I dont know about you, but I think if I was fighting all those people I would get pretty hungry, and I think our pets should too. Thats a lot of energy being exerted.
I think maybe something like after every 5 battles, our pet's hunger decreases by 1.
This would be really nice for Gourmands, but only if the resort is able to keep up for those that don't have any interest in feeding their battle pets. It would suck to have to keep buying food just so you can battle when you already paid for the resort (I'm not entirely sure how the resort functions, I know there's a delay when you first check in but I don't know if it feeds at a certain time and hunger could drop in between, or if it keeps them fed continually after that first delay).
that mans you can't fight more than what, 30 battles? this will suck in things like gelatin wars
no support
I think it'd be every 50 battles, wouldn't it. Anyway, I think it'd be nice for the gourmand achievement and another site I play on the pets get hungry and their mood goes down when they battle, obviously minions would cover the mood issue, but I think this would be alright. As long as, like said, resort pets are exempt from it.

Technically I think after a fight I'd need rest, not food. Protein bar or shake after training through, THAT'S a real-world must have. Usually an ostrich jerky stick after 90 minute cardio sessions, too.
But after a fight, physiologically you're looking at more fatigue than hunger.
(Also I'm fine with this and definitely agree it'd help with gourmand, but I don't want to go any further with that, so I also support the notion that the pets in resort not be impacted) [edit] Forum point, whoop whoop! The servers smile on my vicious dedication to post-workout protein!
I could see this if it was like, a specific battle opponent instead of all of them. Like instead of getting rewards for battling (so no exp, items, sp etc) you got -1 hunger for every 5 battles.
Maybe the opponent would get harder each 5 (so first 5 is tier 1, next 5 tier 2, etc) and would reset each day? Kind of like a quest but the only reward would be being able to feed your pet more. (This way you couldn't just sit there ALL day depleting your pets hunger. It would eventually just get too hard.)
I've been way too spoiled by the resort all these years. I don't think I could deal with having to actually feed my pets regularly. :P
(Actually, most of them are starving right now because I'm not doing anything with them. Does this make me a bad person?)

I starve all of mine mine except so I don't have to deal with the bad layout on one of the battle pages where you select your pet. so I don't think this makes you a bad person.
If this were changed and it's too inconvenient for wars, people can just stick them in the resort. I don't know if staff has an opinion on how tough they want the gourmand achievement to be. Sadly this will probably make battling more popular to people who wouldn't normally battle, though I hope they stick with it instead of using it as an activity they are forced to do because it'll make things easier. I'd normally support more people battling, but I only want people battling that do it to battle and learn more about it, not just do it to help out with feeding and never really become interested in it.
@ Sopheroo
Thats what the resort is for.
I feel like this could also open the door to battling for people. They might start just as a way to make their pets hungrier, but then find it to be fun and stick with it.
I don't use the resort because back when I used it regularly, it glitched more often than not and didn't feed the pets. Like, a month or two ago, it stopped feeding the pets again. nty, I'm not wasting my money on this.
F-bomb, wish I'd known that before I started figuring I'd investigate battling. I almost never keep food from site events, from quests, or really from anything else, and habitually frag anything that is less than 1k in user shops. The idea that I'm going to have to start buying food for the eventuality of Resort failure is making my skin crawl.
(Also just about every time I read one of your posts, these last couple days, my eyes breeze over 'Ghital' and think it says 'Genital' so thanks for unwittingly causing about fifty double-takes)
WELL, GHITAL IS NAMED AFTER THE LONGTAILED BUSHTIT also known as Aegithalos caudatus :D

I like this suggestion.
It's just logical with regard to the real world. Professional fighters can't spar all day without eating, athletes need fuel and I think our pets should as well.
Yeah but professional fighters also don't punch a bag three times and then stop for a sandwich. I'm glad you made that post, though, because it kind of made me realize - I think that if we're going to be reasonable about it, it should be based on how many rounds it takes to battle.
I'd consider a 'battle' on Subeta to be more like a round in an actual boxing or mma match... and those are typically between 2 and 5 minutes, with the athletes getting a break (and drink) between each round.
I keep my pet in the resort so I don't have to feed her when I battle so I'm not sure how I feel about this. I wouldn't use it. Wouldn't want to pay the extra for food when I may already have to pay extra to heal pets :P
we have to make the pets hungry.. any other way except the glove or waiting will make the gourmand achievement easy. so no support sorry.
Hm, this would make things easier for gourmand in some ways, I suppose. I don't know if I support it or not though tbh because I got as far as I did with the mclaw mentioned above, so I feel like it's fine as is..
If it could be done as to not affect the pets in the resort (read: my battle pet), then I guess it'd be okay, but at the same time, I don't feel like training up my food pet when I already have a separate pet for battling.
I guess this might be more helpful for someone who has a pet that is both their battler and their gourmand at the same time.
