Saving Those Precious to Us or Where the Heck Is That Third Key?

The last obstacle in the maze looms before the small and weary group. A huge rock pile blocks the path to the light shimmering above and beyond. Sounds of Bone Riders accelerating on the other side is loud enough to shake the loose rocks down.

"Here they come!" Kelian yells, readying his automatic crossbow, but Tanaka is nowhere to be seen.

Larianne pulls her bike to one side, and assembles a small stack of throwing knives from her pack and Grumpus stands alert on the seat of Tanaka's bike.

Over the pile stream the Riders, right into Kelian's quick repeating fire, which downs a number of them. However, more are sliding down already dead, the vehicles wildly careening into others descending.

From a ledge far above, Tanaka has vaulted onto the top of the pile, his twin swords moving almost faster than the eye can see. He whirls through the center of the Riders in a deadly windstorm. Kelian lets out a whoop and sends a reload of missles to pick off the ones coming through.

Larianne actually manages to send a Rider or two flying with blades tossed into the wheels. "I can't hit them yet, Grumpkins, but I can cripple a few bikes."

Grumpus nods grimly and waits for his own opening. It seems the battle is now going in their favor, as the Riders are down to few. However, what Larianne doesn't see is that one of the Riders has managed to make it past her and is charging toward her with sword raised.

"Lari, get down!" cries a frantic voice, and then Tanaka floats over and across two ledges to land on top of her, smash her flat, and leave himself open to the blow instead.

Knowing he has no time to strike out, he waits for the blow, but instead hears a gurgle and a curse from the opponent. The Rider staggers back, slices from fans across his face. Tanaka rolls up and impales the Rider with his sword.

As the body falls, Grumpus bows to Tanaka. "Thank you, Sensei."

Tanaka laughs. "No, thank you. You have true claws, little friend." Then he reaches out and pulls Larianne up. "Okay, Girlie, that's twice now."

Kelian takes out the last three Riders, and it's over. He runs over to make sure Larianne is all right, pulling her into a tight hug. She is still shaken, unsure of all that has happened, and more than a little confused.

All around, the maze is quiet. Then there is a soft rumbling, as if the spirit of the previously inert walls are crumbling, and the rocks slide down and away to reveal a passage inward to a shining portal of rosy light. They venture in in silence.

They reach a lovely clearing, with enough vegetation to make it a pleasant place to rest. Kelian takes a small horn from inside his coat pocket and blows. The portal begins pulsing.

He then begins to weave a wreath of branch and petal for Larianne.

"Color shades are off some," scoffs Grumpus.

"It's beautiful though," Larianne says, stripping off her torn jacket and placing the wreath on her hair. "Thank you, Kelian, and thank you too, Tanaka."

Kelian bows, but Tanaka just winks at her. He pulls the ring from his pack and hands it back to Kelian. "I believe this belongs to you."

Kelian takes it and nods slowly. "I thought I might not survive checking out this place, so I gave it to Sunny for safekeeping. If anything seemed suspicious, I told her to pass it on to you. She's always seen us on patrols when she was hidden and watching. I never thought it would cost her her life. Sunny was a valiant Sentinel. I plan to honor her by finding her killer."

"I'm with you on that," Tanaka agrees. "We'll make it right, I promise...Caniel."

"You're Caniel?" Larianne gasps.

"I am," Kelian explains. "I used the idea of becoming a rock star as a cover. I had some news from a spy in the Unseelie realm, and I wanted to find the truth, no matter what it cost. I really didn't have an idea how much the Unseelie would exploit my leaving, but, when I saw the light in the center of the Elder's maze, I knew we had to get through to it. It would take everyone, including all these brave adventurers, to do it."

Larianne stares at the light, which is now transforming into an open portal. Strains of music come from within, and then a figure steps out warily and sits gingerly on a nearby rock, eying his surroundings with suspicion, but also with relief.

Kelian rushes forward, and bows deeply. The figure rises and studies the other man's face, then touches Kelian's cheek in awed recognition. Both men hug each other tightly, tears streaming down both their faces.

Kelian turns back to his companions. "Allow me to introduce my older brother, his Highness Delgar, Crown Prince of the Seelie."

In the Gearloose Goose, the others are pacing restlessly.

"It's so hard just waiting," Jack laments.

"I could get my puzzle book," Ertrude suggests.

"We're good for our own puzzles," Thorson says. "For example:

Quote
Jack went to the market to sell some oats and beans. However, as he had only one sack and didn&;t want to mix oats and beans, so he poured in the oats first, tied the sack in the middle, and then filled the top portion of the sack with the beans.</p>
<p>At the market a rich merchant happened by with his own sack. He wanted to buy the oats, but he did not want the beans.</p>
<p>Now, pouring the seeds anywhere else but the sacks is considered soiling, and they can&;t be sold. Trading sacks is not allowed. Jack can&;t cut a hole in his sack. So, how can you transfer the oats to the merchant&;s sack without soiling them.

"I've got a good one, too," exclaims Morrow. "Is very tricky, Goblin style, but still suitable for Reformed."

Quote
Two goblins go to sea and travel far and wide. Now, there was one time when they were standing on opposite sides of the ship. One was looking west and the other one east. And at the same time, they could always see each other clearly. So, where could they possibly be?&quot;

"You two riddlers are pikers," laughs Hayao. "How about this one?"

Quote
Three guests check in at the best hotel in Crystania. They&;re sharing, so they pay 30 Crysmarks and go up to their room. But the hotel is having a 25 Crysmark special, so the concierge gives the porter 5 Crysmarks to return to the guests. On the way to the room, the porter reasons that 5 Crysmarks would be difficult to split among three people so he pockets 2 and gives 1 to each person. Now each person paid 10 Crysmarks and got back 1, meaning they paid 9 each, totaling 27. The porter pocketed 2, adding up to 29. Wait! Where&;s the remaining Crysmark?

"Okay," says Winton, still pacing, but we need something hands-on as well as just thinking. Honey, go get the book."

"Don't bother," Ms. Miranda smiles, whipping out a huge piece of paper and unrolling it onto the table. "I've got a fun activity right here:"

"This'll probably hold us for a little while added to the riddles," she adds as she passes out blank paper and pencils.

Lucien and Izzy appear at the swinging doors, smiling widely. "You have more to do than that, mes amis," he laughs. "Our friends have cleared the maze, and all is well. But we also saw a strange occurrence on our fly-over."

"Someone came out of the portal in the center of the maze," Izzy breaks in. "And unless we miss our guess, it's got to be that missing Seelie heir, Delgar! So we need proper gifts to welcome him!"

(OOC: This is a lot of puzzles, but relaxing and fun ones, plus a gift of the imagination. Prepare a "You're Not Dead, Welcome Back" gift for Delgar with seven (7) Subetan items that you think would be most appropriate. Give the reasons why you chose those items, and possibly even a theme/statement for your package. :D This gift PLUS all the puzzles is due by July 21st at 11:59 Subeta time. Kick back and enjoy these challenges. <3)

Once the adventurers arrive and a great fuss is made over new discoveries, the new Seelie Prince, and plans for the future, life goes on. Ertrude and all the other healers patch wounds while Winton and Morrow serve a quick meal.

Tomorrow, word will be sent to the Seelie Court, and all will celebrate Delgar's return, but tonight, everyone needs rest. Unharmed except for a few scrapes but tired to the bone, a small tomcat gives his sensei a final headbump and makes his way up to the chamber where Vibrissa is quietly sleeping. To his surprise, she is being guarded by one of the Feline Spirits, this one garbed in raiment of Renewal.

Grumpus bows again, and realizes it hurts a bit to move. Gently the Spirit raises him and soothes his sore muscles.

"You were brave today, Prince Consort," she says smiling, "and your loved one is healing and renewing even now. Rest near her, and do not fear."

She places Grumpus onto the wide bed near his mate. He curls in against her in protective mode, and drifts toward slumber. Later, he is not sure if he dreamed it or if it happened, but he feels Vibrissa purr, and her dear rough tongue flicks out to wash his scraped ear.

"Grumpkins, my hero," she croons softly, as the Feline Spirit sings both cats a healing lullaby.

There was no way we were going to do this seriously after such a horrific battle. Jocularity is a must in this situation.

Stone Cold Rogues Gifts ( read the item descriptions! )

We just thought that, you know, being lost for a whole bunch of time, and then suddenly turning up not dead, that perhaps you needed someone to look after you to keep you safe in the future. So, we assembled a whole miniature army of companions for you, plus some really cool royal thingies in honor of your royalness, and present them to you with humble pride.

  1. [item2=Gilded Tray of Phoenix Ashes] This guardian is kind of like you...you were dead ( or so we thought ) Now you are alive ( so we think ). Can I just check your pulse?

2.[item2=Tree of the King Shield]Now this is a really cool thing. You get a TATOO! On your leg! Because you've been through a horrendous ordeal, you need to honor your victory over this difficulty by getting a tattoo like all great warriors do. This tattoo is significant because it tells your whole story with just a few pen strokes. You'll will be getting your tattoo immediately after you drink your keg of beer.

  1. [item2=Guardian Armor Companion] Did you see the movie Thor...oh wait...probably not. Well, in the movie Thor.... um, a movie is a story told in pictures...no, not like a mural painting....never mind about the movie Thor. This is a thing that will blast anything that you tell it to...like in the movie Thor....I mean...never mind.

