So ever since I was in high school I thought I wanted to be a nurse. I contemplated other majors, but I decided to go forward with nursing. I applied this last year to my schools program and did not get in. I realize my mistake was applying only to my school and no where else. So since I failed to make it in, I am focusing on my minors: Biology and American Sign Language these next two semesters, but for right now plan to reapply to my school and others. I just now have to take a pre-exam that is now required for nursing school that wasn't required before.

The more I think about it though the more I think about changing my major completely to Biology, but my problem here is there is very little I would want to do. I have always enjoyed animals though and would want to work with them in a setting such as in a zoo or sanctuary. I know there is a specific degree (Zoology) for this but my college doesn't offer that and I am a Junior already and just really don't have the money to go much longer than five years right now.

So I am just a confused mess and don't know what to do and am worried it is too late to change my majors.

Actually I'm going through the exact same thing as you. I returned to school as a Music Ed major because I couldn't afford tuition unless I had a Ed-based scholarship. But this is my final year and I've been so overwhelmed by all the things I needed to do that I just wished so badly I could switch back to performance. I would have a better chance getting a job as an Ed major and there is barely anything out there for performers anymore but it's what I want to do so I'm going for it!

In your case, Bio is such a wide and popular field that you could take that bachelor's degree and do a TON of things with it. It'd be really versatile and you could do some experimenting before getting a higher degree in a specialized field of your choosing. I have a friend who majored in Bio but is now going into specialized nursing so even if you decide to fall back on your old nursing dream, your bio degree would help immensely. I say go for it! You aren't paying all that money to do something you think you might hate later on.

That sounds like a big mess, but I am wishing the best for you! because you should go for it because you are right, we aren't paying the money for something we will hate later on. Also good luck with education I have thought about doing that, but I really dont know if I would have the patients. Performance is a cool thing to teach though, through my school years i always enjoyed those classes the most b/c of the teachers.

I am really thinking about switching and pursuing something after I get out..I need to talk to an adviser at school when I get back. I just feel pressured by my parents partly to go with nursing..but i need to decide before i take that exam too.
