Seriously though. I work in a clothing store and I literally have no patience for people now a days. .__.
At least it isn't food service. If I had to choose between retail and that I'd choose retail. They both do suck though. I just left my retail job. I never really had to many problems with customers, besides a once in a while jackass. Maybe I was lucky and didn't get to many rude ones. I had many problems with the mangers though and how the store was being run. Last straw was them blaming me for the department being messy after me being on vacation for two weeks.
Just having to deal with people is hideous. Let's be honest.
Worst part is people behaving like children :/ People tend to forget that people who work in retail are humans too and not always in control of events that may compromise the shoppers needs... The only good thing that came from working in retail is remembering to be more considerate of others in the same position. Though you may once in a while stumble upon a worker that needs to have their arm ripped off and then beaten with it.

I worked I think five retail jobs through high school and post secondary and the clothing store gig I had was by far the best. Consider yourself lucky you don't work at Wal-Mart or some other big chain that people go to because they can't afford not to, rather than a clothing store where the people are there because they want to be and are generally in a good mood. I'm not saying people won't be dicks, but I can't think of a single exceptionally poor experience I had at my year and a half stint at a clothing shop.
Seriously don't work for a big chain because you will meet shithead people who will treat you lower than dirt every single hour of every single day.
I work two retail jobs (pet store and a clothing store) and honestly it isn't that bad. I love animals and I sometimes like people.
I could never see myself working in food industry.
I went to Lush today and I saw mothers allowing their children to touch and smell everything, even though samples for doing so were in plain sight. The older kids messing around with the bath bombs in the staff demonstration pots were destroying God knows how much merchandise. Having chaotic kids roam free in stores like that is so disrespectful to the employees and other shoppers. I felt awful for the people on the floor, but I could see that all they could do was seethe and rearrange the messed up displays.

retailhellunderground.com is all Im gonna say
FINALLY GOT THE 15K WARDROBE DONE!!!!! Next up gutting and selling it.
Yeh.....I'm not a fan of retail myself. The more I'm in it the more I hate people.
Sorry about that.. but yeah, anything that works with customers directly sucks. I've never tried retail but I'm a nurse so yeah.
On the good side though, I'm very tolerant of workers (waiters, servers and such) cause I know what they're going through, if not worse.
I work at Starbucks and it is a NIGHTMARE sometimes. People are so entitled when it comes to their freaking coffee.
My parents and I were at a restaurant once and some guy stormed over and started screaming at the hostess, threatening to get her fired, all because he didn't get the table he wanted. People are such entitled jerks sometimes.
REAL TALK. I work in retail. Had a 9am to 10pm shift to day. Around 7pm after a fairly wonderful day I had a woman bitch me out of looking at her... I just asked if she needed help after she stared me down for 5 minutes >_< Do they not want us to do our jobs?
I feel you, I just started working my very first job at retail. Where I work we have to promote an app to every customer we ring up and I've had a few who just flat out cut me off because they didn't want to hear about it. Like, bro I don't like doing it anymore than you like hearing it but I have to because it's my job. Don't cut me off that's rude.
So I mean, I haven't had any particularly nasty people yet, but I'm sure it's coming. Especially with the holidays coming up. My co-workers have already told me some of their customer stories. OTL

I work at two stores: a pet store that is old fashioned and uses no computers for the cash
My second retail job is at a jean store in town and before people can buy their clothes, I have to ask the for their phone number, their first and last name and an e-mail. I've never had anyone that was nasty to me. If they don't want to give out their information, I can simply bypass it.
