I wanted this done when I was in high school because I always thought it looked cool. I'm in love with it. I hope I don't have any problems with it, since I am prone to infections. I would say on a scale of 1-10, the pain was an 8 and when she pulled the needle through it was a 10.
Also, since I'm talking about piercings, I had my nose redone for a second time about two months ago. I just need some advice on how to get rid of the scar tissue build up (since it was re-pierced on the same side).
What are your piercing stories and pain ratings?
Congrats on the new piercing!!! It looks sweet ^-^ I've had that piercing in my right ear since I was 15 and I still love it XDD No ideas on the nose scar tissue though, I'm sorry! D: My most recent piercing was a philtrum piercing (medusa) the one just above the cupid's bow of my upper lip u It is my favorite.
I'd love some help deciding to do with the rest of my right ear though from folks on a thread like this: Ear Picture

Hmm piercing story?
Piercing Story
I have had some absolutely wonderful piercers who made everything a breeze... but my first post-Claire's experience?..... I got three lobe piercings done by a guy that I swear was high. The boy was bouncier than a kindergartner who's eaten too much sugar, and more easily distracted than a dog seeing a squirrel. =n= He was VERY pushy and talked me into a different location for one of the studs for stylistic reasons. (My fault I know, still irked me though after. Why did I agree!? D: ) Anywhoo he ended up giving me 14g piercings without telling me as much, and didn't even mention salt water soaks as aftercare. .-. Moral of the story? If you think you should walk away.... RUN. XDD
They/ThemI was actually considering the forward helix, but I opted for the helix instead. It hurt like a bitch, more so when she finally pushed the needle out. It's freaking tender like you wouldn't believe. My glasses bumped it and I was like fuck!
I might be biased, but you should go for the forward helix :)
If my piercer looked high, I would've ran lol. After care instructions are so important.
I do like the forward helix. I like how your helix turned out though :D It really does look great ^-^ It is a mite tender in the beginning though I'll give you that XD Everyone should run when the piercer is high =n= Ah to be young and foolish enough to stay XDDD Well it was an experience?
I'll seriously consider the forward helix ;p Do you have any plans for future piercings?
They/ThemI don't know. I currently have the two piercings I always wanted, which is my nose and helix. I might consider getting double holes again in the future. I had them done at Claire's (yes, I know) when I was in high school and they were so badly infected I had to take them out and let them close. I am prone to infections. My nose got terribly infected.
Ah, I'm so jealous! I've always wanted to get a helix piercing.
As it stands, I currently have three in each lobe (14g for the first, 16g for the other two), as well as a conch piercing in both. (To see exactly what I mean: Click!)
I have a thing about both ears needing to be exactly the same (I don't know why), but for a while that proved quite difficult. I got my first conch piercing when I was 19 - and it hurt so much that it took about four years for me to finally muster up the courage to get the other one done. D=
I hope to one day get more cartilage piercings... Buuut I don't think that's gonna happen any time soon. XD
I can tell you, it really hurt and I can take pain. I can just imagine how tender the inside of your ears are (conch, rook, ect). I'm right handed, so I prefer my right side to be pierced up. It's just easier.
Yeah, I tend to sleep on my right side more than anything, so I got my left conch done first. As a result, getting my right conch SUCKED; sleeping was generally just super uncomfortable for months. D= It didn't help that they were originally pierced with a ring, either; lying on the ring would put pressure on the piercing and make my entire ear ache (even after they had healed). I replaced them with the shortest labret piercings I could find pretty quickly (once healed, of course).
Gah infections suck so much. I've had a few infected piercings and that was more than enough of that experience. I guess it's a statement of how much you wanted that helix that you'd risk dealing with that pesky possibility again. ^-^ As to plans for the future? I like well balanced piercing sets like yours honestly, you know the kind that are not too much and not too little ^-^ It ended up looking nice for what it's worth ^-^
They/ThemI really love the look of the helix piercings (both yours and the forward one) I hope yours works out for you! I had that piercing when I was eleven (because # yolo), and I really liked it, until it got infected and gross and I was just in too much pain to bother with it any longer so I took it out.
Twelve years later, I have seven piercings (used to be eight, but I took my belly button out). My tragus was easily one of the most painful ones, and my rook was a close second because she struggled to pull the jewelry through thanks to the rather tight space. My earlobes (I have one hole on one side and two on the other), conch, nose and belly button were all relatively low on the pain scale, but I've got quite a high pain tolerance.
I don't think I'll get any more cartilage piercings (as I'm quite prone to keloid scarring... which is awesome), but I might get a second lobe on the side that only has one, just to even them out.
Your helix piercing looks cute, this is just a perfect place for piercings ^-^
I got my first lip piercing when I was 18 years old (and parents couldn't do anything against it xD). It has been numbed (correctly) so that doesn't count for pain rating. A few years later I got eyebrow and the other side of the lip pierced. Both have been numbed, but both hurt (didn't hurt that bad, so I would go for 5/10 for eyebrow and 4/10 for the lip). Now I have snakebites, two helix piercings each ear, a tongue piercing and my right tragus (yes I really just touched my right ear to confirm it's on my right ear xD) - and lobe of course, but only once each ear. I would say out of all of them tragus hurt most (but I still don't know what exactly hurt, I felt a slight touch and a few seconds later it hurt, so what hurt? The needle or when he put the jewelry in? I honestly don't know, but one of these things really hurt), tongue also was pretty painfull, but the healing time was no problem at all, I've heard and read some horror stories about not being able to eat for days, but everything was fine for me, it just cost more time xD For pain rating I would say helix 7/10, tragus 8/10 and tongue about 7.5/10 I don't really care about little scars, but I think it also tends which piercing it was. Tongue will of course heal better than an eyebrow piercing (I took mine out because it grew out and now there's a little scar).
I would actually like to get more, but I don't know if I should do that xD
Cute!
I remember when I got my helix piercing done. I had been told for ages that it was one of the worst places to get a piercing so I had debated about getting mine for two years then finally went and did it; I didn't feel a thing until about three hours after I got it done. Then I got one of those watery bubbles (I forget the technical term for it - keltoid?) and I wound up on a sulfa-based antibiotic (that I didn't need at all) and had a hellish reaction to it (re: severe allergy to manifested and could have killed me if I continued the antibiotic.) Basically, my helix piercing tried to kill me. XD
I have seven piercings in total, three in my right ear and four in my left. I'd get each of them again but I'd fight the "helix piercing needs antibiotics" thing because now I know that little bubbles of fluid around it are normal in cases.
The best thing I learned with mine was that everything they tell you about piercings? Forget it. Just keep it clean as you can, keep your hair back from it, and leave it alone. It'll take anywhere from six months to a year to fully heal then it's just as normal as any other piercing that's healed up. If you get one of those bubbles, don't panic and don't be alarmed if it like... scars in the back.

