I only see this on pets born in 2009. I always thought it was pets "older than.." but I've come across a couple born in 2007 with out "legacy" next to it.

Ah, ok. I think I get it, I was checking my pets and the ones I did check are from 2005/06 and they have legacy, so the "legacy" would disappear after the pet was abandoned/adopted. Lagacy = only one owner.

Yeah I believe that's the case :) if a pet is legacy but is abandoned, it loses its legacy status.

It doesn't necessarily mean only one owner. It just means that it hasn't changed owners since the adoption date thing went into effect, because it wasn't being tracked before then. So legacy basically means that we don't know if it has an adoption date that's later than its creation date. So the person who owns it now is the same person who owned it when the adoption date feature was added.
