Aside from buying stickers from Stick it to the Man and user shops, how do people get stickers? Is there a vending machine that gives them out? I'm curious how people get so many stickers to give away on the "Stick the person above you" topics.

Stickers can be bought occasionally from the Token Shop, Crystal Shop, Plot Prize Shops, and Event Shops.

For example, Esther's Shop have quite a few that can be bought with Vesnali Coins.

If you go to subetalodge you can see all the different stickers and if you click Item Info, it will tell you where it came from.
