If I edit a post to add extra pings to it, will the pings register with the folks who are following?? Or will the fact that it's an edit negate the active ping and what I really need to do if post again underneath?

If you want to ping the same person again I believe you need to edit out the first one and then add the new ping. But otherwise, no people don't get pinged twice. The new pings you're adding will go through though
