So I've been overlooking potions and pylonics for a while now, but I'd like to learn more about them. I get the gist of how they work, but don't know which ones are worth using/buying. Any advice?

If it matters, I'm just into t6, and I've got a t3 and a t4 for backup.

is a full block. this can get you a win in tight battles, very useful gives you another freeze chance, this can also be quite handy. raises str and def by 100 for the battle, it can be kinda nice at lower tiers. can be nice for some extra damage. is a 100 hp heal, also kinda handy at low tiers

I still use negating and glaciating on occasion.

any of the dark potions are good to use for extra damage as long as the opponent doesn't block that icon.

The pylonics I love are , which boosts 100 to strength and defense for the fight, which has a chance to freeze and which is a full blocker for one round. Dark potions really depend on who you're fighting and what icon is most effective against them.
