Okay I'm a fucking nerd and I was playing around with this last night. If your pets manned a starship a la Star Trek, what positions would they be?
Here are the positions
Captain:
EO/2nd Officer:
Science Officer:
Medical Officer:
Engineering Officer:
Helm (steers and manuevers, think Chekhov):
Ops (monitors all systems, think Data or Sulu):
Tactician (ship defenses including shields and weapons):
Communication:
Head of Security:
Bonus if you have enough pets: Counselor: Transporter room: Medical team/assistants: Engineering team/assistants: Science team/assistants: Security officers: Barkeep (like Guinan or Quark): Expendable/Redshirts:
Feel free to add/replace/remove as you see fit for your oen pets :D
Here's mine! It's quite a full ship haha.
Captain: Yeoman (lol) EO/2nd Officer: Kinesis, best trained after Yeoman Science Officer: Syvyys Medical Officer: Brazen Bull Engineering Officer: Pythagorium Helm: Baharonaut Ops: Jirimpimbira Tactician: Ashelia Communication: Giorgi Head of Security: Uz Counselor: Erde Transporter room: Hvala Medical team: Tenpengusa, Aariston, Apple Strudel Engineering team: Mamela, Vissera, Quid Science team: Oblio, Jamarcus, Spinneret Security officers: Dolcissimo, Bergamot, Hydroponics Deck Barkeeps: Moorgeist, Kushy Expendable/Redshirt: Lemon Poppy-Seed, Peach Tea, Ahemait
Their ship is the USS Mackenzi (I'm having a lot of fun with this) and it's a Constellation class starship. This is her first assignment.
Oh no now I'm writing about my fictional starship help. Feel free to ignore this
Yeoman and Kinesis can make a vicious team for a starship whose mission is exploration and discover. Yeoman has spent all her life surrounded by decorated leaders, heroic accomplishments, and 99th percentile achievers. She's worked hard and is on her way to the top, eager to prove herself worthy of her upbringing and thirsting for adventure. Her goal is to be an admiral after spending a decade or so in the captain's chair. She has been raised with strong ideas about justice, morality, and not accepting 99% when you could be getting 100%. But the freedom of exploring the universe has pushed her black and white philosophies about life into very grey areas. Turns out exploring the universe isn't something you can do 100%. It's both a thrilling and scary notion for her, and all she knows it to dive in and start tackling it one step at a time. So far so good, her career has been speckled with minor awards and achievements and she's eager to take this success to the far reaches of the universe. With a background in engineering and linguistics, she'd served as an Earth ambassador for six years, and then a successful, tragedy-free 5 year mission aboard a Galaxy class starship as tactician (4 years) and then second in command (1 year). This is her first mission as Captain.
Kinesis is older and has a background of failure that plagues her. Her last two ships both suffered massive loss of life and destruction. On the first she was engineering officer, before the officers in line for captain all were killed by a biological parasite that was inadvertently brought aboard after a planetary exploration and went undetected for three weeks. She took the captain's chair in time to be attacked by malfunctioning sentient drones leftover from a world that had destroyed itself in war- she saved half the crew but was left stranded for three days with only impulse engines and limited communications. On the second ship she was given captains seat from the beginning, but had a rocky command from the start with two officers going AWOL under the influence of two different mysterious technologies and then falling prey to a decades-old bait and snare trap that triggered a landmine-like antimatter explosion and alerted both nearby Klingons and Romulans, who squabbled over the remains of her gutted ship until she managed to negotiate her way out of the scenario. She's been hardened by loss and is wary of worst case scenarios. Though she was offered the captain's chair again, she declined for a 2nd in command position on the Mackenzi.
Both Yeoman and Kinesis are wary of failure and hesitate making uncalculatable risks, but Yeoman is the optimist to Kinesis' half-empty glass and so they compliment each other well. Despite (or because of?) the fact they disagree on almost everything, they have good chemistry.
Brazen Bull is an explosive temper and loud presence in the medbay, but is in a constant battle to defy his fate as one of torture, harm and destruction. He dedicated his life to medicine and science and excels at it- and has gotten very good at working efficiently through his bouts of anger. He's called The Bull for his stubbornness and is known for thinking up unexpected and sometimes risky solutions that more often than not work wonderfully.