  2. [item2=Gold Wolf Totem] C'mon! It's a wolf! It won't bite you necessarily. It's to keep you safe from enemies. We think.

  3. [item2=Spirit Wolf DreamCatcher] Because even your dreams need protection it seems, you apparently sleep a lot.

  4. [item2=Lost Monarchs Crown] Every future king needs a lovely crown. Since you're not king yet, this is just a place holder.

  5. [item2=beer keg] Seriously, you need to get down and catch up on all those princely parties that you've missed over the years. This kegs for you. (More's coming, you seriously didn't think we were going to let you drink alone now did you? We each get our own keg. )

  6. [item2=Dark Ale Beer Horn] C'mon, did you think we were just going to let you put your mouth on the keg tap? That's not really royal-like you know. So we got you an extra little present, this handy Seelie-style horn thingie that we found in the Ye Olde Seelie Kingdom Gift and Curio Shoppe during our last visit. You can drink from and look really cool and royal doing it. Made in Omen. Genuine plastic. Accept no imitations. Bottom's up! ( We're not royalty and so we're going to drink directly from the tap )

Yes, I am a role-playing character, but I don’t bite (much.)

3: Purple Hand Knit Sweater (Purple for royality, Paddy's personal contribution, her best knitted sweater)

4: Enchanted Elven Bow Your aim will always be perfect when shooting with this bow! (Raven's personal gift, a weapon and means of survival--extremely important things to Raven)

All the friends who come and go, all of the adventures you have, he's right there with you. (Reaper's personal gift: A gift of a staff, for a mage's powers are amplified from them.)

6: Blueberry Sparkling Celebration Champagne Flute (because we want to toast his health and celebrate his return)

7: Delightful Seven Layer Cookie

Three layers of almond cookie, two layers of apricot preserves, and two layers of chocolate to hold all that flavor together. (seven is long known to have magical powers, what better way to finish of the basket with the 7th item being a seven layer cake. Food to fill bellies and round off the celebration)

Freedom Gifts for the Prince from the Bohemian Travelers We chose these gifts as if they are fit for a king, they are also fit for a prince. We think they are most suitable for a Prince who needs to travel his kingdom, to reacquaint himself with the land and the peoples.

"You're Not Dead, Welcome Back"

As the team bows in front of the Seelie heir, Delgar, at the welcoming party, each watches in anticipation and excitement hoping he will accept their gifts for the way intended as Chandie steps forward first and bows.

"Prince Delgar, please accept the small presents bestowed upon you, by the team Bohemian Travelers, gifts given happily because of your long awaited return. After much thought we felt you wished freedom to move around the Seelie Kingdom hence present you with traveling gifts."

Looking around the hall, Chandie nods to herself and backing up to the door proceeds to proudly present the first gift of Satisfied with the quiet gasps of awe when seen, her smile widens as she speaks.

"This is not one for you to look in his eyes.. but for your enemies. He will protect you on your journey to renew the acquaintance with the kingdom".

Bowing low, she leaves the steed just outside the door and returns to the group. Blood Frenzy steps up next holding out what is needed for his steed.

"Sire, we welcome you back to the Kingdom. We trust that you find our gifts acceptable and will make much use of them. We have taken much time to select these and each one holds our love and undivided loyalty."

Kronus then approaches with the . Bowing low, Kronus holds out a nice new set of shiny black boots to the Prince. "Your Highness, one must wear strong boots, as a horse may unintentionally step on your foot or you may even step in something not too pleasant. It's much easier to clean boots than shoes in this case. Ha Ha Ha!!! The boots will keep your feet dry too." Bowing once again Kronus stepped backwards to allow Elne to present her gift.

Elne pulls out the ...from her satchel with a grin. "Your Highness, to ride upon your horse wearing your royal trousers is quite ruinous to the item. These are very hard-wearing, durable, comfortable and practical. May they serve your royal butt well." With that, trying so very hard not to laugh, she took the princes' leave.

Galadeth added a ...letting him know this wasn't simply an ordinary crop but had a touch of magic imbued into the handle..

"Sire, this not only is a fine riding crop, but it has been entranced by myself, Galadeth. Take it whenever you ride and you will be protected from evil of all kind. It will not only shield you but also your mighty steed from any harm." Dori presented a .. ...with such fine stitches no human could possibly have made. Dori had special attention made to current human fashion on the planet, as seaweed accessories seemed as desirably unlikely. Having the item made by Transphibian tailors thrilled Dori, who sorely missed the rest of the triumvirate and was longing for home. Seelie and Unseelie subterfuge was confusing and frightening and though enjoying the teamwork whenever limited communications enabled, it wasn't home, which was far far away. But curtseying low held back fears and presented the coat to the prince, smiling bravely and uttering the words,

"Please accept this humble but special gift made by Transphibian tailors, I believe it is unique in this world, and only worthy of a prince such as you."

The entire team bows or cutsies low again amidst praise of their thoughtful presents then Chandie places a ... at his feet and there were sudden whispers... "how can they be so inconsiderate.. put them in the dungeon." among other things... While Chandie blushes profusely and the rest look fairly nervous she explains..

Your Highness, Prince... this is a magic piece of dirt. It will allow you to travel where you wish in the Seelie Kingdom. We ran across this from one of the bone skeletons while attempting to find you. Blood Frenzy got it from a pack. We wish you to have this as our ultimate gift.

With heads bowed, the entire team awaits his words.

Reaver: "You're not dead, welcome back" gift basket

The overall theme of the gift we decided to give to Delgar is Light, Royalty, Sophisticated, Strong and Powerful. All words we think fit Prince Delgar very well.

First item: Bottled Sunlight Rays: This jar contains the purest light that can be found. When carrying it around, it will make sure that the person holding it will always find his way. The light will guide the paths Delgar is going to take and makes sure he will never be in the dark.

Second item: Purple Royalty Cape: A cape fitting for every member of a royal family. It can be used to hide things when the person makes use of one of the many hidden pockets inside.

Third item: Courageous Hero Shield: A shield fitting for a hero, so therefor perfect for the royal Delgar. It's certain to protect the user carrying it in every battle that may come.

Fourth item Diamond Encrusted Sword: Every member of royalty should have a sword with diamonds. This sword however is not only pretty, it's also strong, powerful and deadly in a battle, making it the perfect weapon to use.

Fifth item Simple Diamond Shaped Cufflinks: Add a touch of gold to show the wealth, these will finish off every royal look. Due to their shape, these cufflinks also fit perfectly with the diamond encrusted sword.

Sixth item Southern Gentleman Cane: Using this item will for sure show the wealth of the user. This is not only pretty and sophisticated, it can also be used to fight!

Seventh item: Gregorian Fox Companion: Even a member of royalty may feel lonely at some times. This little fox will be a friend along the way, helping you to find your way.

A gift for the Prince The Whovians approach Prince Delgar, arms laden with gifts

Firstly, we would like to present

our message is in the title. A Warm Welcome back to the long lost Prince Delgar.

to signify friendship between the Seelie Court and the Wayward Squirrel Protectors

- a personal gift from Haneway our alchemist. After all, cooking and baking is just like alchemy, just tastes better (ideally!), and her homemade cookies are perfect to welcome you back home.

- a gift from our warrior, Raw. The pearls reinforce the strength of this sword. A useful and fitting sword for the heir to the throne.

- a spiritual gift from Clara, if you find yourself lost in the middle of the night, in the middle of the woods... lost with nowhere to go, and nothing giving clear evidence of which direction to follow, this wolf will guide your way. You may not see him, but when you finally find your way, it was because he was there, helping all along, whether you knew it or not.

- a gift from Sera who believes that every ruler should be a student of history to remember and to learn from our pasts to make a better future.

- a personal gift from Sazi, our technomancer, one that the Prince may use or eat forever.

"Forged from the strongest and most beautiful materials in all the Seelie lands, we offer him the following armour to help protect him on his future journeys:"

Wolf magically brings in a mannequin from around the corner without leaving her place.

Private Outfit

" for sharp attack. This sword can cut through almost anything."

" and made out of the finest and strongest dragon hide, to keep his highness' chest and body safe from attacks and blows to the most vital organs."

" to protect your feet in combat."

" chainmail to protect your legs."

" for self-defense and further protection."

"And finally, to show your regal status."

"We hope that you enjoy these gifts as much as we enjoyed presenting them to you. To your eternal, kind and peaceful reign, Prince Delgar. May you live forever and prosper in goodness!"

catnip thieves Our mood and spirit was lifted with the revelation of both princes being safe and sound. Perhaps there's a chance now to prevent the Unseelie from wrecking havoc on their realm. Before we could become engrossed in discussing what would happen next, a spirited faerie arrives before our party and invites us to the princes welcoming party. Welcoming a chance to experience light-hearted revelry, our team gladly accepts and we spend the rest of the day planning appropriate gifts for the prince.

We arrive at the party with all of our gifts in hand. We approach the prince and present to him...

Braver --- Because the prince seems to like navy blue, as his travelling clothes show these colors. And every hero needs a tunic like this; both for practical and stylish purposes. --- Because the prince showed the same maneuverability than this little companion to outwit his enemies. (Plus he's brown. Another color Delgar seems to like, judging the color scheme of his clothing.) --- The description says it all: You're number one. Never forget that.

Brother --- Because Delgar is more than a prince: He's a brother. And with this writing set he will be able to correspond with Kelian in a suitable manner. --- A fine weapon that symbolizes the blood bond between Delgar and his brother. The description summarizes this message: And now let's go hand in hand, not one before another.

