In the near future, we will be having a Ball! The staff and I hope to have one every term, starting with this one. This will mostly be a roleplaying event, however there will be games and contests as well. The catch: it will be held outside of the cult in the [size=12pt]Roleplaying forums! This means you will be able to bring a date, a friend, or a whole group of friends not part of the cult to dance, have some punch, and partake in the general merriment.

Please take some time before the Ball starts to read the rules for the Roleplaying forums.

The Ball is meant to be a week long and be themed (the theme is chosen by our Prefects)! We are unable to announce this term's theme at this time, but rest assured that we will closer to the start!

The Ball is set to start on Sunday, September 20th. More details will be available as we get closer to that date. Please note that this date is tentative and is subject to change.

However, one thing you can count on is that there will be live entertainment!

We are currently taking auditions for musicians to create the perfect magical band. Think you've got what it takes to be part of our 5-member band? Create an HA to show it!

Contest Rules: 1.) No school uniforms! 2.) You must give your character a name. It should be a different character from your student character. 3.) You must tell us what instrument your character plays (even if it is displayed in your avatar). 4.) Please do NOT give your HA a background! The Vanishing Cream and Whiteout items are fine, since these create a white background only. 5.) No animals please.

(Your character should be able to work well with others!)

Each member may only submit one avatar, and each avatar to successfully adhere to the contest rules and theme shall be awarded 10 House Points! 5 Human Avatars will then be chosen to be part of our wizarding band. The creators of the chosen HAs will receive an extra 20 House Points each!

A note for this contest: Since the share feature of the Wardrobe isn't currently working, please either wear your avatar or save it as an image and upload it to post here! I recommend either using tinypic.com or imgur.com if you don't want to make an account. If you want a place you can make an account at, I would recommend photobucket.com or imageshack.com!

Name: Isodora ("Dora") Knox Instrument: Gothic Harp

Dora is a world renown "gothic harpist", as well as animagus. She is known for turning into a Northern Harrier, a hawk that is indigenous to Canada, mid-show whilst dexterously plucking her harp with her claws.

When asked how she was able to culminate both her prowess at the harp as well as pass the rigorous animagus test, she answered, "Growing up in rural Canada, I had a lot of introspective time where I sat outside and attempted to wizard-talk with animals in between practice. It was quite a silly endeavor, but I developed a strong bond with some of the bird-life and decided to become a Northern Harrier. It took me awhile to adjust my musical skills. I'm certainly a better player when I'm in my human/witch form, but the fans seem to enjoy the spectacle."

Dora began playing the harp when she was seven and established her hawk-skill-set at the age of twenty-three, after becoming a registered animagus.

I noticed that you mentioned no animals are allowed. But can I include the animagus story-line? I don't mind changing it if necessary.

Cas is a bit of a shy girl, but on stage it is like no one is watching. She has been practicing the Lyre ever since she was 6! She hopes to one day have her music played by others, she has said that music should always be shared, never held.

From a young age, Eurybia chose to rock out rather than follow the classical lines that usually come to thought with string instruments. Her parents eventually made their peace with her unorthodox music after the rising success of the Weird Sisters, whose band also sported a wild cellist. One of her favorite acts is to enchant her bow to play for her while she dances wildly with the cello on stage as though it were her lover. It takes two to tango, after all.

Erin is a former student of Hogwarts and a violinist for the Vernius Orchestra of Witches and Wizards. Although she is widely known as an accomplished musician in the Wizarding world, in the Muggle world she is still relatively unknown. Erin frequently sneaks into Muggle Karaoke bars and sings her heart out. She would love to be a part of the entertainment for Hogwarts' First Term Ball not only because of her love of music, but because she would relish the chance to visit Hogwarts during a Ball.
