Two things...
First, the idiot who owns the place that I work at? We had a leak in the ceiling earlier this week to the point of there was a part of the ceiling that caved in. We had buckets down to catch any and all residual water. Manager left the fans on to encourage it to dry, OWNER turned them OFF. Cue soaked carpet. For someone who's apparently very afraid of mold, she's certainly promoting it!
Secondly, I've been pursuing a job as a computer tech for a highly reputable computer company since May. I'm getting really frustrated with the sheer lack of progress on it so I called the guy today that has my resume.
Biggest. Mistake. I. Could. Ever. Have. Made.
He was en route to where he and his family were going on vacation and I called in the midst of it. Mind you, not intentionally, I had no idea when the guy was going on vacation but the idea just... I think I just lost all hope with this job thing now.
I just want to go home, lock myself in my room and play Dragon Age all weekend now. I'm no good in adult/social situations.

I once cockblocked my old boss - no regret because I earned a promotion.
Seriously, don't give up. Peharps, he will see it as strong will and motivation! @ Arno [Edit] can't english today
There's no way you could have known that he was going on vacation. He might be a bit irate now but that will pass. If anything you're showing him you're still very much interesting and motivated.
Also on the topic of the first thing. One of my managers once tried to "fix" the sanitizer tube for the sink since it wasn't putting enough into the water mix in the sink. Instead of fixing it he unplugs it. Tube goes behind the sink spreading the stuff everywhere. He makes me for an hour (cuz I wash the dishes) go under the sink trying to get the damn thing up back threw it's hole and in the proper place. He won't listen to anyone until finally one girl just takes over and together we fix it in 5 mins with duck tape and floss. Sometimes people in charge are just idiots but there's always someone else to back you up.
That owner seriously needs to get mold sickness. No. Wait. I really wouldn't wish that on anyone. It's horrible. Like, the worst allergies you've had x1000. Ugh. I guess you'd probably understand if I asked if you knew what it was like to feel like you had to babysit your boss, lol. Thank God I have a boss now who's awesome and actually intelligent.
About the possible job you called, if he's any sort of reasonable person, he'll know you couldn't possibly have known where he'd be when you called. Unless he told you he was going on vacation and when. And if he gave you his cell number (which is what it sounds like) then he should have known you'd call at some point. I wouldn't worry about it unless he sounded pissed or said something about it.
The mngr of the dpt next to mine HATES me. I've never done anything to him personally, but we share the cooler/freezer and my stuff is always in the way (my dpt makes twice as much shit as his does) so he's always mad at me. The other day he told me I have no common sense.
The owner sounds like an ass.
I'm terrified he'll just see it as failure to follow instructions and put me on a don't call list like some places over here do.
I hope so, I feel like I'm getting him at the most inappropriate times. x_x; Also, yikes, what is it with stupid bosses...
The owner needs to figure out she's being stupid and quit it but that would involve at least an act of God.
I had no idea he was going on vacation, I called and about died in the spot. I felt like hanging up and crying, didn't, nigh had a panic attack instead. I hope he understands it was an honest mistake.
This the least of it. The guy you're dealing with needs to straighten out, literally or figuratively.

I remember my boss at the place I used to work would never get the air conditioner fixed, and the was a doorway that leaked. It was always so hot and muggy there.
I'm hoping he understands. x.x;

I have some job woes too. I'm not complaining about my job (I've been at the pet store FOREVER. It has to be 4+ years. I don't know when I was hired. I don't keep track of that stuff), but sometimes, I get very frustrated and annoyed at a few of the people who work there. We are a small store, so, we only have 5 staff members and the boss is always there (owner), except on Saturdays.
I used to get three shifts a week, then it dropped to two and now I've had one shift for the past two years.
One lady who works there (she's like 60 something) she likes to think she's the boss. She does what she wants and never gets in trouble for it. She also bosses us around and we have to redo our work if it doesn't meet her "standards". If you dust a section (I'm generally fast at dusting, removing products and all) and you're too fast it at, she doesn't believe that you've done it. It's like, you can't touch her because she's perfect. She plays with the guinea pigs all the time and takes all day to clean the bird cages. She started complaining that the birds stress her out and she can't clean them anymore, so, I was put on bird duty every Sunday (which is the only days I work). So, I wash cages every week. I used to wash the hamster cages.
What pisses me off the most? When people don't refill food bins, the wood chip bin or the litter bin.
I actually got a second job because I wasn't getting enough hours. I can't live on a $50 pay check.
One lady took two weeks off and my boss gave all the extra shifts to this teenage girl. What's wrong with me? Seriously. The only extra shift I get at the pet store is if one of the teenage girls can't work it. Some of it is for stupid reasons (which my boss sometimes complains "oh, she needed Saturday off AGAIN").
So yeah.
Sorry this was so long.
