i got a really good reason as to why the costs of the quests are so high and im cool with that answer!
First I want to start off by saying, I feel sooooooo bad for the NEW users who are not battle or Sp ready for this portion of the event.
Now I am not a huge battler, and for every other event, I have come to terms the scenario of
"hey I won't be able to take part in this fight" and I'm okay with that.
But this time around things were different, Subeta said "hey lets give non battlers a chance to participate in the battle portion as well." Needless to say, I got excited and was waiting eagerly to see how I would get to help out with defeating the boss. Then it was released and I was so disappointed and frustrated.
I do not for the life of me understand why I, as a non battler, have to spend so much of my SP to make a weapon, that oh by the way no one clarified at the start wasn't a REAL item. I spent over 700k on a quest that had me believing I was going to get some weapon to help use against the boss, but instead it was just some non-existent item that was sent into battle. Nothing was said about it causing damage [which has been stated that each one creates about 250-500 damage points, but you have to hunt down that information, like usual]
I just want to understand the logic of having to make non-battlers pay so much out of their sp to take part, why was this the only idea? I don't mind making a non-existent item [as long as you make it clear that it doesn't exist], I don't mind have to do a quest, but at this point I would rather my pet get his face slammed into the ground and screw up his stats then take part in losing all my SP, that just sounds better.
At this point im more upset over the lack of information going into the non-battlers portion of this event part. It should have been made clear as day that we would be spending tons of sp for no real item, also if its gonna be sent off to battle can you at least tell me how much damage it caused. You simply could put "the weapon was sent to the front lines and caused 250 damage to Kiyo"
Up until now I have had no issues with this event, the story is lack luster and missing so much information, but it was something to do at least, and I love the games. Although this battle portion has just been frustrating, so I more then likely will go back to not taking part in this portion and im fine with that, im not gonna go broke trying to beat a boss, while strong battlers don't have to worry about losing all their SP just to beat some boss.
I just really needed to vent and complain XD and that's why i'm glad this board exists. I just really think the non-battlers portion could have been executed in a different manner, I have seen so many complaining about some of the same issues. Thanks for thinking of us non-battlers though..
You can reset Connor to have cheaper items.
I have and most of the time, he gives me higher priced items, or about the same as the first go around.
I just had a 250K quest from him, two weapons and three elixirs.
I think the idea is good. There are a lot of problems with the plot, but this...is not one, in my eyes. If you think that getting killed over and over is a better use of your time, do this instead.
I personally was stuck in battle for a while, so even if I had a tier 10 pet, I used Connor's quests to go and get more points in
i don't know if you complaining just to vent or you want an answer. if you want an answer, battlers put a lot of time and sp to train pets. it wasn't cheap to train, buying boosters, weapons and books. and pet need to be healed after each battle and it cost a lot of sp by the time the boss fight end. based on last year boss fight, i think this boss top rewards will be battle related and doesn't interest people who don't battle much.
but i agree that we need info in news regarding what this "weapon" do instead of hunting info in forum.
Well Im not one who has tons of SP to just throw around, I just tried again and he gave me another quest that was around 400k.
I think the idea is good as well, I just don't understand what the purpose is of having non-battlers have to pay so much just to take part.
Honestly yes, I would prefer to get killed over and over again thats my prerogative , at least I would still have my SP, but that's me and im fine with that, I don't really care about my pets stats, im not a battler as I stated.
Kudos to you for doing his quests and getting your points though!
It was both, sorry for not making that clear! But I like that answer, I understand top battlers spend a ton of SP, and if thats the reason why we non-battlers have to pay so much, I can live with that. I can understand if a top battler spent millions to get to a certain point, and would be irritated if a non-battler was making just as much damage with out doing much. I just really feel the lack of information regarding how the non-battler portion works is just ridiculous. After I finished my first quest I had no idea i even caused damage, nothing told me I did. i just created an item that didn't exist and it was sent away, It felt like a giant waste. Now I understand how it works, after hunting down the info.
it's ok. i'm happy to help.
yeah, i kinda like if it gives you actual item too. at least you can go into battle and and see your effort in action.