Pythagorium is the oldest of the senior crew and has seen pretty much everything. He's never experienced great loss or great success, but a little of everything in between. He has started thinking about the events of their voyage like we think about tropes in media: oh, a ship overrun with mooks and a heel turn from the head science officer, interesting. He once was trapped on the other side of a wormhole for what he experienced as 25 years, but was slingshot-ed back to our time and space unexpectedly and unexplainedly. There was no explanation ever discovered for his scenario and has learned to live with unexplained mysteries. Always a level head, live and let live kind of guy, whose strength is that no scenario is too new to him that he doesn't have an idea of what to do next.
Mamela has the skills and experience to be engineering officer but Pythagorium has seniority. Mamela is a practical, do the job in front of you kind of person, who doesn't have a problem with their current positions, but Pythagorium is getting older and thinking it might be time to retire before their current assignment is up, and is low-key preparing Mamela to be his successor. Uz's love of visual and audio surveillance is a constant controversy across the ship; how much privacy is each individual entitled to on a ship that can sense and report the whereabouts and state of your life form at any given moment? He is excellent at his job, though. Hvala definitely has the ambition and qualifications to move to the bridge, but doesn't want to wish for it because that would mean someone currently working there was out of commission, so she's waiting to fulfill this 5 year assignment before putting in her name for promotion. Little does she know Baharonaut dreams of manning his own trading ship and only 2 years in to their assignment he will be presented with an opportunity to do so while still reporting to starfleet, he takes it, and she gets the opportunity to take over as helmsman.
Damn, this is bringing me back to my role-playing days. Maybe I should get back into that. Anyway, I'd love to see other people's little ship configurations (fingers crossed I am not the only one who is into this lol) and I encourage you to write as much as you want about each pet in their position, I'm dying to read about your starships now. This is all really cool and interesting!
I'm an ultra-nerd and I've accepted my fate
Hahah I'm bored, so why not?
Captain: Desdinova EO/2nd Officer: Fhtagn Science Officer: Interrobang Medical Officer: Tephros Engineering Officer: Tenukii Helm (steers and manuevers, think Chekhov): Blimp Ops (monitors all systems, think Data or Sulu): Balloon Boy Tactician (ship defenses including shields and weapons): Tak "Kill 'Em All" the Outsider XD Communication: Drifblim Head of Security: Togemon Counselor: Sonde & Topper (because he's a dog and I can't think of anything else he could do :P) Transporter room: the Unseen (would scare anyone beamed aboard to death!) Barkeep (like Guinan or Quark): Lofty Balloon
Zeppelin doesn't have a character yet, so I dunno about him ^X^;
Sounds fun, I'm joining! X'D Not using all my Pets, just because I'm not sure where they'd fit best. xD
Captain: I'd probably have two... Mr. Woody (She would probably never do anything else. :P) and Pucki EO/2nd Officer: Chakotay (He already showed his good potential as second in command) Science Officer: Nakai Medical Officer: Monstrum Engineering Officer: Lon Helm: Starbuck Ops: Data Tactician: Tuvok Communication: Hering Head of Security: Tuvok Counselor: Rusty and Ardell Transporter room: Valtiel Medical team/assistants: Anonymous, Perverted (though they'd both do an awful job... XD) Engineering team/assistants: ??? Science team/assistants: Riddler, Rabal, Ruvik (probably a bad idea... hehe) Security officers: Joseph Oda, Coleridge, Sewell, Jeor, Germanicus Barkeep: Deuce
My ship would be named USS Frenzy and it would be Intrepid or Nova class, I love them both just too much. The designs of them are just too pretty. I also have a soft spot for the Akira class, so this would be my third option. For non-Federation I'd most likely go with Hirogen or something really funky, like a Nakai ship from Stargate Universe... (: I think that's it. :) FUN IDEA! :D
Oh lord I started thinking about this and how much of a disaster it would be.
