How long does your account have to be inactive for you to lose your name/pet names?

I think it's one year, but my companion beside me says that one of the two is available after ten months. In either case, perhaps logging in every 6 months, while "inactive", is the easiest way to ensure you lose neither. ("Or stay active" says the site addict beside me who is pissed I won't give up the wifi password)

Nope, it's one year. Your account is marked inactive after 10 months, but the names become available after one year.
