I've seen that a greyscale filter has been requested by a lot of people, so I came up with an idea. A new feature for Shengui Guo, where you can visit Kiyo and ask her to curse you with her Sorrow. It would make your HA turn grey for some time. In exchange, she would ask you to leave some offerings for the spirits there, like sP or items. (sink sink) Maybe if the user gets tired of the curse before the time runs out, make them pay to lift it instantaneously?
That actually sounds like a great way of implementing this! I've seen it thrown around as an item (although someone, I think ? said that wouldn't work) or simply a filter available in the wardrobe. This seems like a great way to add it and make it available (even to people who weren't able to participate in the plot) while being a sink at the same time.
they/them/theirs, please.
I support this really hard

Yeah, Keith said that it might be a filter for the Wardrobe v3, but I would kinda prefer this, to be honest.
this sounds like a better idea than a filter. good way to use lore and whatnot.
I definitely love the idea of integrating it into lore! I'm not sure asking the spirit to curse you flows quite right though... What if it were a punishment for wandering into a forbidden area? Like a gravesite or sacred forest. You go in to explore, and a spirit steals a certain amount of sp from you and curses you, kicking you back out of the forest. Shoot that would be a good place to hide an RE challenger too. ANGRY SPIRIT challenges you to a battle! Ooh, maybe the three spirits we got for plot prizes, sad, angry, malevolent?
Well it's not really a curse, but more of a bless, right? And in the prizes post said "You may see her, watching over Shengui Guo again. Over time she'll r-r-return to the happy self she used to be, the wise people of Shengui Guo assure me."
It has to be something intentional though, even more if it's a sink.
I wish it to be an item or an event like the OP suggested. An unlockable whatever sounds great and all but who knows when and if Wardrobe v3 comes alive? Subeta soon, anyone?
LOL yep, subeta soon. :/
Oh I totally agree that it's a bless in our eyes, but through the lore, it's a sickness/curse that we got because she was angry. If she's returning to being kind and calm, and we fought so hard to lift the sickness, why would we ask, and why would she do that to us again? (Yes I know, because subeta and we're crazy people LOL) But I definitely see going into the cursed place as an intentional sp sink feature. You wouldn't walk in and click around hoping to get cursed.
It would be more like:
Tada! Filter applied, sP sink used. ^_^
That's just the first idea that popped into in my head about making it fit into the lore.
Maybe there could be an area of the city where you go in, knowing what you're getting into, to make offerings to the many spirits/tidy up the gravestones that have been neglected. Pop up as you enter "Are you sure you want to donate to the work site? (Continuing will cost xx sP and turn your human avatar greyscale.)" While you're in there you intentionally leave a certain amount of sP at the alter/each grave/donation box, and working in there around all those spirits suddenly makes you feel so exhausted. They could make it interactive or just a landing page that says as much, either way, filter
Something closer to your idea could be like, they set it up so we can bring Kiyo offerings to help her return to herself (hello new achs/titles/etc!!!) and you go to visit Kiyo to pay your respects but she's having a bad day, do you go in anyway? click Her big red form shows up, you run, drop sP, filter. Though that's more random.... Maybe she could be in a 'bad mood' every day during certain hours? Or maybe they could set it up so that there are certain items that when you bring them as offerings she freaks out/takes your sP instead/gives you the filter. (Lunch money bully anyone?? haha)
What I meant about the RE thing, was just for battle challengers, totally separate idea, nothing to do with the filter, sorry probably shouldn't have mentioned it. :/ It just dawned on me that it would be a cool addition to have those spirits as unlockable challengers, and that an RE on that page when getting the filter would be a cool place to find them randomly.
Hey guys, we're discussing ways to possibly implement that greyscale filter so many were hoping for as a feature rather than an item. :D
I'd love to have either an item or a feature that would do this. Doesn't matter much to me, but I did enjoy the look.
Sounds pretty neat to me. Seems like a full list of wins: filter everyone wants, repeated small sp sink, not having to cram a filters section into the interface of the new wardrobe. It's not like we don't have precedent for paying to alter avatar features (such as Rachelle in the zombie underground).
I'd also like an option for using the half-fade we had before going full greyscale. I'd probably use it more than the full grey effect.
So, you want some spirit guide to curse you with tiredness and sadness for the sake of FASHION?
Y'all are the most masochistic fellows I had the chance to meet.
I second this.
I dunno, a curse seems healthier than tapeworms. 8D
Full support, whether it's an item or a filter option in the wardrobe. The half-fade option would be fantastic as well.
I really like this because it makes a lot of in-world sense. People would go to help out and the greyscale would end up being an "unintended side-effect" (even though people would totally do it on purpose, of course). Since the greyscale was to do with spirits being unhappy, maybe it could be linked to offerings / lack thereof... "Yesterday, the spirits wanted 21684318651 Balls of Fluff, but they only got five, thank you so much for asking, go be grey".
I think this is a good idea. It would be very interesting.

Well, keeping in spirit with the offerings, I think it would be interesting if like suggested, you click to go to a part of the island and it takes you to an sacred area. It should be a shrine.
If the greyscale is temporary it works better as an sp sink.

@ Water the grayscale must be temporary or removable if works as a feature like this; Otherwise we would end up being gray forever and, like, goodbye colors?
This has a lot of possibilities to be inserted if it ever does
I didn't think about Kiyo though. But this would be nice if it ever get implemented.
