Pretty much what it says. I was looking at the Holiday Schedule in the SubetaPedia today and noticed Children's Week isn't on there. That's coming up in just a couple weeks, right? It's been going on for a few years now, so unless we aren't planning to do it again this year I think it would be nice to add it to the calendar. ^-^
Is children's week a real world holiday? Subeta doesn't really celebrate them anymore, they have their own Subeta holidays. Sometimes they match the real world counterpart (Christmas = Luminaire) but not always and they each have a Subeta lore spin on them.

Nope! Children's Week is a Subetan holiday. It was started in honor of Amy's death. A lot of the NPCs get in on it and every day a different NPC gives out a child or toy themed free gift.
I think they skipped a year for Subetas 10th Anniversary, since that is the week after and they had the anniversary celebration longer than just one day.
Oh I remember this. The children NPCs would give out free gifts, right? Last year I think they did the 10 year anniversary instead? I might be wrong.
I did not remember this being a thing! I just did a google search and remember the items being given out now, but forgot about that event. Good memory you've got there :)

I don't really see them adding it since it's not a guaranteed thing and really the holiday schedule is more for things that for sure happen each year,I mean right now we are in the beginning stages of a summer event so its unlikely there will be a childrens week so it doesn't make much sense to stick it on the calendar.
To be honest my memory was jogged by everyone coming up with all these Faded Memories = Amy theories, lol.
But I should probably add a description of the holiday to my first post. I love sharing all the Subetan lore and tradition. There are SO many things that have happened or NPCs with great personalities, and catching up on that is just not very accessible for newbies to the site. Which is what the SubetaPedia is for, so i would just like to see it more complete.
Especially since every time a new unexplained event starts (or even every single Survival) people start talking about "Maybe AMY will show up!" Then everyone else starts going "Who is Amy?" And there is just nothing mentioning her, her drowning, the children's week, or the Islander/Pirate lore that I can find in the SubetaPedia. The best people can do is get frustrated re-explaining and link to super old forum and news posts, lol. You can sorta, kinda, maybe piece things together from item descriptions, areas of the site newbies can't access, forum mentions, and old retired achievements. But that's only if you already know what you are looking for and looking at.
Then I guess my suggestion would more line up with verifying that this is a regular holiday then too. They made an exception for the 10th anniversary, but it's otherwise been a yearly thing and always at the same time of year.
Conspiracy whispers Of course, it would make sense to not have the holiday on the schedule if there will soon be a reason to not continue celebrating it. Like if the current plot provides closure of some sort and Sarah makes peace with Amy's ghost, or Elsie is confirmed at Amy, or any of the other crazy whispers I've heard. OooOoooOoh
I know, I was kidding. ^-^ I seem to remember seeing a confirmation at one point that Amy is definitely not coming back and sometimes death is just permanent. But this seriously does come up during at least 1-2 events a year. It's all over the faded memories board right now.
It,s like in the real world, in death, we happen to forget the shortcomings of people when they were alive
Such as Amy.
I guess if other people want to. To me..I'm sorry but all I can think of is sadly a dead child in water floating, despite all the happiness and cheer of the event. Still feels morbid to me, but that's just me.
That's fair. I guess I never really saw it as a celebration as much as a memorial. The child NPC's give away toys in her memory, with the idea to cherish the children we have because they won't be around forever - whether it's because they grew up or because of tragedy. So for me it feels like it should go on the calendar because I can't see her sister (Sarah) no longer memorializing the date of her death, and I think we should continue the idea of cherishing childhood.
Maybe I got a different impression from the holiday than others did though, which is entirely possible.
i hope the add childrens week as a permanent feature and on the holiday shedule. That being said im hoping Amy('s quests) does come back to life some how cuz didnt Vernon Yun do the a few plots back?
I actually kind of HATE that Vernon Yun came back because his murder was a whole plot and how does that work, isn't that a giant paradox?
Since we'll be having an event here I don't know if we'll have a Children's Week, and that might be why it hasn't been entered on the calendar to begin with. We did have it two years though, I think, so that does lead to assumptions of permanence.
