Hello Subeta friends!

I recently experienced a major move due to my husband getting a very wonderful job. I am happy that he has a job that makes him feel good and it gives me joy to see him smile. However, I miss my family a lot and I think adopting a pet would help me keep from getting depressed as I have always had animals around and they always soothed me when i was sad. Taking care of a pet is therapeutic and a good way to get your mind off of a stressful day.

So why a gecko? For one I have a friend from my hometown who has about 3 or 4 of them and she raves about how gentle and calm and QUIET they are. Also my apartment complex does not allow dogs, and cats are extra per month plus...they knock stuff over and claw at things. A gecko would remain in its terrarium/tank and does not require the icky chore that a litter box can be (i know you still should replace their bedding/sand...but cat poop...gross). Plus I have a slight allergy to cats and a gecko does not have fur. They are beautiful reptiles and come in all colors of the rainbow, and that is really neat. I have done some homework on the subject of owning them and watched videos on setting up a tank/ taming them/how to feed...etc etc. However, even though everyone on youtube says they are gentle I want to hear from all of you what you think of them. Anything at all! The Bad the good and the ugly.

Also, how hard are they to manage when you go on vacation? Could i just have someone take care of them while I was away or are they very picky creatures? THat is really my main concern, and if you ever got hurt by one. How often do you hold your geckos? Do they enjoy perching on your shoulder? I love to read for long time...and I would love it if I had a little reading buddy.

Please spill all horror stories and happy stories!!! Adopting a pet, especially an ectothermicone is a big responsibility.
