Ooooooooo! That could be super fun! If I come up with any ideas, I'll let you know!
I'd definitely be interested like a Secret Santa event for Luminaire! Or maybe a Morostide costume contest, or snowball fight vs other houses?
I like Secret Santas, personally... I'm not sure of the best way to get people to commit to them, though. xD
I think Secret Santa would work better... Question is, , would you be picking who would give to whom?
I like 's idea of a Costume party for Morostide.
Maybe we could do a kind of hunt during Vesnali... like someone hides things in a gallery or one of their shops and asks questions, then the rest of us have to go looking for the answers? Like a scavenger hunt type of thing?
Oh, what about story contests? Like each season have it's own theme? Like a giving story for Luminaire, and a love story for survival, or a spooky story for Morostide? A mystery story for Masquerade! What about that?
Side note : should we make Gryffindor and Mary admins like the other houses?
Up to you. The other houses have made us admins on theirs. I don't think we will do anything with it either way

Yeah, being admins doesn't mean we're gonna run the show for the house groups. I think it's a good idea in case we have any harassment issues/spamming/etc though.
What about 'real life' events? Like a Christmas/Yule/Holiday card exchange? I don't know how well it would go down re: ages of everybody, but I'd be down :)
I'm down for most of these events. I'd be willing to do a gift exchange of any sort (I love Secret Santa/White Elephant) and even like the idea of a real-life card exchange.
As for Morostide costume contests, it should be easy to theme it Halloween for HP-book sake since the books themselves often include celebrations. We could be "attending Nearly Headless Nick's Death Day party" due to an extended invitation from the Fat Friar where we were told to find our most gruesome attire. Or something else entirely, like "pretending to set up our own little neighborhood" where we help each other get the new items of the year by making a list for trick-or-treating of our house a swell. shrug
I'd be down for an e-card exchange, but the old curmudgeonly side of me will remind me that not giving out my real identity and address for the last 15 years or so has worked well for me. I will see if I can scrounge up any info regarding Subeta policies on this sort of thing (is this an 13+ website or no... still, mmm, not sure how many of us are minors?).
I LOVE the trick-or-treat idea, but would love more detail about what you are envisioning with houses. ._. Rosethorn and I are willing to put up some prizes for contests as well, but we are also wondering whether Hufflepuff has any interest in extending those types of events to the other houses?
Also, to keep it semi-separate from approved Wizarding events, do you guys mind holding it here?
I would love the idea of a holiday card exchange... Or an e-card. c: I think we should definitely should do a costume for mortoside. c:
Thanks for your input, guys! =D
We could do two card exchanges: One for those who don't feel comfy giving out real life info, and another who is like, GIVE ME ALL OF THE FUN NON-BILLS.
I'm OK with keeping some of our games in-house. I think it's what's going to really bring the House together.
Another idea I had would be weekly/seasonal movies. At a pre-selected time, we as a House load up Netflix (etc) and watch a movie together. Maybe two nights, depending on how many different time zones we're dealing with. Since it's Halloween/Morostide, I would suggest something creepy/scary :)
ETA: I'd be happy to help organize these things.
Once trick or treating starts, a list is usually compiled of who give out what items (i.e. you can get different items from users with a certain number of pets/certain length of username). One we have that list, we can make our own HuffPuff version so that everyone gets trick or treated, and everyone will be able to get all the items. (: Is that what you were referring to, ? (There may be something like this down cult-wide, but we could also do our own little version on the side.)
Weekly movies would be cool! (Although I'm pretty wimpy when it comes to scary movies. xD) I went ahead and made a little questionnaire here so that anyone interested can submit their timezone and we can decide on a night(s) based on that. If you're interested, , after we gather the responses, you can be in charge of selecting the movie and coordinating when everyone would like to watch it. (:
As far as e-card exchanges: Love it. Even better if it's something handmade that can be photographed/scanned. xD
As far as real-life cards/gifts: We would have to check Subeta's policies ( ?) and make it 18+, most likely. That said, I believe there is a way to send gifts without needing a specific address? For people who aren't sure about giving out their mailing address (myself included) I think you can have things sent by "General Delivery." It looks like this:
Rose Thorn General Delivery My City, ST 12345
and they just ship it to the post office near you that holds general delivery packages. You have to figure out which that is, though, and when your package is coming, because I don't think they contact you when they get it. There's a similar service through UPS (hold for pickup?). If anyone knows more about these, feel free to chime in!
[edit] pinging again so that anyone interested in a movie night can put their time zone in!
I am definitely up for christmas-carding, even if it's just an e-card :)
Also the movie night thing sounds really great, even though I'm not much for scary movies :)
That would be great! As soon as we get some more conversation going, I'll post another question to the House concerning ideas for the movie, and then we can vote on it. Maybe we can get one started by the end of this coming week! :)
Sorry that I have been crazy busy. I have opened a ticket with the Subeta Team to ensure that if we want to share our email or home addresses, we aren't violating any kind of TOS that could get us or Wizarding banned. I'll let you know when I hear back.
Is there still interest in setting up something for trick-or-treating? We have about two and a half weeks to prep, so I'd love to get a count of how many people want to participate!
