Before I begin, I should say my lil darling is already mounted :o) she swings happily overhead and is beautiful and green. I have the pleasure of being friends with a gal who makes wonderful pottery though and she also makes air plant holders!! If I were to buy one, how would I move my air plant from its current sea urchin shell to a small pot? Please ping me in your advice! Thank you xx
- I hope you don't mean pot, as one with soil. Air plants don't need any soil at all! But there are people like your friend who I have seen who make little vase like pots where you can snugly fit your guy.
I think you can just pluck him out of the seashell and put him in that pot. If he is glued down just take your time to gently remove him.
What kind of air plant do you have? I really don't know much about them, but I have three, lol. I bought one at a botanical gardens that sort of looks like a small pineapple with leaves sprouting out. Then I just bought two more last night at the local art fair that are more like the typical air plant - spiky, one's bright green and the other's green and fuschia.
This is what my first one looks like, although mine isn't old enough to have the red part on top yet. This one is 'planted' in a small metal hanging basket as part of a faerie garden I made.
no soil! Just a cute holder :o) It's shaped like an elephant. I don't think my plant is glued down, but I'm worried about damaging it! Can I just move it around that freely?
mine has no fuchsia, nor does it flower, which is sort of why I want to move it; I think its current home is too small! OMG, that home is too cute, and so is that plant 8)

Here she is taking a little bath in a bowl I made myself (!!) after it hit the 90s over the weekend and she got a sunburn :( I am trying to restore her roots because there is plenty of green left and there is no reason to discard her. Do you think I could move her to this bowl from the sea urchin? When I take the water out, of course.
Edit: She is a Tillandsia fuchsii v. gracilis, so please don't worry about her thin leaves; they are supposed to look that way!
- I think your bowl is just fine! ^_^ I usually see them in even small bowls and objects.
Make sure that you hang the plant upside down and let it thoroughly dry after you water it. Sadly mine rotted out and grew mold a long time ago because I didn't let it dry out properly. I think most places I read suggest to spray it with mist instead.
Its roots are more like an anchor or a little hand to grab onto stuff.
