Hmm, sounds useful. I definitely like the idea of having a way to keep track of the completed steps.

the idea behind it clearing is so that it's extra apparent that the event is over and nothing is currently going on. users on hiatus who leave in the middle of an event and come back to an incomplete journal page for it might get a little confused.

maybe a link to past events/their journal pages might be better than clearing? i'm just not sure how long the information regarding events and which steps were completed is stored, which is another part of why i suggested clearing rather than a subetapedia style log of journal pages for each event detailing how much was completed. c:

The islander/pirate war had something like this, it was super pretty and was like the first chunk of lived-history on site, but it made the event go really slow. I'd rather staff spent their time on something else. I'm not super opposed to this, but this is something basic computer skills can help you with. Subeta is not the site for little kiddies, and one of the experiences you do as an adult is learn how to spot and then compensate for your grey matter faults. I'm brain-damaged myself, and there are tips and tricks.

Make a screenshot/copy the latest step into your notepad or a document. Stuff that is immediate to your attention leave on your desktop instead of filing it. If you find yourself confused or forgetful, remember that one thing and go back to your desktop and look through those items one-by-one. Once the event is over, take all the screenshots and/or saved docs off your desktop and Trash/RecycleBin them.

you mean this? i'm not talking about a journal/subetapedia entry with a bunch of extra artwork and flowery text, it'd just auto-populate using the data the website already collects to track which step you are on. there wouldn't need to be any artwork on the page, and it wouldn't take away from time on the back-end of things aside from setting it up since it wouldn't be an extra story-telling device like the omen island journal was.

Oh yes, I support this. It would just be so useful to have something showing you where you are up to. There's been many times in past events where I've left a step for a few days, and come back and couldn't remember where I was up to/what my next clue was.

This would be really nice. Like yeah, you could do it yourself one way or another but it'd be nice to not have to, since it's already tracked by the site.