I have scar tissue build up on my nose since I had it re-pierced it on the same side, in the same spot. I know there's nothing I can do about it and it will probably fade over the years/go down if I were to take it out. Are your piercings just lobe piercings, or do you have the fancy ones, like the rook, industrial, ect?
That's a really long time for it to heal o-o
It's really tender. I had no problem sleeping on my ear (oddly), but when I touch the bioplast backing, it freaking hurts like hell. It's so bad cleaning it in the front.
Yeah, it takes quite a long time to heal and it gets swollen fast when you try to change the jewelry to early or touch it a lot. One helix on my right ear is two months old and it does take some time to heal, but it feels great to change it to the jewelry you want, it's worth the wait ^-^
I wanted my tragus done, but I have psoriasis in both ears. I've been wanting my tongue pierced for so long, but I can't do that because it will crack my crown on my implant. I also want my belly button done, but I'm extremely over weight and I don't have a belly button at the moment. I've been working on loosing weight, but it just won't come off ;-;
You never know... I might just get something in my left ear along the way, but right now I don't feel the need to get anymore piercings. I want my belly button done, but like I said in my above post, I'm so overweight you can't see my belly button. People also say I don't look what I weigh, but cameras don't lie :(
Cartilage takes forever to heal. It's not that unusual.
I was considering making my helix an industrial then it went all weird and the reaction to the antibiotics happened and naaah. No other piercings besides ears.

That sucks. I'm surprised they didn't give you another type of antibiotic.
I'm also so thankful my love bird (Buddy) hasn't discovered the new piercing yet. knock on wood
There was no reason, tbph. It was a fluid bubble thing, not any sort of infection.
Oh, dear.