Bliss --- Ancient mages told that Delgards life path number is 11. Considering his turbulent past we thought the prince might need a little mojo in the form of this coin to keep his quest for happiness. --- Last but not least this item represents our own journey to this very portal. A prince needs entourage. Catnip Thieves is at your service!

"Great prince we have presented to you these gifts with the reason of why we had picked each one of them. Together though they signify the bond that you have with your brother and your people and will hopefully assist you in the future. It is indeed a grand reason to celebrate due to the fact that what was lost is now found. Two brothers are reunited and we can rejoice in knowing that your kingdom will be all the more secure for it."

[spoiler=To prepare gifts for the King] Verrek returned with the others to the Gearloose Goose. Wounds were mended, bruises were tended, and bikes repaired outside.

The shade was relieved to hear that SilentOne had suffered no harm from his run-in with the maze's enchanted ceiling. He had obviously been well enough to sneak out of Verreks bag and fly off to judge the race!

Verrek sat in his favorite corner winding a knotted brown cord about the call stone shard. He planned to make it into a pendant so it'll be easier to use and keep track of. As he worked he listened in on the conversations around him.

Everyone was busy chatting about Delgar. The Seelic heir to the throne, alive! Verrek was more interested in the fact that Kelian had been Caniel all along!

Now there was talk of putting together a gift package of sorts for the rescued Seelic heir. Verrek nodded, it was a good idea. Poor chap, lost to an enchanted maze with bone riders hunting you. Had to have been a rough time!

The shade looked sidelong to his team. What would they decide? It looked like they were busy discussing the fact that Kir had stayed behind from the mission in the maze...

Myra sighed. She missed Kir. They had shared a bond since they headed out for kidnapping some clothes for the Elven reception back then. She hoped she would see her again, perhaps together with Aldora and her sweet koala dragon. However, deep in her heart, she knew the girls were all right, only busy. Now to cope with the new situation, Myra thought. It was wonderful Delgar was alive and united with his brother Kelian again! Kelian, who had given us the run around, the alchemist thought chuckling. Shouldn´t there be some kind of celebration for this? Some feasting, music, singing and dancing? And the gift package, naturally. The presents had to be chosen with care, though, to show their happiness, trust, hope and devotion. What could she give the Elven prince? Certainly some kind of powerful healing elixir. Elven had a lot of magic themselves yet there was a battle waiting at their doorstep, that was for sure, and probably another fierce one. Elven could receive an injury, too, perhaps they don´t die at the spot yet suffer, they would do also. I could use one of Shimmershadow´s tears for this, Myra thought, mix it with some powerful herbs. And I think I have a beautiful vial somewhere among my things......

Krios saw Verrek sitting in a corner, working with his piece of call stone. He was tired of all the talk about Delgar. The prince, the savior, the long-lost brother, the heir to the throne. Blah blah blah. Good that they had freed him yet would he be an asset in the next battle, too? We´ll see, Krios thought. According to popular belief, Delgar was described as a mighty warrior. Hopefully, he´ll live up to this expectations! The young mage sat down beside Verrek and jogged his elbow. "What do you think of our prince here, my friend?" he asked the shade inquiringly.

Verrek gave Krios a smile in greeting then leaned forward to put his elbows on his knees while he pondered the question.

"Hard to say, I don't know much about the Seelic culture, all the Seelies living in the colonies of the far border regions from whence I hail didn't travel so far because they wanted to keep to the traditions of their people. News from these territories is rare anyway, so I can't say much for how Delgar's return will affect the politics of these lands."

The shade leaned back to sprawl in his chair, allowing his body to relax it's aching muscles.

"I will say this though; Having Delgar here only gives the Unseelie all the more reason to redouble their efforts to attack."

Visions of war and battle swirled through the shade's mind, and like rising black waters deeper memories of the horrors of the realm of souls began to seep through. Verrek quickly shut his mind to such thoughts, his body shook it's head in reaction.

"Ah, but these are things we cannot help until they come to pass. So tell me Krios, what is all this talk of a gift package?"

I don´t know what to make of this, Dude!" Krios answered. "It´s boring women talk. Gifting is women work, cut and dried! Keeping the social standards up is their duty, history told us that!" the mage said, scowling a little bit at it.

Myra had approached the two of them, listening to Krios last statement and rolling her eyes. "It´s only sensible and friendly to put together a welcome gift package! Think about how long the old chap, ahem his highness, was all alone in the maze, not knowing if and when he would be freed! We should show him how relieved we are that he is back and welcome him into our midst! I thought about mixing a potent healing elixir for Delgar. What items have you boys in mind?" the alchemist asked serenely. "And what about our other friends, we really should decide on this together!" And with a wave, she beckoned Valera, Lilith, Elia and Matthew over to the trio in the corner.

The shade wasn't given a chance to react to the fact that Krios had just said the word 'Dude' because Myra had caught sight of the two men and came over. The alchemist then proceeded to call all of the Chimeriad over to Verrek's favorite shadowy corner.

"Alas," thought Verrek dejectedly.

"T'was a good sanctuary while it lasted- hey!" He called out mentally as SilentOne took flight from the corner at the sight of the approaching Chimeriad. It was indeed getting too crowded here.

"You cowardly carrion, abandoning me in my peril, I hope your feathers fall out."

Verrek let none of his thoughts show through his mortal shell as he rose to greet his new companions.

"Well if gift giving is what we must do then let them be gifts as to never be forgotten!"

His outward cheer a complete opposite to his secret exhaustion. Verrek always found it curious that when he used his puppet body to keep up the spirits of those around him often his own spirit would be lifted as well.

What else was new, Valera was drinking. One would think she would have needed a new liver by now but the alcohol didn't seem to phase her one bit, must be something to do with her being a viera. Feng followed his master closely as she joined the others in case she had indeed had to much to drink.

"I have n' idea! Why not get ye young lad a giant cask of the finest whiskey?!" Valera held up a small metal flask filled with whiskey, she seemed quite fond of the notion. The scent of alcohol from her breath was extremely strong. The group looked at her and sighed while shaking their heads. "Fine then, HA! I'll keep it all t'myself then!" Down the hatch it went.

Valera turned to Verrek with a big drunken smug grin on her face, "So when are ye going to pay up for losing yer bet?" Glancing over at Feng then back at Verrek she smiled some more and started to laugh. "I'd hate to have to feed ya t'Feng!"

Unfazed by Valera's tipsiness, Verrek smiled at her antics. When she brought up their bet he reached for his belt but paused when he thought he saw something behind the Valera's eyes while she looked at Feng.

The brow of Verrek's mortal shell furrowed for a split second. He quickly wiped all expression from his face as he reexamined the lantern on the beast's neck for a clue as to the viera's gaze.

The magic aura of the device was just as repellant as before, whisping tendrils calling him back to the realm of souls that had been his prison for millennia. He forced himself to put aside his repulsion and look for a pattern. The shade noticed one tendril that did not move.

Valera was laughing now about feeding him to Feng, a corner of Verrek's mind wondered if she knew how that would be a fate worse than death for him.

The shade followed the tendril until to his amazement it connected with the viera's own soul. She was bound to that wicked lantern! The shade recoiled back into himself. His body blinked.

"Ha, no need for drastic measures there, Val. I don't make a bet lest I already have enough to pay in the event of a loss. Here." He unfastened his belt and opened the inner lining to reveal his stash, double what he owed the viera. Verrek pulled the money from the belt's lining and handed what he owed to Val. Verrek noticed the looks from the others. "What?" He asked, re-buckling his belt. "As a pickpocket myself I know how to keep my money safe."

Verrek was careful not to look at Valera, he wondered if she had noticed his examination of the lantern.

Valera's eyes grew wide as Verrek paid up for losing the bet and race. She opened her jacket and put it away in a coin purse hidden within the lining.

"HAHA! PERFECT! Withis I cans drink all night!" Valera took a big swig from a freshly filled tankard of ale and raised the glass, it also seemed as if her words were starting to slurr together.

Valera may not have noticed Verrek eyeing up Feng's lantern, but the giant stone beast sure seemed to notice. As the pirate danced around with her drink in hand quite carefree and joyous, Feng sat there staring directly at Verrek. There wasn't much expression to the beast ever so it was hard to tell what it was thinking about.

A dark steely voice entered Verrek's mind, "I hunger... IT hungers..."

Valera suddenly crashed into Feng and ended up pouring half her stein of ale on him. The voice dissipated from Verrek's mind as Feng turned his attention to Valera and growled from being covered in ale. This was the first time ever someone other than Valera heard the creature's voice. "Haha sorry Feng! Ok! Ok! I just maaaaaaaaaay have had a weeeeeee bit too much. Can't blame me though y'big lout! Well... Maybe ye can. AH WELL!" Valera laughed on as she got on Feng's back. "Maybe it's best ye be m'legs fer now. I'm sure ye don't mind! Waz that? Hungry? Right now?" A one way conversation had started between her and Feng as the beast started to make its way out of the room with Valera on its back.

Since 'everyone' knew Feng never spoke they just believed that Valera was just having a drunk conversation to herself and was most likely retiring to her room.

"I hunger... IT hungers..."

At the sound of the metallic voice Verrek froze. A report cane to him that all the hair on his body was on end, but the shade was too dumbstruck to do anything about it.