Exactly that would have been nice! But at the very least the page could say how much damage was dealt since its a random amount between 250-500.
it doesn't provide any info? that is quite sucks. again it would be nice to see the damage itself considering the amount paid.
anyway, just battle if you got the time. she doesn't block always. so you will be doing some damage. don't worry about her healing. we need her alive longer so more people can participate :P
I agree so much. My pets aren't trained enough to battle, and I'm too poor to make many weapons with Mathis. This is my first event, and I guess all I can do is try to reset Connor a billion times looking for cheaper items. I really thought I'd be given a weapon with how it was worded, and yes I also had to hunt down the damage info of 250-500. Just not as smooth an experience as I was expecting.
How to word this...
I think it was a step in the right direction to offer a way to earn points as a non-battler but when I look at the items Connor is asking for (Elixirs? Seriously?) I'm not sure if that's going to really work out.
Overall I have to admit that this plot is made exactly of the things that I fail to enjoy in general - games and a community boss battle - which I know is totally my own fault but still. Well, and the fact that my score for the boss battling will be lousy this time (missed the first boss round completely because 5am and the second will start at 11pm for me) despite having a Tier 12 Pet is going to crown it all.
I think it's good that non-battlers can participate, but the problem for me is he asks for 90% elixirs. On one hand, I appreciate it because now all of the elixirs that have been lying around my shop got bought, on the other there is not enough variety. He should ask for different HTS items as well. Also, the amount of damage you can deal with that is extremely low. I mean my measly tier 3 pet with basic equipment and no potions and mods or w/e is able to deal above 3k dmg... so yeah, you should be able to at least deal up to 1k dmg that way (so anything from 250 to 1000). Even then I'd say it's not really worth it (how much dmg can you deal with a t1 pet with basic equip? probably above 250 already)

the healing costs alone are enough to make high-tier battlers go broke. everyone's getting stiffed equally here. :P
I absolutely agree that it should have been clear from the beginning about what you'd get from doing these quest, as well as the damage that was done for the trouble. I did one quest, I think I spent about 250K. I did think I was going to get an actual weapon to use and I was absolutely confused when it said it was sent to the front lines and that was it. I didn't even know until just now that it was doing actual damage that I would get credit for.
I do like the concept though. For those who can't battle can do the quest and inflict damage which at the end of the event will give the non-battlers any prizes they may have missed out on if they didn't do anything at all. (Also I don't actually know if there are prizes for battling but I'm going by what was done during last Morostide, you do x amount of damage and you get y prize.)
I am mostly upset I spent so much sP on a non physical weapon. :c I wanted to hold it. Maybe put it into a gallery. :c Nothing led me to believe it would just instantly be thrown at the boss.
I've spent nearly 3m just from healing my pet, It's not just none battlers who are using sP. I've also done a few of the quests for connor/mathias and spent a further 2-3m on items, Plus you know, like billions training my pet in the first place for things like this. You can make 2m a day EASY just from a few quests.
Why does everyone always feel so bad for the newbies? New Folk, as we once all were, should not be able to simply sign on and get everything the longer term players do with a plot.
When I signed on it was smack in the middle of the cruise thing. I had no idea what was going on of course and didn't do so fantastic, but I was very pleased that the site allowed me to jump on in and participate even after it had started. What site does that? What more can a newbie really ask for?
Mind you, I am not new, my ...battler...is a T4...and I don't have gobs of cash. But I have smelted and I have connored and I have battled anyway. No, I should NOT get high points like the big battlers- I do not deserve them (re: T4)-and I won't be throwing mils at Connor either, but I'll do a few. I'll get what I earn for the amount of effort I put into it.
Which is how it should be, right? Or am I on crack today.
I'm annoyed at the lack of info about how any of this works... What is with staff only giving out information in news comments buried in user comments or pages deep in very specific forum threads?? If they are going to make information available then why not put it in the news post? Or the actual quest? Why can't Connor and Mathias tell us this quest deals 250-500 damage? Is it so hard to edit it? And if prizes are determined by how much damage we do why don't we have any way to see and track that number? And why can't they tell us that's how prizes are gonna be given? Why is it a mystery?
At least we got info about the boss waves instead of it being a surprise.
As for battling being the biggest payoff in every when only a fraction of the users are battlers and the whole system is supposedly getting a revamp... You would think subeta would have like, an indicator at this point that battling is the one thing it's always gonna come back to and encourage everyone to participate, or something.