Captain: Swordfish EO/2nd Officer: Demetrio Science Officer: Deneb Medical Officer: Wolfe Engineering Officer: Stingray Helm: Vinnie Ops: Juan Tactician: Cuttlefish Communication: Harpy Head of Security: Wyrm Counselor: Hyde Transporter room: Ouija Medical team/assistants: Wicca, Kipling, Yusef Engineering team/assistants: Emilian, Upton Science team/assistants: Charnel, Lionfish, Loch, Eel Security officers: Feng, Huang, Sobek, Yuu, Brookes Barkeep: Sinatra Expendable/Redshirts: Ilario, Firelight, Eames, Button, Homba, Barton, Wilkes, Ralph, Momoe, Quimby, Norton, Arsenio, Bao, Jazira, Itzcoatl, Antoine, Sylvaine, Bates, Joji, Filipe, Barnaby
SO MANY RED SHIRTS (sorry losers you bring nothing to the table)
Hey nerds do this
Captain: Schwarz EO/2nd Officer: Legacy Science Officer: Nikola Medical Officer: Smarty Engineering Officer: Alderson, Wellick Helm: Theodor Ops: Jones Tactician: Slick, Johan Communication: Torment, Rome, Mads Head of Security: Nuada, Rumlow Counselor: Hotchner Transporter room: Norman, Doomsday, Victim, Bartleby Medical team: Carcass, Havoc, Nacht, Durden Engineering team: Gloom, Extreme, Jigsaw, Mischief Science team: Sieben, Viggo, Mutate Security officers: Asset, Anarchist, Hoffman, Viking, Iron, Hatred, Nazgul, Raider Barkeeps: Freddy, Willard, Ludwig, Dirt Expendable/Redshirt: Saw, Arch, Karl, Franklyn, Thirst, Narcissist
This is fun, though I don't think the ship will go far with this crew. I know we got a few really good people here, but it's still a mad house. So this ship will be called USS Asylum XD...(Why do I have so many security officers?)

Oh Lord, Who Knows xD. My ship is doomed!
Captain: Tyrannical (Pfft, Like he would accept anything else) EO/2nd Officer: Kayii Science Officer: Heat Wave Medical Officer: Alymere Engineering Officer: Ameliorate Helm (steers and manuevers, think Chekhov): Faoladh (He's Pirate Obsessed, so yeah) Ops (monitors all systems, think Data or Sulu): Obsolescent (Pfft, since he's like Data anyway >___>) Tactician (ship defenses including shields and weapons): Cold Snap Communication: Shuochang Head of Security: Evanesce Counselor: Mingyu Barkeep (like Guinan or Quark): Patissiere Transporter room: Ruadhan (Oh God, Q is in charge of your teleportation :x) Medical team/assistants: Dressmaker
Annd that's it except for Friedhelm. I don't have a complete character for him yet, so he's not assigned xD.
Ooooooh. This sounds like fun.
Captain: Infatuated EO/2nd Officer: Radcliffe Science Officer: Villain Medical Officer: Herbaceous Engineering Officer: Metalwork Helm: Enthusiast Ops: Issac(? I guess?) Tactician: Sanctimonious Communication: Grimorium Head of Security: Broadsword
Bonus Round:
Counselor: Mephistos Transporter room: Penel Security officers: Ignition, Squiddo(?) Barkeep: Valiel (Maybe more like in charge of the mess hall or something, though...)
Throne is probably some obnoxious ambassador the crew has to escort somewhere for an episode, and Pinions is some weird (but nonthreatening) alien they pick up at one point by accident and can't convince to leave.
That just leaves Bagon and Nerdlord, who are a small, draconian Pokemon and my dog, respectively, so they probably don't belong on a spaceship.
Haha oh man this is hard but fun to think about okay
Captain: Ule EO/2nd Officer: Solange Science Officer: Herbwife Medical Officer: Nayome Engineering Officer: Heill? This is hardd haha Helm: Chava I guess Ops: Dedrei I guess....? Tactician: Mehitabelle Communication: Japeth Head of Security: Folaigh Counselor: Beryline

Captain: Bibliothecaire EO/2nd Officer: Anatasiy Science Officer: Bronte Medical Officer: You know, I have absolutely no clue. XD... maybe Octantis though you may not want a little girl as chief medical but eh... Engineering Officer: This is hard.. ;-; Helm: Delancey Ops: Bronze Tactician: Constable Communication: Chryssa Head of Security: Huo Counselor: uh.. Roccoco I guess. Transporter room: Charming The rest I have absolutely no clue who would fit.
Captain: Xhureth EO/2nd Officer: Thorgi Science Officer: Masquirade Medical Officer: Zhimashen Engineering Officer: Troyes Helm: Sukepugoto Ops: Welsman Ianto Jones Tactician: Eisley Communication: Shirakawa Head of Security: Capt. Jack Harkness

Added Staff Hairdressers: Champoo and Azmaria Ship: Wessel. I kid you not I have a fanpet called Wessel which is based on Star Trek: TOS Enterprise.
If I have claimed a Dance from you and do not immediately Dance I will get back to you.