Truth be told the shade had a bit of a cowardly streak to him. This came from the fact that he observed the world through a body, much like someone playing a holo-vid-game. However, when caught by surprise the shade would often backpedal or flee until he could see the whole of the situation and find a way to deal with it.

As it was, Verrek's whole being, shade and body alike, were now steeled to flee. He turned his head slowly toward the direction the mental voice had originated. His eyes met those of the stone beast, Feng.

Their eye contact was broken when Valera crashed into the beast and spilled ale all over it.

Verrek's body swayed a bit where he stood as within, the shade shuddered in relief. Thankfully the others were too distracted by the pirate and the Stone beast to notice Verrek's moment of weakness.

SilentOne glided down from the rafters and alighted on the Shade's shoulder like a shadow. Verrek unconsciously stroked the side of the bird's head with a long finger. The crow let it's pleasure waft through their telepathic connection, and Verrek felt himself calm.

He blinked, and brought himself back.

"Ahem, right. So Gift ideas then?"

Feng brought Valera back to her room where she proceeded to go through her things. Feng's voice never stopped repeating itself in her mind. "ALL RIGHT FENG! I HEAR YOU! YES YOU'RE HUNGRY! Give me a darn minute... While you're at it git out o'me head!"

She pulled out the book she received from Feng much earlier from her belongings and sighed dejectedly. Looking up at the beast from the pages of the book she questioned him, "How can ye be so hungry when there were so many things dying in the maze, did you not gather those to eat as we went?"

The lantern around his neck flickered as the giant stone beast lifted its paw and turned the pages in her book uncovering a new section.Scratching her head, the viera read on.

"Well I guess we better git going then..."

Grabbing a few things she got back atop Feng due to her legs still being a bit wobbly. "Pass by the others on our way out, have a thing or two t'give em for ideas."

With a low grunt from Feng he started a quick stride back towards the other members. On her way past the room where the remainder of The Chimeriad were still going over ideas, Valera threw 2 books at them. The books barely missed Elia's head as she nimbly dodged the books and went on to hit Krios. The pirates' voice could be heard trailing off as Feng continued to run down the hall, "Go ahead n' use those books fer a gift! Haha!" Followed by a brief "I'll be back sooooooooon!"

Looking down at the books that were now at Krios' feet, they were definitely something fitting coming from Valera:

[item=Drunk and Drunker: An Alcohol Safety Guide]

Krios shook his head. What a strange creature this Viera was! Yet charming, somehow, that has to be said! He looked around and riveted on Myra who beckoned to him.

"Krios, are you going to help me with the potion enchantment?" Myra asked, fiddling with her long silvery hair. The young maiden shifted from one foot to another, simultaneously wiping off the dust from her robe. Shimmershadow tossed his mane and nudged her hand for reassurance.

"Sure thing, yet why are you that nervous, segotia?" Krios inquired, looking bored. "We have done this before quite splendid, if I may say so. No great deal for an inspired mage like me and regarding your work - okay, you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear yet you have done nice work lately, too!" he praised and kicked some pebbles on the ground to an exasperated outcry from Myra.

The extravagance! Krios deliberated. Back then in my world, I was a spoiled and highly esteemed personage, too, the young mage mused. All the humdrum rituals to implement, the bland courtly encounters, the social restraints and superficialities. He was so fed up with all that nonsense! Because of all the flummadiddle, he left in the first place. Later, he found that this flouting means he finally got space to outgrow himself and so everything went well in the end. Perhaps Delgar felt the same? What did His Highness really think about all that fuss and hero worship? Maybe they were kindred spirits!

With newfound energy, Krios spread a wide grin and swished his cloak. "Sunshine! Let´s make something very special for this homeboy! Something which is really useful and not another piece of jewelry or clothing he already has a kistful of back home!". With that, Rhea and Kronos began to chirp in chime, a sound never heard before. Were they... kind of happy?

Myra was hooked immediately. She knew Krios didn´t understand how she felt, having to met so many new beings in such a short time and now also such an important king-to-be. The alchemist had no problems with animals and dealt with all kind of situations concerning them quiet easily, yet dealing with so many new people was a whole new ball game. Myra knew she looked always relaxed and it was said she had a soothing effect on all kind of patients even humans, elves and dwarves yet inside, she wasn´t that composed all the time.

Carpe diem, she thought, step by step, I´ll find my own way in my own time. Now, however, up to taking the opportunity! Whenever Krios was on fire, he had brilliant ideas - which needed kind of guiding sometimes, yet be that as it may! She dropped her musings and began to swap ideas with Krios for a potent healing potion, perhaps hidden in some kind of secret receptacle nobody would expect an important remedy in. Since she had thought about it a lot, the potion was made quickly and covertly. The most potent ingredient was a tear from Shimmershadow which was mixed ana partes aequales with moon-kissed water. In there also went precious grounded white Moonstone and Rainbow Jasper and an ounce of rare turquoise Larimar. Moonstone was the stone of Selene, the moon goddess, and as ancient as the moon itself, moonstone held a lot of healing power and provided psychic protection. The Jaspe

A Dance for Delgar The Midnight Dancers anxiously await their audience with Prince Delgar. Each carries a wrapped gift. Finally, they are led forward, and they arrange themselves in a line before him.

Stepping forward, Ayla gives a humble bow, then, winking, hands Delgar a gift bag. She says, “D is how Delighted we are to see that you've returned; We present you with this Red Sunscreen to keep you from sunburn.” [item2=Red Sunscreen]

The courtiers and observers look at each other in confusion, scratching their heads and shrugging their shoulders.

Ayla yields the floor to Kaiidth, who brings a gift from behind her back. Handing it over, she rubs her hands together, and states, “E is for our Eagerness to see your smile again; Have some tangy orange ice cream, and share it with a friend.” [item2=Deliciously Cold Orange Ice Cream]

The crowd begins to mutter.

Next to approach is Amaryllis, who produces a very small box from inside her sleeve. She says, “L is for how Long we've searched for our Seelie prince, we present A Fairy Golden Ring that has long awaited your ascent.” [item2=Fairy Golden Ring]

Finally, a gift that makes sense! the observers think.

Visibly nervous, Lara takes a deep breath, steps forward, and trips. The gift flies into Delgar’s lap. Lara looks terrified, then Delgar smiles, and she is relieved enough to rapidly say, “G is for how Glad we are to hear you're safe and sound, Please put on this party hat and dance like no one's around.” [item2=2013 Furry Green Party Hat]

A collective gasp is heard, and looks of shock run through those in attendance.

Nightshade, sneer firmly in place, strides up and thrusts a small box towards Delgar, stating, “A is for your Appetite, with sweets you must be cautious. The cuteness of this cupcake is enough to make me nauseous.” [item2=Adorable Blueberry Vesnali Cupcake]

The crowd is displaying evidence of discomfort; they don’t know how to react.

With an impish smile, Ayla approaches once again and says, “R is for the Regal air we’ve missed since you’ve been gone. We hope you like this Royal Elvish Headpiece, try it on!” [item2=Royal Elvish Headpiece]

Heads shake, what kind of nonsense is this?!

Phineas steps forth in a grand manner, sweeps a bow, and offers a delicate stem to Delgar. As Delgar accepts it, Phineas flamboyantly removes the cloth covering, and intones, “Our final gift is a libation sweet, we present this champagne flute All raise a toast to your return, your presence we salute!” [item2=Blueberry Sparkling Celebration Champagne Flute]

The court is riveted, wondering what could possibly come next.

Rejoining the line, Phineas give a small nod, and all six team members say, in unison, “Perhaps you caught the pattern to our list of items seven, But, maybe not, so here’s a hint: they form a bridge to heaven.”

Once again, looks of confusion throughout the room. Then, seeing the gifts together at last, some understand, and smile as they whisper explanations to those around them. Chuckles and scattered applause break out as the Dancers bow, first to Delgar, then the crowd, before retaking their seats.

The Foggiest Notions’ Welcome Delgar with Gifts from Hearth and Heart The Foggiest Notions were excited to help in welcoming back Prince Delgar by putting together a selection of gifts that they deemed fitting. These seven items were a mix of things that reminded them of home as well as being helpful in defeating the Unseelie forces.

Two of the items were meant to remind Delgar of his home in the Seelie lands while the other five each represented each member of the group.

All together they stepped forward to present Delgar with two gifts they hoped he would enjoy for personal reasons. First they presented him with the [item2=Enchanted Sword of the Vanguard] It was a remarkable sword fit for royalty, with an enchantment that was sure to grant Prince Delgar strength in his time of need.

Second they presented him the [item2=Essence of the Emerald Isle] Which they hoped would remind him of his homeland. It was full of scents and colors that would bring comfort and joy to anyone, especially someone from the Seelie lands.

Then one by one, they each stepped forward again, presenting Delgar with gifts that they hoped he would appreciate. They were gifts of great importance to them, reminding each of them of their homelands.

Turf was first to approach Delgar and offer his gift of Cactus Berries. They were, after all, his favorite food and he had a ton of them in his pockets and pouches. He grabbed a handful of them, handing them to Delgar, “I hope you enjoy these as much as I do your highness, they are Cactus Berries from my homeland…” but before he could finish his presentation the voice of Eurus answered to the magic words.

“My dear boy, how can I be of assistance? And make it snappy, Evangelista and I are hot on the trail of her robbers and about to ambush them.”

