Hi. So Today is 's Birthday. So obviously I clicked her name and discovered she has passed away and thus her account will not be cleared. This is awesome, kudos staff.

But since her passing, her profile images no longer work which makes her page look pretty... terrible.

So I suggest that when a user is marked as (This is such a morbid fucking topic) "deceased" by staff they also clear any custom coding from the profile so it does not look the way 's does at the moment.

agree. This applies to all abandoned accounts. I dunno if this happens, but do they check if the user is active before awarding pet spotlights?

I can understand how it could be an issue. For Hope, that's only one of her rotating profiles that is missing the image. The other one works fine.

And until the image broke, it was really nice to visit her profile and not have it be drastically different. I'm not sure I support clearing it just because. =/

TBH I really liked that you could see the profile the way they left it, and not just blank with nothing on it. I feel like the personality of the person somehow lives on that way

I really dislike this idea for the exact reason said. It is sad if someone's profile gets messed up like Hope's but it would be sad to loose all those profiles that aren't.

While it sucks that her profile is broken, I don't agree with clearing any deceased person's profile coding. The profile was a reflection of who they were, why would we want to strip it away and replace it with a blank slate?

no, don't clear this it gives some personality to it, but once it's broken it could be removed. ... or fixed if the images still work? perhaps some volunteers are willing to fix it? I would help fixing it if the images still exist

Same as some other people said here. I would be heartbroken to see the rest of Hope her profiles disappear, she chose them for a reason and they were a part of her online being. So it's too bad if some people their profiles are broken (and sad for that 1 profile of hope), but it doesn't weight up against the many more profiles of people who are conserved this way.

Yep, agreeing with . Clearing their profile would be like erasing part of their life from existence. The profiles shouldn't be cleared.

like someone mentioned above. I say have someone try and fix it..if they knew what the image was in the past(to try and find it) or replace it perhaps with something that would fit with the overall theme of the profile, or perhaps even replace it with a memorial wreath or something, I dunno..but clearing it removes the 'feel' of the user and I don't feel that's a good way to remember the user.

I agree, I think the coding should stay but perhaps the images should be replaced or removed?

I agree with somewhat... I mean, what after the coding used to build her profile becomes irrelevant? It's sad that her custom profile goes away, but it's better than broken images. There ought to be some way to keep the style ageless, but I'm not sure how.

Forgive me if this is wrong since I didn't know her, but I think I've heard that in particular was ex-staff or at least an ex-minimod and also had a shitload of friends, including staff members.

Otherwise friends/family members are able to submit a ticket (from the deceased user's account, or their own if they have one) to let staff know.

Regarding the suggestion: one of 's profiles in rotation still works; if possible it might be nice to just have that one show up instead of having the rotation but I don't know if staff wants to start looking into that kind of thing/adjusting it/etc. I agree that it'd be kind of sad to just clear it.

It's clearly sad to see this happen because it's like part of them still kinda lives in here. I like the way staff cares with users that have passed away by not clearing out their names. If this kind of thing exists, I think they care enough to not delete their profile but plan about keeping (if not possible to fix) them.

Also what if there's a way to avoid the birthday icon to appear on deceased users names? Like, it's not her birthday anymore. We can remember and honor her but I don't think it's supposed to look so mournful or dreary to see a deceased user to "celebrate" it's birthday. I know this stuff exists because I had friends who passed away and their parents still sort of celebrate their birthdays.
