...outside my work last night that doesn't have any front legs. They weren't taken off somehow...the skin is perfect where they should be, he just doesn't have them. He does, however, have a couple of fingers sticking out of his chin. I closed up after my shift last night, went outside and was walking to my car, and saw movement out of the corner of my eye near the garden by the building. A teeny little toad. Picked him up and moved him further into the garden. Then a few feet further and I saw another one. And another, and another...there were toads everywhere. Most of them were about an inch to an inch and a half long. But this guy caught my eye because he was bigger than the rest and not moving when I walked towards him. I picked him up and he chirped at me, probably thinking I was going to eat him, and put him in the garden like the others I saw. He didn't hop away though, even when I gently poked him, so I picked him back up and noticed then that his front legs were just not there. Cue me doing an inner facepalm because I know that I am incapable of leaving an animal in need, even if I couldn't take him in myself because my mom hates toads. But my best friend, however, loves animals of all kinds, and has a thing for taking in critters that are 'freaks' of some kind. So I put the toad in the cupholder in my car and covered it up so he couldn't go anywhere and drove to my friend's apartment (with him chirping every few minutes lol). Took him in to her and she immediately freaks and starts going all 'Ohhhhh! Poor baby!!' and gets a spare tank ready for him. He immediately faceplants into the dirt when we put him in. The next thing to do of course, is to name him. She's a fan of American Horror Story (I think that's what it's called) and apparently there's an armless guy called Paul, so we named him Paulie. And I gave him the second name of Chinfingers...because he has his fingers growing from his chin. So now Paulie Chinfingers is all happy in his new terrarium, getting fed crickets every day, and not having to try to hop around outside and probably get eaten. He was especially happy when I brought plants over this morning from my garden for him to hide in.

So yeah, that's my toad story, lol. Anyone else have pets they've literally rescued like that? Or do you have a 'freak' pet?

Poor little guy. At least he has a second chance at life.

I've never seen anything weird like that.

I couldn't just leave him there. I have a really big soft spot for any animals, especially ones in need like that. Some people would just say 'let nature take its course' but what if nature's course is having me step in? So yeah, he'll be spoiled rotten with my best friend now. Nothing but the best crickets for him! XD

Have you kissed it yet? Might turn into a prince or something.

My dad found a baby bird on the sidewalk when I was little and our family took care of it. It died a couple days later though. Such is life I guess.

That's so cute!

I struggle with depression so I can't take care of any pets. But we did once rescue a bunny from our cat. He had some cuts but was otherwise okay and we released him after because we couldn't find anyone to take him in. I still wonder if he lived.

Don't you forget about me~