Always Buying:
[/font]Captain: Picard :P EO/2nd Officer: Nash Science Officer: Spock Medical Officer: Maurice Engineering Officer: Valiant Helm: Galahad Ops: Hypnos Tactician: Tyr Communication: Spite Counselor: Gloopy XD Transporter room: Hyperion Medical team/assistants: Palazzo Engineering team/assistants: Lennart Science team/assistants: Adam Security officers: Poseidon, Haggard, Colossus Barkeep: Wasley Expendable/Redshirts: Awww nooooo, I love my Pets. XD Head of Security: Reinhard
This was fun :D
Captain: Ah-Dol (well he is the strongest) EO/2nd Officer: Sakuya Kira (second strongest) Science Officer: Sirah Medical Officer: Shay Silvertree (though he won't be happy lol) Engineering Officer: Heylel Helm (steers and manuevers, think Chekhov): Hakkai (may actually be the best one here) Ops (monitors all systems, think Data or Sulu): Paper Witch (yes, it is pulling double duty) Tactician (ship defenses including shields and weapons): Creator Destroyer Communication: Deirdre (which may actually be an issue) Head of Security: Paper Witch (considering it is a soul/energy being, can take any form, and never sleeps) Counselor: Princess Butterball and Sir Rodney (they're both cats. Oh gods. Can their ship be known as USS Lost Cause? Because that's what it would be. We have a psychopath as captain, a fallen god as the science officer, someone who not only keeps to himself but really, really dislikes helping out others as the doctor, a being who actually could and probably would take every position on ship, a few children... yeah. But dude, the barkeep. lmao

Captain: Amoral (would not accept anything less. Plus she's already a (pirate) spaceship captain) EO/2nd Officer: Waif (Waif and Amoral would make a pretty terrifying/effective combination actually) Science Officer: Petya Medical Officer: Love-in-a-Mist Engineering Officer: Fix Helm: Whistling Jack Ops: Cyberspace Tactician: 5 Communication: Confessor Head of Security: Scruples
Bonus: Counselor: Empath Transporter room: Scoundrel Medical team/assistants: Moley, Deck Engineering team/assistants: XYZZY, Moll, Celerity Science team/assistants: Rakish, Nougat Security officers: Cur, Firebrand, Svelte, Redshank, Hopalong Barkeep: Foxworthy Expendable/Redshirts: Valet, Ragged Robin
Recurring villain: Merihim
If we ignore the violently opposed moralities of some of the crew, they would probably be fairly effective. Amoral would be like a sociopathic version of Kirk.
this was hilarious to think about!
sacraments is the too serious captain that can't get his crew to behave, riddle tongue is the science officer who's been the test dummy for his own research waaay too many times, genuflect is the doctor no one wants to go to, ever - just let me die, man - idolatry is the asshole 2nd who's constantly trolling the captain but is still too useful to just eject into space, and merkhet is the thing they accidentally beamed up from another planet that no one wants to go near, so they just let him occupy one of the supply closets until they can figure out how to send him back
(meanwhile talion is the token redshirt, except he just keeps coming back)
vishna is a vulcan.
[edit]
:x laughing really hard the idea of julian being the doctor who's solution to everything is to just start hacking limbs off

"but...it's a head cold..."
"that's why we're going to amputate his head"

Hahah, this was a lot of fun to think about (though I'll be honest, I think about it a lot). I could go off and ramble about each character in their own unique position but its late and I'm doped up on painkillers.
Been having some fun and looking through crew sets here. Some of you guys have some seriously homicidal characters xD But that won't stop them from being successful crew members-
Maybe they'll have a high crew turnover, but think of the glory!
the question is, if they're inhabitants of the mirror universe, are there identical yet peaceful versions of your characters somewhere, and would they team up for universal domination or destroy each other? :P
With how well adjusted and capable my little crew seems, mirror universe crew might just be good enough to beat them- tho there's a good chance Mirror Yeoman got into too much rebellious trouble to be captain in her universe, and maybe that will give the normal USS Mackenzi crew the edge they need to come out on top.
I don't think my crew has a trademark villain, but my old pet Utters (who now has a new home) would make an excellent "we didn't realize this goop was sentient until too late" episode.
The glory of blowing themselves up just outside the shipyard? lol
Oh man. I don't remember what the mirror universe was like in the original series. I just finished watching DS9 a couple of weeks ago and that's all I have to go on. They'd probably be working with the Terran Rebellion. Probably more bad ass there than slight buffoons here. Hey, they'd actually make it past the shipyard!
I didn't even think about a villain. I'm going to have to nominate Paper Witch before it became a crew member. Thinking this over Witch would be Q before he was made the comic relief. (omg after all this time I just realized I pretty much made Witch a Q.)