Turf looked embarrassed and replied, “Oh, fiddlesticks… I had almost forgot about this magical arm thing-a-ma-jig.” He sighed heavily and continued, “Sorry to bother you Eurus. I was just sharing my cactus berries with a friend.”

“Well as much as I hate being bothered for no reason, I am glad to hear that you had almost forgot about the means of contacting me. That means you must be handling your magic very well. Take care my dear boy,” and with that the connection was severed.

“Sorry your highness. As I was saying, these [item2=Cactus Apple] we’ll call them for the sake of not bugging Eurus again, are my favorite food and I hope you enjoy them immensely. They are a great snack and best served raw. May they bring flavors to your taste buds that you had not had the pleasure of tasting before.”

“Oh, I almost forgot your Highness… my comrade Max could not be with us to present these gifts to you,” added Turf, “Max sends his regards as well as this [item2=Belted Glass Drinking Flask] It is filled to the brim with his favorite liquor. Please enjoy,” Turf bowed and stepped back in line with his friends.

When it came time for Fern to give her gift she found herself feeling a bit shy, needing a gentle nudge forward from her sister and she quickly bowed her head in respect.

"Your highness." She addressed with a nervous smile, "My earliest memories are of my time growing up in the great wood that lies north of my village... and while the memories are lonely ones, I have always felt most at home surrounded by trees as far as the eye can see."

She held out her hands, presenting to him a [item2=Charm of the Forest] "I offer you this small keepsake... I've kept it close for many years and when I look at it I'm always brought back to that beautiful forest. It's thought to be blessed and I hope that it brings you great fortune and happiness."

Ravensong had been unsure of what to give Delgar as she felt most of her belongings would not be of use to the prince, and while the gifts that had been given were something that carried the feeling of home, all of them were the homes of her friends, not his.

As she stood watching her friends approach him, each in turn, she found herself humming a melody and the thought of the perfect gift she alone could give came to her and she quickly dug through her pack for her music sheets and quill, having trouble keeping up with the song that was flowing through her as she wrote the notes upon the page.

Sprinkling sand over the ink to aid in the drying process she placed the music safely in a frame and walked to where the prince stood, "Your Highness, of all the things that bring me peace when I am homesick, I've found the most comfort in a song, so I would like you to have this song of your very own. I hope it brings you comfort and peace in times of need."

Handing him the [item2=Framed Piece of Music] she then bowed low before stepping back slowly, pulled out her violin, and began to play the song she had written.

Armina stood back as she watched the rest of the Foggiest Notions present Delgar with their carefully selected gifts. She was nervous as she had nothing to give. Coming from a poor family she had very little herself and material things were not a luxury they could afford.

A large tear escaped the corner of her eye and dropped upon her satchel. Odin, wondering why the sudden change in weather poked his head out. The sky above was bluer than blue, not a cloud in the sky. He looked at the warrior, quickly realizing her sadness. He wasn't quite sure of the origin of her sorrow but after observing the ceremonies ensuing he had a good idea what it was.

The small dragon leaped from the bag, landing firmly upon Armina's shoulder. He bent his tiny head, took the string of the warrior’s necklace in his mouth and began to tug gently. “Stop Od.....” she started to say and then it hit her.... the [item2=Grassland Warrior Necklace] her father had given her! “You're a genius my friend”, Armina said patting her companion and just in time too as had finished playing her song to the Prince.

The warrior smiled and bowed as she greeted Delgar, “It is a great honor to meet you, your Highness,” she straightened herself and carefully removed the necklace from around her neck. “Please accept this special gift, it was given to me long ago by my father and now I wish to give it to you. It grants it's wearer great courage, not that I don't think you are already courageous, but should you ever find yourself separated from your family again, this necklace will help you gather the courage you need to find your way home.”

With this final gift, the Foggiest Notions stepped back from the prince and bowed a deep bow. Each of them thought about the gift they had given, remembering fond memories associated with them. Some of them smiled, some of them became weary eyed, and one of them munched on some cactus berries.

What do you give a thought you were dead but you're not heir to the throne!!?

Back in the reassuring familiarity of the Wayward Squirrel the Fallen Angels gathered around their usual table. Mulling over the last puzzle they had been challenged to figure out, Laurie absent mindedly gnawed on the end of her trusty No.2 and pointing at the rebus said "This one's domino but if we change DOM to DEL do you think we could get some answers about the portal out there?" "No kidding," Jeice replied, pointing to another picture she said "That one's broken promise. Even though we suspected Prince Delgar wasn't dead and Kelian could be Caniel, that re-appearing act was impressive." "True said from the very beginning he was too pretty to be human," Calie said as she pointed at the puzzle, "and that's cry-in-shame, crying shame." Talli chimed in saying, "If we hadn't just been in the fight of our lives I would call the whole thing 'too funny for words'." and pointed to the picture she was answering. The others giggled. Webby's eyes lit up as she figured out another answer and while pointing to the image said "Hole in one, and you got that right, Jeice, but.. now what do we do?"

"Go for it." The five of them stared at Atrueheart in shock as she returned to the table with a fresh round of coffees and teas for everyone. Atrueheart smirked and pointed to the rebus. "That one is go for it." Her smirk caused a giggle that caused laughing that spread through the entire group. Pulling themselves together, their hearts feeling the relief a good laugh brings they finished the rebus so they could get down to the real puzzle at hand. What do you give a back from the dead Crown Prince of the Seelie, a realm and royal you literally know nothing about?

While suggestions ranging from cookies and cake to a mythril plated tie clip with matching cuff links echoed around her it soon became obvious to Atrueheart that this was not going to be as easy as she'd hoped. The only thing her team could agree on was a fruit basket. Catching the attention of her lost in thought warrior she motioned for Laurie to join her as she drifted a little further from the rest of the group. "Do you have anything in your closet library that can help narrow things down Laurie? Anything at all?" As her mind raced through everything she had upstairs Laurie shook her head. "The things we know about the Seelie Court we learned together. We are six unique Angels that form one amazing team. Something I think is perfect Webby would be bored to tears with, Jeice would try using as fire tinder, Talli and Calie would understand but consider a little irrelevant and you would already know." Atrueheart gave Laurie an odd look, "Say that again." "Um... what I think is...” "No, before that" she quipped, cutting Laurie off mid-sentence. "We're six different people?"

"Yes, that! THATS IT!" Atrueheart exclaimed. The others stopped arguing and looked in her direction, surprised to see Laurie with a questioning look on her face and True beaming triumphantly. "The Fallen Angels. Six unique individuals that form one amazing team. Anyone care to take a guess at what six plus one equals?" Webby started to speak but was cut off mid-breath by Jeice proclaiming "The perfect gift, that's what it equals!" "Precisely." Atrueheart replied. "Time to start at the beginning Angels. The Faerie Glider slated to deliver our package isn't leaving until morning. Plenty of time for y'all to find what you think is a gift fit for a prince. We'll meet back in my suite in .. lets say two hours." With renewed excitement in their voices the Fallen Angels eagerly agreed and vanished to their quarters in search of their perfect gift.

[spoiler=The Fallen Angels with gifts fit for a (future) king]

..........

Disclaimer: Mannequins wig and trousers are not part of our gift package

Atrueheart quickly located Jayne, her male dress form and put it together beside her desk. After placing a wig atop it's head she couldn't help but laugh. I suppose for modesty's sake some trousers are in order she mused, and dug out a pair of rreign trainers.

Before searching her closet she fished a tiny key out from a place we wont mention. Taking a lock box from the back of the closet and unlocking it, she became misty-eyed as she removed it's contents - a package wrapped in wafer-thin rice paper slightly yellow with age. Her fingers deftly unfolding the brittle wrappings she murmured softly, "You're as breath-taking now as the day you were placed in my care", and waited for her team to arrive.

The Fallen Angels gathered in Atruehearts suite, each holding a fetching gift box. "Who wants to go first?" Atrueheart asked. "I nominate you," Calie said with a smile. "You knew exactly what you're giving him, and I would love to see what item in all of your travels is behind such a quick decision." As the others chimed in Atrueheart laughed and said "Looks like I'll start then!"

Her team watching closely True reminded them once more it was ok to look but don't touch before placing a Golden Feathered Cloak Piece on the dress form. In a fluid like motion the delicate fabric cascaded downward, slowly unfurling as if it were swaying in a warm summer breeze, the tiny bits of gold woven throughout its exquisite design capturing rays of the sun and reflecting them all around the room in soft glimmering streaks creating the illusion of tiny sprites dancing across the ceiling and down the wall.

Webby swooned. Laurie, Talli and Calie stared in amazement and Jeice gave a low whistle. Speaking in a reverent tone, Atrueheart's words broke the silence, her tale unfolding as gracefully as the shimmering cloak. "This is called a Golden Feathered Cloak Piece. It's made from the finest silk in all of Saherimos, soft marabou puffs shaped into it's feathery collar and a secret measure of pure gold said to be able to capture the strength of the sun. The threads are woven by the hands of two weavers chosen by the most noble men in the village."

Atrueheart took a moment to drink in the otherworldly display before continuing:

"Each cloak is unique. No one knows what it will look like until the gold is completely absorbed by the threads as the weavers create designs only they can see. The most intriguing part of such a splendid piece comes once it is completed. No one, not even the weavers who created it know what it looks like because when the gold is gone, it's wrapped in a rice paper where it remains until someone is deemed worthy of such an exquisite creation."

