I think I've asked this before, but it's been a while and I don't quite remember the answer...

So, there used to be an order in which you had to acquire pet slots in order to maximize everything. If I remember correctly, it went something like this:

-5 base slots -5 GA slots (10 total) -10 cash shop slots from the magical plushies (20 total) -any additional slots from loyalty totems, special events, et cetera (21+ total)

And basically, I think if you used anything lower down on the list, it would mess up the ones higher... Or at least the totems and plushies worked that way. So, using a totem would count as buying an extra pet slot with CSC (e.g. if you had 19 pet slots and you used a loyalty totem, it would give you 20 maximum slots, but you would be unable to purchase any more slots with CSC),unless you already had the maximum amount (20), at which point it would take you beyond the normal limit (21+).

Now, however... I know there has been a recent change so that everyone gets the base 10 slots. But do the CSC slots and the totems still work as described above, or do they count separately?

(So, using the above example: someone with 19 pet slots, obtained solely from a combination of the base slots and CSC purchases, uses a loyalty totem [or gets one as part of a site event, such as the Quest-A-Thon] and now has 20 pet slots, but can still purchase one additional slot with CSC, for an overall total of 21.)

I have a feeling this is the case, because I already have 11 pet slots, and I seem to recall having obtained a pet slot totem at some point in the past, and also seeing someone mention that the event slot hadn't been given out yet. Still, I just want to make absolutely sure that I won't be wasting a loyalty box or something if I use it without purchasing all of the available CSC slots first.

This is a FAQ which unfortunately never gets permanently posted. I think we need to desperately update pet FAQs.

Part 2 in the Extra Pet Slots Breakdown (Pet Slot Loyalty Totems) only comes from loyalty totems. Loyalty totems are mainly given out annually after 2 years. There are exceptions, for example there was an event to get 2000 user online and the reward was one of those.

Part 1 (Slot Plushies and Early Totems) and Part 3 (New Slot Additions) comes from slot purchases and defunct pet slot plushies. When Part 1 is filled up by purchasing pet slots, Part 3 will fill up after that. The 2 parts are for legacy reasons.

In total: 10 from GA (Previously it was 5 + 5 = 10) 10 + 15 = 25 purchasable slots Then extras pet slots from totems on top of that.

If you never used or gotten any totems before the max is 35 pets. Then loyalty totems on top of that.
