...and both of us came through it fairly well. I didn't lose any blood (which is expected when cat is added to water) and she didn't get too stressed, although I think she did hit a whole new note or two with her yowling. Anyways, I thought I got off scott-free with no injuries to either of us. Yeah, not so much. After I had attempted to towel-dry her and eventually gave up and let her free to hide in a corner to angrily clean herself, I went to clean the tub from the hair and...other detritus. Long story short, I slipped in the super-soapy mess and whacked my right shin super hard on the side of the tub. I didn't cry out because that's how fucking much it hurt. I climbed out, sat on the toilet seat lid and howled quietly for what seemed like a couple of hours until the pain diminished enough to start swearing, which I did quite profusely. Then I got up and tried to stand on it and as soon as I stood, I thought I was going to be sick. Like, gonna puke right now sick, so I sat back down real quick and put my head between my knees and after a long few minutes, the feeling passed. Stumbled into the kitchen and got some ice and deposited myself on the couch with the leg raised and ice on it. Took an ibuprofen after a while because it hurt like a bitch still. I don't think it's broken...I think it's probably just a bone bruise. I can touch it with only a little pain and nothing looks/feels out of place. It feels kind of...stiff maybe? when I walk around, but other than that, it doesn't really hurt much anymore. The bruise doesn't even really look very bad. It's only a little discoloured. I do not have time for a broken bone so I simply refuse to have it be broken.

If it still hurts/looks strange or anything changes in a couple of days, I suppose I'll have to go to the doctor. But I really don't have time for this. My job involves a little walking, I need to go swimming a few hundred times this summer, and I need to go kayaking a few hundred times as well. Not to mention all the at-home duties I can't just ignore while it heals. Bleh. I'm all but positive it's not broken though.

So...broken bone stories? Stories of things you thought you got away with, but then OHSHITNOPE? Pet Stories?

It could be fractured. You won't know until you get an x-ray. I could still walk and move my toe right after I broke it last week.

I wouldn't let it go a couple days. Sleep on it and see your doctor or go to the emergency room/urgent care if there's still a problem in the morning.

I suppose I'll see how things are tomorrow. It's paining me a little as I sit here now, but then I've been sitting for a while. sigh I hope my insurance will cover this. It's strange though, because I can barely see a bruise now.

I'm actually seven weeks post breaking my ankle, and believe me -- you'd feel it if you broke it, especially something like your shin, haha! I would still maybe get it checked out, just in case, but hopefully you didn't do anything to it!

I was in Italy when I broke my leg/ankle, and I was on a beaten path on the coast going around an overgrown section, I stepped up onto some rocks and down I went. I heard my leg snap and I thought I was a goner. Took us forever to get back up to the villa where we were staying, and then I had to spend the night in an Italian hospital (which I don't recommend), then I had to fly home and get surgery. I'm just starting to walk again in my lovely moonboot (without crutches) and got the go-ahead from my surgeon/doctor to start physio. Been a bit of a rough road, but it's better now.

Also congrats on bathing your cat without much hassle, haha! Lord knows that can be a fun time trying to get a cat into/near the water...

Ack, I winced just reading your description of this! That sounds super painful and I hope you feel better soon. If your cat is anything like mine, she's probably secretly smug at the karmic retribution for giving her a bath, haha.

As for personal injury stories, I broke my wrist in 1st grade while doing "gymnastics" with some older girls who thought it would be fun to build a human pyramid and have me flip off onto the sofa. I missed the sofa and part of my bone was sticking out of my wrist. I must've been in shock because I remember laughing and not feeling any pain until I saw it and then I squawked the entire drive to the hospital. The plus side I guess is that it was around the time that our teacher was teaching us cursive writing skills and I broke my dominate arm, so after months of having to do school work with my left hand, I am now semi ambidextrous.

My cat was totally into the karmic retribution end of it. She was laying under a side table by the couch, angrily cleaning herself and smirking at me. I swear she was smirking.

At least my leg feels loads better today. I'm positive it's not broken now. And my kitty seems to have forgiven me too - she's all lovey purry again.