"There's no way to know for certain if this was meant to be gifted to Prince Delgar. When it was shown to me the words to describe it's creation without revealing how it was created were all that was said. When presented to me it was made clear that it was not a gift, it was a delivery to be given to an unknown being in an unknown place at an unknown time." Atrueheart's voice began to fade. "I had given up hope that day would ever come, I have no words that can express how it feels to know it's finally here."

...

Consumed by curiosity, Laurie wanted a closer look at Atruehearts gift so badly she felt as if she was going to burst. Thinking quickly her hand shot up in the air as she called for a vote. Jeice elbowed her playfully in the ribs "Nice diversion" and raised her hand along with the rest of the Fallen Angels. "If we promise to leave it alone, can it stay on the mannequin while we vote on the rest?" Webby pleaded giving Laurie an idea..

"I'll go next," Laurie volunteered, removing a thick weathered journal from her pack. "HA! I knew it!" Jeice exclaimed, "Pay up Webby!" The room erupted in laughter, Laurie included. "Whatever Jeice!" she replied with a grin, tucking her trusty No.2 behind her ear "At least I can read!" "Touché" Jeice replied with a mock bow and the room fell silent as Laurie stood in front of her friends, her shy demeanor melting away as she began to speak.

...

"Yes, I chose a book as my gift, shocker I know. Why this particular book? I'll tell you.." Showing the group a few pages she had bookmarked earlier, Laurie continued. "While we can rest assured as future heir to the throne, Prince Delgar's council of advisors will inform and educate him in detail about their beliefs and their ways. Sadly that's where it ends. But what about what lies beyond the realm of Fae? The other worlds, realms and galaxies, some beyond the wildest of imaginations? Why should his knowledge and understanding of the what lies beyond his kingdom be an empty slate? Other worlds exist and my gift will introduce them to his Highness in minute detail."

Laurie handed the journal to Atrueheart for the team to inspect while she elaborated on that statement.

"If 'Knowledge is power' and 'History has a way of repeating itself' are ideals to be taken seriously, and I believe they are, the same can be said about one of my own. A good leader is one who's knowledge and understanding encompass all that surround him but a great leader is one who's knowledge is submerged in understanding that what lies beyond the castle walls is just as important as what lies within."

"Give a great leader a way to expand his knowledge and help him understand these other realms, these other worlds, an archive if you will, containing sketches and detailed information about various customs, beliefs, traditions and legends.. you're giving him the opportunity to explore information and details gathered over lifetimes, to reflect on them, improve on them, perhaps even make them his own."

Realizing she was about two seconds away from full blown book-worm hysteria Laurie's cheeks began to redden.

"My gift to Prince Delgar, the Wildman Photo Album is a journal containing all this and more. Why I believe there's even a chapter dedicated to the adventures of a group of protectors of the Wayward Squirrel," she said with a smile, "To remind his Highness that one such group residing far beyond the Seelie realm were willing to risk it all to help complete strangers and bring the Crown Prince of the Seelie home."

...

"Wait, there's what?" Webbie asked, "That's not possible, it just happened!" "Oh, it's possible, alright," Laurie replied. "I never said it was a published journal." True laughed and called for a vote, and Laurie, seeing all hands raised took the opportunity to attempt to add another interesting discover to the pages of her back-up copy she kept just in case. She reached for the journal and Atrueheart winked and shook her head. "Nice try, but I'll take care of it." and placed the Wildman Photo Album in its gift box on the table.

A sheepish look crosses her face as Laurie shrugged. "Cant blame a girl for trying," she joked and made herself comfortable next to Talli. "So.. who's next?" "That would be me," Jeice called out, retrieving her gift from it's box behind her and strolling to the front of the group. Intrigued, Jeice had their undivided attention without saying a word.

...

Twirling the odd looking bow, she smiled as the cloak rippled ever so slightly, it's shimmering reflections dancing across the room. Bewildered by the display, Webby asked "You don't invoke magic, Rangers can't invoke magic, how are you doing that!?"

"It's not me, Webby. It's the bow." A look of shock crossed the faces of every Fallen Angel in the room. Laurie opened her mouth and closed it just as fast. She and Jeice were the best of friends and she knew that whatever Jeice said, no matter how off the wall it seemed, it was the truth.

Jeice flashed a wry grin her direction and began to speak. "A few weeks before I received Laurie's letter, Torchy and I headed into the woods like we always do. I had restrung my bow the day before and was looking forward to testing it's draw. A few hours in to it I felt a tingle graze the back of my neck and I climbed into the trees so I could feel what the forest was trying to tell me." Her brow furrowed, Jeice continued her story. "It didn't say anything. That's never happened before, I am one with the trees, I didn't know what to make of it."

"Making my way back down I noticed antlers at the base of the tree. They weren't there earlier, it wasn't rutting season so I dropped to the ground and there he was, one of the swiftest bucks in the forest. He bowed my direction. I bowed in return and quickly headed for home, antlers and dragon in tow."

Gazing at the bow in her hands, Jeice smiled. "I hate to admit it but I had no idea what to do with the antlers he had left for me. It was Torchy who pushed them on top of each other. Looking back, I don't know how I missed it. They were for a bow. That doesn't happen overnight," Jeice stated matter-of-factly. "The antlers are submerged in coconut milk where they soak for 10 days, every morning and night they're coated in coconut oil for flexibility then you bind them loosely and let them dry in the sun. When they're completely dry they're bound together with sinew for added strength and it's not until then that you can say out loud you've got yourself a bow." With a snort Jeice grinned, "A bow that clearly was not meant for me. I've never used it. Oh I tried a few times but it didn't feel right. It wasn't until we were told we needed to find something worthy of the return of the Prince that I understood what happened that day. My job to craft them into something strong and swift," nodding as the final confirmations came together inside her mind, she continued, handing her bow to True, "your job is to gift it to the man they were intended for all along."

Looking at her fellow team mates she made it official, "My gift to Prince Delgar is the Antlered Bow, handcrafted from the majestic antlers of the swiftest buck in the forest into a gift to he who will wield them with the same air of pride and nobility."

...

Webby and Calie burst into a round of applause and Talli said with a smile, "Do we even need to vote?" The clapping ceased as everyone's hand shot into the air. "Not really," Atrueheart said, "but we do like to appear diplomatic." Jeice tossed her hair aside with a laugh, eyeing the remaining three Fallen Angels who hadn't had their turn in the middle of the ring and said "Webby you ready?"

...

Webby looked around at the other gifts and bit her lip. "My turn?" she asked hesitantly, "I'm not sure I can talk as much as you guys can." Suppressing the urge to laugh out loud, Atrueheart nods at her with an encouraging smile. Taking a deep breath Webby pulls a pair of sandals out of her pack. Jeice whistled in admiration and came closer to inspect the sandals. "Nice workmanship there Webby! Sturdy yet elegant." she exclaimed.

"Exactly Jeice! As a Prince of the Seelie Realm, Delgar will be leading the Seelie warriors and will need some sturdy footwear for those long marches!" She proposed. "And because he is a Prince he would also need it to be elegant for as we all know the Seelie are nothing but elegant! Besides... I wanted him to have something pretty to pick up his spirits. Shiny things always lift my spirits!"

Looking around for approval, Webby chewed on her lip nervously. Atrueheart reached over to give Webby a hug of encouragement, whispering "Just make it official hon." "Oh! Right! I almost forgot. My gift to Prince Delgar are Sorcerer Sandals.." hesitating Webby looked pleadingly at True who quickly got her off the hook. "Those are perfect Webby! Leave it to you to make sure that the Prince would be walking around in style!"

Laurie called for a vote and joined the other Fallen Angels as they stepped closer to Webby and murmured their agreement. Luthien picked up a sandal and whispered something over it. "They are truly Sorcerer Sandals now!"

...

Webby scrambles to get back to her seat and Atruehear

The Fellowship gives some gifts Firstly, that Lirien made, for an exile well knows how dear the taste of home can be after a long time away.

because Venom knows sometimes stealth is as important as strength.

because Quercus thinks it's best to be prepared.

because Spring says little of this can go a long way against spirits and Unseelie.

because Jean believes you should always know which way you're going -- and what's in your way!

because Cream feels it's the best way to show we're all in this together.

