With all the talk of pet slots and how people want more... got me thinking. Now there's probably not that many users who are like this but if there are ... well I dunno if this can be done or not but I'll make the suggestion anyway.

I'm ONLY making this suggestion for PAID slots only.

Now like most users though unlike most I bought several pet slots back then for a massive family. I had pet hopes and dreams but things changed and I kinda stopped wanting a ton of pets. I've tried and tried to get back into the spirit of things but alas the spark for detailed pets and all that kinda died. Now I'm sitting here with 11/21 pet slots and I just don't like having all that free space when soooo many people need/want more pet slots.

Now again I'm ONLY making this suggestion for the PAID slots. Free slots I can live with having the spares for those. It's the ones that cost csc/money/sP that I'm referring to. Would it or could it be possible to transfer pet slots to other users. I don't want compensation for these slots. I'm fine with giving them to people who can benefit from them. I know many can say... just don't use them and you're right I can just ignore them... 1 or 2 slots... but that big number kills me inside....

I don't plan on making more pets, don't plan on doing much else with the slots... so they are just collecting dust. I'm probably the only one who is willing to give up my slots to other users if I can... but if there's others out there well that's cool too.

Also note that there should be a way to not be able to return the slot to the user who gives them away. Might make things easier and prevent scams maybe? I dunno. I'm just tossing this out there. Thanks.

Yeah, I don't really like this idea. I mean, how does it affect the numbers? If you give your paid slots away, do you have those paid slots available to purchase again? Does the other person use up some of their paid slots with the transfer (and if so, that doesn't really help the majority of people asking for more pet slots because they're already at their limit).

Not only that, but I see a lot of people doing this and regretting it later. I mean, for over two years (close to three) I was sure that I'd never do anything with my pets at all. And while I don't really have a lot onsite to show for them, I have started to put work into them. I would hope that, should you change your mind two years down the road, you can't just say "ok I want those slots back now" or something, but I can definitely see that it would suck to have bought slots already and then decide after having already given them away, that you need them after all, and now have to pay for them all over again.

Yeah I kinda figured that after I typed. Me personally I'd much rather just get rid of the slots. I honestly have ZERO desire for more pets and could care less about having to pay for the slots again because well I'd not bother. I kinda figured it might not work but I made the suggestion anyway in case something can be done.

It's nice in theory, but maybe not so much in practice (or maybe there's a way to work it out that I'm not seeing, who knows)

Not sure on the rules about this as Ive only done it with a friend or two. But Ive seen forums in adoption where people who have extras will make/adopt and hold a pet until the one wanting it can get a slot. Allowing those dying for a name but with out slots to not miss a great adopt pet.

I would think if this is allowed (again not sure other than one I held for a friend) maybe you can use your extra slots to help people if this giving away doesnt work out.

Youd still be able to help others and give them pets they want after all. Plus as its a free thing I dont see it being a problem as you are just doing it out of the kindness of your heart.

But yeah 8D Maybe thats better than nothing if you have time to?

I'm totally for this. As someone who only has one pet (le gasp!), I don't want any other pet slots. Though, I only have the freebie slots. I feel like the slots are just wasting space... someone else would benefit from them.

So, I actually had an idea to make it work.

Right now, this is how the slots work

A sixth category called Bestowed Slots would be added, and the max would be 10. Meaning that a user cannot get more than 10 from its peers.

A basic slot cannot be bestowed, so an account cannot go under 10 slots.

I also think there should be a pretty high fee. The top slot in the MC is 100M? The person who wants the slot should pay 100M to Subeta to get the slot.

So

Giver : Loses slots permanently, gives them to getter, with no compensation.

Getter : Pays 100M to Subeta to get slot, gets slot from giver

I would like this. I have extra slots I know I'll never use and, for a strange reason (and a little OCD) it bothers me so much to know I'm stuck with those slots forever.

Or they keep the slot marks but under the text it states "you have given away x/x slots and are only allowed to purchase ____ slots now. Or something like that. I would gladly agree to any legal mumbo jumbo to relinquish my slots I paid for. It's why I stated I don't even want any compensation. I was happy to support the site and I still will but now that things have changed I'd love to give my extra slots to people who actually WANT them.

The only thing I'd wonder about is a person with 100/200 slots if this happened. I mean in theory that seems a little crazy to me, but that's just me.

But yeah, for the person who gives up the slots, there is no payment, no compensation. As long as it's specified really clearly on the feature, this is fine

Same, which is why I'm suggesting that one user cannot recieve more than 10 slots from peers. That's another billion SP spent by these users.

if a person wants to do this, why prevent them as long as the site can handle it? it's not like we should judge how people spend their time on this site.

Yes totally. And of course only the slots that have been paid for but I've mentioned that many times, obviously the free ones are free and meant to be as such and I can live with that.

Honestly, this is why I think that pet slots should not be capped in the first place, if we want to spend 2000 CSC on a slot, let us do it.

But, they won't, so we gotta find other solutions. I like the idea of 10 slots gained in that way, max. Nice number, and doesn't break the game.

as long as it doesn't lead to a lot of lag or something that would harm the site, I don't see a real reason to cap a potential income source to the site.

I don't think that even 10% of the site would go in lag territory. Pet people are really noisy people with too much time and money on their hands, but I don't think it would be that bad in general.

I mean, if a wardrobe can have 20 000 items of data...

I honestly have no clue if even 1000 pets would cause lag or anything harmful, I just say that because if there is a legit reason to capping it at some number, then there really should be a cap.

I pity people looking at their profile. 1000 pet images.

But, for the rest of the site, it should only affect themselves. Accessing their pet page will be near impossible, and doing anything is going to take forever. I mean, imagine the selection just to feed a food for someone with 1000 pets

My pet page is annoying to browse, but I can handle having all these pets.

they could divvy that up into pages or something potentially, only show the first 25 pets or some arbitrary number on user profiles. I'm sure it could be done with a few revamps.
