--------------------------------------------
plot;
I'm not going to set much of a plot for this roleplay, I'm going to give everyone "free rein". However, I may make some major events every once in a while to keep everything interesting.
setting;
These are the flat plains at the base of the mountains. Small creeks run through and small wildlife flourishes. Now, this is home to the average wild mustangs you think of when you hear "wild horses". No oddities here. The horses are tough and stout due to the harsh winters and rugged territory. There are many dangers, however, such as hunters, farmers, and harmful wildlife.
This is lake Cheveyo, meaning "spirit warrior". The horses around the lake gave it this name because it is the ideal location for star watching. In our eyes, our ancestors live in the stars and the lake serves as an important spot of spiritual connection and healing. In the middle of the lake stands an island (as pictured) and is not reachable by any horse as of today. The lake is accessible on three sides, the north most bank runs into the mountains and us horses can't reach it.
This is the Spirit Forest. It is cold, damp, and eerie. Few animals dare venture into the misty woods. There are hundreds of folk tails and ancient lore of the forests being haunted by the spirits of animals who didn't make their way to the stars. A thick fog lay low on the ground and it is near-impossible to see a hundred feet in front of you. Every once in a while you will hear strange noises emitting from the trees and see faint figures in the distance. Though few have encountered these ghostly apparitions, it is said they are quite wise and offer insight on the future.
characters and herds;
You are able to own as many characters as you can handle. However, it is encouraged you have at least one horse in the plains because that is where the story will mostly take place. You are able to play as a wild horse, a spirit animal, or another wild animal.
Hiamovi Band-The Hiamovi herd is located on the eastern side of Cheveyo near the mountains. These horses are the only ones who venture into the high land of the mountains due to their more robust build. They thrive in the winter but summer hits them hardest.
Lead stallion- Ace () Lead mare- Mare- Mare-
⋆ You may request to be a lead mare, however you will play as a herd mare until the lead stallion becomes your mate or he grants you the role. Must have a lead stallion before you can request to be a lead mare.
Kitchi Band- The Kitchi herd lives on the western side of the lake, to the north and west of them they are surrounded by mountains but stay out of them for the most part. They are a more frail horse, thinner and taller than those of the Hiamovi band. Summer is their best season and winter is difficult.
Lead stallion- Lead mare- Mare- Mare-
Loners/Rogues/Bachelors- These horses are on their own, breeds and builds vary. They live almost anywhere but tend to stay out of the Hiamovi and Kitchi territories. If we have enough bachelors, you are able to form a bachelor herd and longers/rogues are able to join herds if approved of by the lead stallion and mare.
Spirits- The ghostly beings that haunt the Spirit Forest are secluded. They rarely venture out of their woods and if they do it is to connect with their ancestors at Lake Cheveyo. They have the ability to move across the water and stay hidden on the island.
Wildlife- Any other animals that you want to play a large role in are able to become your characters. Please keep in mind that this is set in Montana and do some research on the wildlife that lives there.
rules;
⋆ Keep this semi-literate, no one liners. A minimum of three, detailed sentences with correct grammar
⋆ No text talk or caps lock (we have punctuation for a reason)
⋆ Lead stallions/mares need to be more active (at least three days out of the week)
⋆ Please try to post at least once or twice a week. If you interact with someone else's character but don't post for a few days, their character can move on
⋆ Foals are welcome and are not considered to be a member of the heard until age 1, colts will be kicked out at age 2
⋆ Keep cussing to a minimum, it doesn't bother me but it might to other users
⋆ Drama is encouraged but do not go over board (I will let you know if it is extreme)
⋆ No adult content
⋆ Have a minor idea of how herd hierarchy works
⋆ No god-modding (don't speak/act for another character)
⋆ Wild horses and wildlife must be realistic animals. The spirits can have horns/mutations and what not but no extreme, sparkly colors
⋆ Feel free to play as a hunter/farmer as needed
⋆ If you are speaking out of character please use "ooc//" or something of the sort

My characters
Name: Ace
Character Role: wild horse
Placement: lead stallion for Hiamovi
Gender: stallion
Age: 12
Description or Reference(s): Ace is a hefty 16.2 hh, tall for his appaloosa breed. He is a leopard appaloosa with few and far apart spots. His mane is short and stands straight up and his tail is long, almost to his fetlocks. He has a very strong build with heavy muscling in his legs and shoulders. Due to years of rough terrain his hooves are cracked, rough, and often cause him discomfort. x
Personality: Ace tends to keep to himself. For being the lead in his herd, he is quite the introvert. He speaks very little and usually stands off on his own. He has a short temper and a stern voice. The first impression you would get of him would be impolite with a vulgar vocabulary.
Anything Extra: He was born into this herd, once he was old enough to get kicked out he joined a bachelor band. In no time he grew strong and brave and challenged the lead stallion, winning over the heard.
Name: Mirage Character Role: spirit Placement: spirit Gender: mare Age: none (passed at 17) Description or Reference(s): Mirage is one of the few spirits the roam the woods. She is a petite 15.2 hh, frail, thin, palomino (sabino with birdcatcher spots) Her tail and mane are extremely long, and her main is tied into a braid on her left side. She has branch-like horns that are small. Her eyes are completely white and emit a faint glow. x Personality: When Mirage was alive, she was very dependent on others. Though she rarely spoke, she enjoyed and relied on the company of others. Now that she has passed and lives on as a spirit in the woods, she has grown angry. She has very little interaction with others and becomes distressed and anxious. If you ever see a ghostly horse racing through the forest, it is likely her. She becomes easily overwhelmed with the emptiness she lives in and runs forever until she hit the mountains and turns back; constantly pacing through the trees. Extra: Mirage died at the age of 17. Due to her dependence on others, when something bad happened to someone close to her, it would highly effect her. Most of the horses in her herd fell ill and were dying off quickly. She lost his mother and sister to the peculiar disease and it hit her hard. Physically she was not mute, but she refused to speak. Her condition worsened until she fell into an intense depression, she passed of age, starvation, and lack of motivation to do anything at all.
Name: Ashley Character Role: Wild Horse Placement: Loner Gender: Mare Age: 7 Description/Reference: Ashley has a blood bay coat and brown eyes. She has a braided mane and a silver locket dangles from her neck. Her tail reaches down to her fetlocks. She is 56in tall and about 1000lbs.
Personality: Ashley has always been a lover of nature, and a lover of solitude. She's a bit too trusting of other humans but so far no incidents of violence have happened to her. When she's not frolicking in some flowers, and eating them too, you'll find her by the water or under a shady tree because those are her favorite places to be. She's not as tough and stout as the other horses in the plains due to her upbringing, but she can hold her own even though she spooks easily.
Anything Extra: Ashley wasn't born a wild horse, she was born in a farm near the flat plains. The owners of the farm gave her to their two teenage girls who loved braiding Ashley's hair. The girls kept her for several years until they grew up and decided the farm life wasn't for them. So before they moved to the city, they decided to set Ashley free. They put a locket around her neck with their pictures in it and set her on her way.