And lastly, , which needs no explanation ^.~

The way some people spell makes me wonder about their pronunciation. My CW shop, and my ping group

Misfits and Their Gifts Jenna gathers the Misfits around. "I'm happy that the prince has been found, but we need to find seven gifts! What can we possibly give for a gift that's fit for an heir to the throne?" Leaf smiled at his lovely bard, "Don't worry. Did you forget that I'm royalty too?" Jenna frowned. She tries to forget that very notion on purpose. "So what kinds of things should we get him, Leaf?" Juana inquired. "I can't afford jewels or fancy garb." Leaf chuckled, "Elves do not yearn for gems or expensive cloth. They love all things from nature." Anna gets an idea. She grabs her book of magic and flips through the pages. She finds the one she's looking for and studies the spell for a few minutes. Then turning to her friends she manipulates her hands while she chants the words. Suddenly a beautiful, aqua flame appears to float above her hands. Jilly gasps, "What is that Anna?" "It's an Ethereal Flame of Memory. It's a powerful spell that the prince could use since his return and he has some unfinished business." The Misfits nod at the impressive gift. Amdir pulls out an ornate bucket from her bag. She places it in front of the group to show them what's inside. "They are gold rose petals. I have been gathering them when I find them. On the bucket is an inscription in Elvish: Memory is where everyone lives, whether they want it or not; it's like a collection of places we keep returning to. If you ever feel that behind all memories there are traces of tears, may you be able to look outside and notice the gold rose petals among the dust. They are there for a reason: even the tiniest of them makes a difference. May you never give up hope and may your future be as bright as the light they shine." "Very nice! I think he will like that very much." Leaf nodded in approval. Jilly pulled out a picture frame. It wasn't just an ordinary frame though. "I made this frame during my studies of alchemy. I took some special metals and infused them with powders and crafted this. A warm, comforting feeling of hope enters your soul as you place your photo into the frame. You immediately realize your potential and that nothing in life is left up to fate." "I really like that Jilly!" Amdir said. The rest of the group nodded. Juana then pulls out something from her pack. "I don't think it's much, but maybe he would like this." It was a beautiful picture of the moon. "I took this last summer and have been carrying it around with me. It gives me hope when I'm feeling down. Perhaps it would help our friend feel that hope as well." "I think it's a lovely gift Juana." Jenna smiled at her. Jenna then pulled out a little white dove. "I've had this with me, but never could seem to find a reason to wear it. I know that doves are a symbol of peace and hope, so perhaps this would be appropriate as a gift." Leaf then decided to show his gift. He made a high pitched trill and in the blink of an eye a little green minion appeared. It was a Lifesabe. "I believe that since the prince was presumed dead that this Lifesabe would be a fitting gift because they represent all that is living and well." Everyone was excited with all the gifts. "Wait a second!" Jenna cried, "We only have six gifts and we're expected to bring seven." Juana blushed. "I might have something to add, but you can't laugh at me." Leaf raised an eyebrow, he could hardly imagine what the warrior had in her bag. "I hope it's not your smelly socks!" Juana's face turned deeper red. "How did you guess?" "What? You really think the prince wants your socks?" Amdir laughed. "Well it's not exactly my socks! Here." She pulled out a little blue sock that had button eyes and black ears. Anna stifled a giggle, "What on earth is that?" "It's a Sockimi Plushie." Juana said matter of factly. "And the prince would like this.... why?" Asked Leaf. "Well, sometimes, a left sock will embark off onto a frightful and mysterious quest through the portal in your dryer. Usually you'll never see that sock again, but sometimes... sometimes they make it back alive, even if they have been changed from when you last saw them. ...But at least this plushie is a lot more cuddly and smells better than when you tried to wear it on your foot. So I figure the prince could relate to this poor plushie since it's pretty much been through the same thing as he's been." Juana explained. "Well since you put it that way, it makes more sense" reasoned Anna. Jilly rolled her eyes. "Does anyone have a better gift?" Everyone dug through their packs and came up with nothing. "Well, I guess that's gonna be it then." Said Jenna. "Let's put them together and present our gifts!" [item2=Ethereal Flame of Memory] [item2=Bucket of Gold Rose Petals] [item2=Picture Frame of Hope] [item2=Memento of Moonlight] [item2=Charming Dove Fascinator] [item2=Lifesabe] [item2=Sockimi Plushie] (In case you didn't see it, our theme was about returning from a dark place and holding onto hope)

Nightowls give what they value most
Quote by Aria
Aria walked up to the group of people gathered all around. ‘I don’t feel very comfortable in this place, we are so vulnerable,’ Aria mind spoke to Dax.</p>
<p>Dax perked up his ears and looked around intently, scanning for trouble. ‘I don’t sense anything,’ he commented while looking back up at Aria. ‘I’m sure that the Prince is safe enough here, look at all the warriors that surround him - including us!’ Dax continued using mental images to point out several individuals who Aria recognized.</p>
<p>‘I know I shouldn’t worry,’ Aria mumbled softly letting her mind voice fade off as she took in the dazzling spectacle of the two Princes being fawned over. ‘The relief is almost palpable, now that Prince Caniel has been found and Prince Delgar is not dead.’ Aria noted as she continued to look around for any suspicious characters.</p>
<p>The Prof, Vixen, Mal and the other members of Aria’s team were already pressing in closer to the Princes, leaving Aria standing alone on the outside of the throng. Dax yipped softly at Aria, who had come to a full halt while scanning the group, ‘Hurry up!’ he said in mock humor, ‘you don’t want to miss your chance at meeting the lovely Princes.’</p>
<p>‘Maybe one of them will offer to end the party early!’ Aria quipped with a smile. Dax rolled his eyes and continued forward with Aria in tow, meeting up with the rest of the team.</p>
<p>Aria pressed in close enough so she could hear what was being said but didn’t pay much attention. She pulled her ring off of her finger and looked at it as it began to shine and glow brilliant pink. “Thank you,” Aria whispered sadly to the ring as she placed in back on her finger one last time.</p>
<p>When it was her teams turn to present gifts, Aria felt herself being shoved forward, closer to Prince Delgar and Prince Caniel. “It’s your turn,” came a hushed whisper from Angelica, along with another prodding from behind, “don’t be rude!”</p>
<p>Dax and Aria stepped forward almost simultaneously. “Prince Caneil, Prince Delgar,” Aria said with a deep bow. “I would like to bestow upon you, Prince Delgar, a gift that few ever can lay claim to.” Aria pulled off her small glowing ring and held it up in her fingers.

“Where I come from, my people believe there is no greater hero than one who dies for a valiant cause. We also place high value on those who risk their lives for others and come back alive. The one who risks their life to help others is rewarded with a Stardust Talisman that can only be created by gathering stardust from our central star, Sentai. Once the stardust has been gathered it must be taken back to our ancestral lands and forged by one of our clan mages. This ring that I present you with is the talisman that I received when I gained my first encounter with our greedy friend, Death.” Aria looked into Prince Delgar’s eyes and continued with a very somber tone. “I give you my talisman as an added blessing to you, as it is believed that when such a gift is given the spirit of friendship and luck will follow you, so long as you always remain brave and honorable.”</p>
<p>Aria looked up as thought she was going to cease speaking but continued on. “The talisman is very sacred and will renew your strength and life energy whenever you whisper its name.” Aria looked at Prince Delgar apprehensively, “I must ask your permission to approach your royal Highness and whisper the talismans name in your ear, for no one should know the name except she, or he, who bears it.”</p>
<p>Prince Delgar nodded and leaned down to Aria’s height, allowing her to whisper the name of her talisman in his ear. Stepping back Aria continued, “It should be noted that with each use the ring will grow hot and stay that way until it has regenerated itself, so use it wisely.” Aria watched Prince Delgar as he examined the ring and put it on his finger. He looked up in surprise as the ring had changed size to fit his finger perfectly, while sending a tingle through his entire body. Knowing what he had just experienced, Aria smiled and nodded at the Prince.</p>
<p>Prince Delgar graciously accepted the gift, noting how much this gift meant to Aria. “I’ll treasure it always, young warrior,” he finished with a half bow.</p>
<p>Aria was confused as to why he would bow or even be so kind to her, but didn’t let it show on her face as she stepped back in with the rest of her group.</p>
<p>‘Now we just have to finish the rest of the night and hope we don’t encounter any bad trouble before I can get a new ring forged!’ Aria said to Dax.</p>
<p>‘Maybe this time you’ll tell me the name of that ring too,’ Dax said with a wink.

Quote by Brynna
Well shit! When Delgar came walking out and Kelian/Caniel hugged him tight, I just about lost my cool again! Bad enough that I had fractured mid-battle in front of my team once, but if they saw me sobbing again now, well, I&;d never live it down. So, I quickly dashed the few tears that had escaped onto my cheeks off and grabbed Angelica muttering something about heading back to The Squirrel.
A small celebration was already being planned for Delgar&;s miraculous return and gifts were to be given. My friends discussed what each of us should give the Prince over drinks. I nearly choked to death when someone jokingly suggested that Angelica should give him one of her parasols with a note that said &quot;surprisingly effective&quot;. I tossed around a couple of ideas, but I already knew in my heart what I was going to give him.
The festivities began and the Protectors each approached Delgar with their gifts and words of welcome back to his rightful place. Each of my friends and teammates had already presented their chosen gifts (which were surprising and very cool!)and it was my turn. I approached the two Princes repeating &quot;do not cry. do not cry&quot; in my head. I cleared my throat, reached behind my neck and unclasped my necklace. I felt naked without it.
&quot;Prince Delgar, I know my gift may seem strange, but please let me explain.&quot; I said as I held the out towards him. &quot; My sister gave me this necklace shortly before she died. She was young and beautiful and full of so much promise, but she was taken away from us. I have worn this necklace every day since her death as a reminder of her loss and of her. She will never be returned to her kingdom.&quot; I paused for a deep breath and dropped the necklace into his hand.
&quot;Your brother loves you so deeply that he risked his life repeatedly trying to find you and I am hoping that each time you see this necklace it will remind you of that love and dedication to family. I want it to change from a symbol of loss to a symbol of hope that miracles happen, a sibling&;s love knows no bounds and that there is still joy to be found in the world. The last few weeks have opened old wounds for me, but seeing the joy on Caniel&;s face when he saw you alive and well, soothed those wounds. Thank you for that. Please accept this small token and let it become a good thing again.&quot;</p>
<p>I walked away before the sob building in my chest could escape and cursed the fact that I was shaking like a leaf, but at the same time, I felt a sense of elation. I didn&;t need the necklace anymore. Lilliana would always be in my heart, but her death no longer weighed so heavily on me. Giving Delgar the necklace had been a gift for me too.

