Welcome, welcome! Welcome new and returning students, as well as new and returning faculty members! My name is Maximus Burke, Acting Headmaster and member of the Board of Governors.
Why am I the Acting Headmaster, you ask? Well, we have had a number of retirements and resignations from professors over the summer. This included our dear Headmaster. The sudden stepping down of that many teachers left a lot of spots to be filled. The Board of Governors and I have done our best to fill as many spots as we could before students started arriving. Alas, we were able to fill all but one: the Headmaster position.
We've conducted interviews with some of the remaining staff and have narrowed it down to four likely candidates. However, in addition to our current staff members, we would like to consider some outside applicants as well.
So now, we are opening up the search to any who wish to apply. Once all the applicants submit themselves, the Board of Governors and I will narrow down the outside hires down to four likely candidates, to keep things even. Once those four are selected, all students will be able to vote for one from the collective eight!
To enter the contest portion of the event, please post on this thread with the following: 1.) Your applicant for Headmaster's human avatar - you can either do this by using an image or using the share feature in the beta wardrobe. 2.) Your applicant's name 3.) At least one fact about your applicant - if you'd like to do a small bio, please feel free!
If your applicant is selected to go onto the final voting, you will receive a prize of 1,000,000 sP along with 25 House Points!
This portion will last until Thursday, July 30th at 6:00PM Subeta Time!
From there, once the four outside applicants are selected as likely candidates, the event will move onto the next portion: the giveaway. The giveaway will consist of voting for your next Headmaster! One vote is equal to one entry for the giveaway, and you are only allowed one vote. At the end of the event, three winners will be selected from those who voted. Stay tuned for the second portion, coming after July 30th!
Also, before you all part, I would like to make a few announcements. First, please note that our new caretaker, Miss Lindsey Kain, would like you to know that she will be making regular visits to the Great Hall for games, avatar contests, and puzzles. (She's nothing but enthusiastic, if not a bit... unconventional.)
Second, start of term begins August 1st, so please have your houses chosen by then if you wish to begin accumulating House Points.
Third, please remember that once you choose a house and term begins, you will not be able to change your house again. Choose wisely!
Good luck to all and good night!
( forgot to ping the group )
HEY GUYS, HUGE NEWS.
has donated a hefty sum to our cult, so the prize for this portion of the contest has now doubled! Each of the four winners will receive 1,000,000 sP and 25 House Points! This also means that there will be better prizes for PART 2 OF THE CONTEST!
I'm pinging again here. Come on guys, we need participants in this HA contest!

Thank you for your time.

Margaret "Peggy" Gawmdrey (b. 23 February, 1961) is a half-blood witch and a Metamorphmagus (just like her great-grandfather). She attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the 1970s and was sorted into Hufflepuff house. During her time at Hogwarts, her favorite classes were Charms and Ancient Runes. In addition to her academic life, she also enjoyed being a part of the Hogwarts orchestra. She was appointed Head Girl (1978-79), despite never being a prefect. Her classmates remember her kind and bubbly personality. Some, however, remember her for her good sense of humor; Peggy often used her ability to change appearance to prank and amuse her fellow classmates, her favorite of which was making some believe they had walked through "a hall of mirrors".
She was absolutely enchanted by the game of Quidditch since the moment she happened upon a team practice at the pitch. Her deathly fear of flying, however, prevented her from ever really trying out for her house's Quidditch team. Despite this, she remained an avid fan; to this day, some have either caught her whooping loudly while watching games during the season or caught her secretly watching a game from an enchanted mirror.
When she's not catching up on her favorite sport, one may find her playing either Wizard chess or playing her cello. She went to work at the Ministry of Magic immediately following her graduation, where she was assigned to the Department of Magical Education. A short time afterwards, she returned to Hogwarts as Professor of Ancient Runes. She married her best friend Christopher Gawmdrey (an alum of Beauxbatons Academy) and adopted two children with him. She resigned from her position a few years after Voldemort's first downfall and became an Auror. While still working as an Auror she was invited to be a part of the Council of Magical Law. She is known to have been a fair juror. After some time, she was promoted and given a seat on the Wizengamot.

After graduating Hogwarts 20 years ago, she set out to travel the world and learn all there was to know about the international wizarding world. She has made many friends, and has become an exceptionally powerful witch. After 20 years of travel, she is ready for a quiet life sharing her knowledge with young witches and wizards. She is a very free spirit, but she is fiercely loyal to those who have earned it.