Quote by Cali
Cali watches as her team presents their gifts, a wide dreamy grin plastered across her freckled face until she realizes that it&;s now her turn. &quot;Nooo, he&;s too gorgeous! I can&;t do it. Someone else can giv-&quot; Vixen and the Professor exchange a knowing look and together they shove her forward to stand in front of the newly rescued prince.</p>
<p>Cali scuffs her bare toes in the dirt (wherever did her shoes go this time?) and doesn&;t quite look straight at the prince as she shyly holds out what looks like an acorn on a string.</p>
<p></p>
<p>&quot;I know it&;s not much, but this is the first nut I found all on my own. I may have gnawed on it once or twice so there might be a few toothmarks, but I promise it&;s still good to hold and just make you feel better. Or at least that&;s what I usually use it for. Sometimes it&;s good to have something to hold and make you feel less lonely or sad.&quot; She shrugs. &quot;I don&;t know what you&;ve been through, but I figure some extra comfort is always a good thing. And if you don&;t need it for that then it can still make a tasty snack!&quot; she finishes with a grin, and skips back to the group.

[Quote=Mal]The Prince wasn't quite what Mal expected. He had more of a demure presence but still radiated confidence.

"Your highness, my name is Mal. I'm an aeronaut and ship captain. In my line of work I've had to deal with many stressful situations. I've learned how important it is to stay grounded and find a place for yourself somewhere where you can be calm, alone, and find yourself again."

Mal hands the prince .

"This token is of an anchor. Anchors keep our ships steady and in one place, no matter how hard the ocean or winds pull and tug and try to lead you astray. I hope that one day you find your anchor.. Or maybe you already have. Either way, I hope that when you look at this that you remember that place or person that keeps you anchored, and that you find time to be calm and peaceful no matter how frantic the storms may rage around you." [/quote]

Quote by Vixen
Your Highness may I give you a gift to commemorate this happy meeting?
This is the skull of a Lost Man and I give it to a man who has been found as a token of celebration of this happy meeting. </p>
<p>I have added a little charm to it for you. If you are ever feeling like a &;Lost Man&; again, you can gaze into the skull&;s eye sockets and you will be able to see your own home no matter where you are, or how bad the circumstances. I hope you enjoy it in good health and for a long life.

Quote by Angelica
I waited patiently as the others gave their respective gifts to the Crown Prince of the Seelie, unable to help but feel a little nervous. I had qualms about whether my gift was worthy of royalty but when I saw the trinkets my companions had given him and his reaction to them, I felt a little better. Even I got a little teary-eyed as Brynna explained the significance of her gift. When it was finally my turn, I took a deep breath and stepped towards Delgar, giving him my best curtsy.</p>
<p>&quot;Your highness, I&;d like to present you one of my most valued possessions. It would honour me greatly if you could accept this.&quot;</p>
<p></p>
<p>&quot;It is the first piece of jewellery I ever bought for myself, right when I was starting out as a singer. It has been with me through good and bad times but what makes it extra special is that I was wearing it the day this adventure started. I may not have voluntarily gone on this journey but at this moment, I am proud to be a part of it and witness this momentous occasion.&quot;

Quote by The Prof
Although I am a poor man, my maman give me some raising, cheres. I know to let go first all the ladies. Also, I can copy their better manners. All the ladies speak so fair and fancy, and they all make a little gesture before they approach His Highness. I am careful to watch so I can them copy, oui chere?</p>
<p>When it is my turn I make the funny bob the ladies make and I offer my gift comme ca:</p>
<p>May I present this trinket to Your Highness, chere?
</p>
<p>To my people, the image of the Serpenth of Rainbow is very holy, chere. We name him Damballah ou Damballah-Wedo. But that is not important for here and now, just a memory.</p>
<p>What him teaches us, chere, is that all people stand equal upon the Earth in his place, your Highness.</p>
<p>Many people and many animals came together to find you, and each took great risque...non, that is not it...great RISK oui. From Royal blood to a tiny ant, each valued your life and the hope of peace to seek and fight.</p>
<p>Perhaps this may help you in a better future to lead bravely and justly by remembering the peace and joy of the day of your reunion of all of these persons and animaux.</p>
<p>Not bad for a poor man from a poor land-right? Ah, non. Le Mot de Cambronne. It dawns on me now...as a man I am supposed to BOW! Merde! My face is burning and I can not look in the eyes the ladies. I have embarrassed them et moi. Zut. Zut. Zut.</p>
<p>Maintenent I would prefer it be possible to actually die of the embarrassed.

SILVER LEGENDS Can't Help themselves Having made it out of the maze surprisingly alive, the Silver Legends rejoice.

"I can't believe the luck you guys have," Gryffindor remarks.

Witchy finally waking up, still tied to TerrenaAnimula's back, "What party did I miss? Must have been one good one to end up tied to someone." She smiles and thinks "wish I was tied to some young hot stud than Terrena tho."

"You are cut off," Fresh says looking at her. "A few small puffs here and there, but no more puff, puff, puffing someone's house down."

"And you missed and since you were passed out," Lovecraft says to her.

Grabbing up to the chain and stone around her neck, Witchy smiles. "I have Tea with me all the time. And why does my neck hurt?" The others look around at everything and anything except at Witchy.

"Would someone PLEASE untie Witchy from me," Terrena says. "I think she is fine now. AND she is getting a little to familiar now."

Lovecraft yanks out one of her swords and slices the ropes. "There you go."

Witchy cuddles onto Terrena, "But we were getting so close," and starts to laugh.

Yawning Fresh says, "With all this excitement, and being up for almost 24 hours watching you guys, I'm tired." With that he falls into a little ball and starts to snore.

Walking over to where Fresh lays, Lovecraft kicks him with her boot. "Well girls," she grins widely to the other Legends, "Time to PARTY!"

"PARTY!!!!" TerrenaAnimula yells finally getting out of Witchy's grasp and starts to dance around.

"You guys are NUTS!" Gryffindor smiles, but joins in dancing.

After some much needed blowing off steam and dressing Fresh in a dress, they settle down as he slowly wakes up. "That was much needed," he says stretching. "Did I miss anything?" They start to giggle.

Composing herself fast, Lovecraft says, "Apparently we need to solve some puzzles and come up with some gifts for some guy who was thought to be dead, but is actually alive."

"I will work on the puzzles!" Gryffindor states, "I am getting the hang of those!"

Fresh grabs one up and starts scribbling some things down. "Anyone notice we haven't really needed to know math yet?"

"SHUT UP!" Terrena says to him and hits him in the shoulder.

"Math Math," Witchy nods her head back and forth, "It is simple until someone starts throwing all those numbers into it."

They all just stare at her, mouths open. They can't even come up with a good response to tell her.

"FINISHED ONE!" Gryffindor yells and slaps the sheet down on the ground.

"Me too," Fresh says. "Also, how did I end up in a dress?"

The girls just burst out laughing.

Clearing her throat, "So what gifts should we decide to give?" Terrena asks.

"I want to throw something mechanical or useful in," Gryffindor says.

"I got it!" Lovecraft says. "Everyone is going to be probably be giving doing air quotes Glad you aren't dead or You aren't a zombie gifts. Lets do what we do...Rainbow gifts!"

"GREAT!" Witchy starts to dig into her bag. "Okay I got me some Rainbow Powder and some Freshly Rolled Rainbow Herb."

"Ohhh!" TerrenaAnimula gasps. "I have a Rainbow Crow and a Spectrum Birdy with me."

Sniffling a little, "I guess I can share my Rainbow Box of Macarons and Happy Rainbow Cake."

"I have Spectrum Glass Windchime I made and a Rainbow Chelon Gem that I um..found. Yes I found it in my travels."

"And I have a Rainbow Attack Chair around here somewhere and a Rainbow Spork-O-Poking!"

"Oh and look what I found," Witchy says amused, "Must be from " She holds up a bottle of Spectrum Potion and a Bottled Rainbow.

"It says," looking at a card, "Five items for this gift basket," Fresh reads.

"A..." Lovecraft says, "When does Silver Legends ever follow directions."

"And what is B?" Gryffindor asks.

"There has to be a B?" Lovecraft responds.

"I think we should just toss it all in a basket for this guy," TerrenaAnimula says. "Share our wealth!"

"Plus its all cheap non CW items, we don't need," Witchy says.

Fresh gathers up all the items and puts them into a huge gift basket. "And an explanation on why we choose each item?" he asks arranging everything nicely.

"Isn't it obvious?" TerrenaAnimula asks.

"Even I get why those items," Gryffindor says.

"Just satisfy me with an answer," Fresh says.

"Put him in a dress and he becomes cranky!" Witchy giggles.

"Fine!" Lovecraft throws her hands up. "Witchy is sharing her rainbow stash of goodies. I am sharing my rainbow weapons, you your cake, Terrena is her nature items, gryffindor her items that she has again air quotes found on her travels and some how Tea managed to throw in some of the potions she has made. Granted I want to be no where near them when used."

"Perfect," Fresh says as he scribbles it all onto a card. "Was that so hard? Now excuse me while I take this dress off. Also, where did the candy and booze in the basket come from?"

"You really need to ask that," Witchy says.

"Only one Legend was a candy and drink lover," Terrena replies.

"Oh that's right," Fresh nods, "Flamingo!"

Gryffindor smiles happy that this part of the adventure did NOT put her in danger again.