Hello, my name is Magdelyn "Mags" Bogglin.
I know I seem young but what I lack in age, I make up in smarts. I have served in the Ministry of Magic's Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes and climbed my way up to the Wizengamot through sheer determination and stubbornness.
While attending Hogwarts, I was in Ravenclaw house, name prefect in my fifth year and Head Girl in my seventh. When I set my mind to do something, I do it. Knowledge is one of the most important things in this world and preserving it for the years to come, instilling it in the young witches and wizards who come to Hogwarts is something I would not fail to do.
To this position I would bring my expertise in safety, the Wizarding law, knowledge of the school and the passion for helping learning minds grow.
I hope you will consider me!
Cheers!

Outfit Not Found Greetings my fellow witches and wizards, magical beings of all kinds.
Mortimer Ollerton, of the Ollerton brothers Cleansweep broom Co. at your service. Not only are the Ollertons producers of some of the most dependable flying brooms available, but I have served on the Department of Magical Games and Sports with distinction for the last six years.
As headmaster, I would like to usher in a new era of inter-school cooperation and friendly competition. If chosen for this demanding position, I would expand classes to include guest teachers from other schools, and exchange student programs would be set up to widen our magical diversity.
My credentials are public record at the Ministry of Magic, and reflect my view that all magical folk can achieve their highest potential through superior education.
A vote for me is a vote for yourselves, through your children's futures.
Thank you.

My name is Xanthe Dimitra.
Just a little bit about my past: I attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry many years ago. I graduated from Hogwarts intending to go into Astronomy.
I traveled the world, working here and there when I was needed, and after several years landed myself a job at the Ministry of Magic. I started as a member on a research committee, but was promoted into a job in the Department of Mysteries shortly after. (I can't give too many specifics about my duties there, of course.) I also served on the International Confederation of Wizards during this time. After about forty years at the Ministry, I was ready to retire... Or so I thought.
I did enjoy retirement for a while, but my mind grew restless as time went on. I needed to use the knowledge that I had accumulated during my life, needed to share it. So of course, when I heard Hogwarts was hiring a new Headmaster/mistress, I jumped at the opportunity. Really, I jumped right out of my armchair when I read it in the paper! I knew that this would be the perfect fit for me at this stage in my life. Oh, I know I may seem like an old granny, but I do have some spunk left in me!
I certainly do hope that you will consider me for this position. I would be most excited to return to Hogwarts, to share my love of knowledge with the school's young minds -- and perhaps even to learn some more myself!
Cheerio, and thanks!

Flora Kettletoft is well known amongst her peers as the author of Stitch Witches Volume 1: Knit Happens and Stitch Witches Volume 2: Get Hooking. She spent much of the last decade travelling the world gathering native herbal medicinal recipes and learning locally pass down knitting patterns, but has recently decided to make her home in Hogsmeade to sell magically imbued crafting objects and herbal sachets. Like many of her fellow Hufflepuffs she is a gentle spirited, yet firm, woman who enjoys helping others reach their full potential.

Outfit Not Found Arlene MacKinnon Hello, little doves. My name is Arlene MacKinnon, former Professor of Arthithmancy at Salem Institute of Magic. While I hail from Scotland, I was offered a position to teach in the United States of America shortly after graduating from Hogwarts, and of course I eagerly accepted. I've recently returned home after retiring from my position there and I now hope to be considered for the position of Hogwarts Headmistress. After all that's happened here, these children need a nurturing soul, such as myself, to watch over them. I believe that I would be a perfect fit in this time need and the many years to come after!
Outfit Not Found Ellery Chen Good evening. I'm Ellery Chen. You may know me as the former Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports. I was charged with the tasks of restoring order, good sportsmanship, fair play, and friendly competition in organized wizarding sports after Ludovic Bagman's departure. I've overseen two Quidditch World Cups during my tenure at the Ministry of Magic and have high hopes to bring back the Triwizard Tournament to Hogwarts. I envision the Tournament occurring every four years and hope to foster safety, international cooperation, and understanding between foreign peoples through exchange programs for Fourth years during the summer term.
During my own time at Hogwarts I managed to play on two Quidditch Cup winning teams and found all the secret passages in the castle.

Thanks for your submissions!
Just a reminder, this portion of the festivities ends tomorrow night at 6pm! So please get your submissions in before then.

Good morning, everyone! Excuse my lateness. It appears that I managed to disappear for 3 days. How odd!
Anyway, some of you may recognize me as Madam Anastasia. I have spent the past 10 years traveling around the world and teaching various subjects at different magical schools. So far, I have taught at Beauxbatons Academy of Magic in France, Mahoutokoro in Japan, Koldovstoretz in Russia, and even briefly here at Hogwarts.
